      Just dropped in briefly and seen this. And I'm not going to argue with you. Because you're right. Maybe I did deserve this and I was the overrated and now fading boxer who thought he'd still got it when he blatantly hadn't and insisting on one more title match.

       

      I disagree with you only on the last point. Writers should write not for themselves OR the readers, but for the story. But there's no point arguing with you further. Good luck to you. I think both of us will need it.

      The story is dead without someone to appreciate it. A writer writes for their readers because once a story is made, it belongs to everyone. In their hearts, and in their mind. You failed to recognize that fact once you said that your readers didn't deserve your writing. Whether you think otherwise, this is the absolute fact. One I've come to recognize a long time ago. When there is only one person left in the world, the story is dead.
