Prologue

Josh stared at the yugioh arc-v episode his computer was playing without seeing it. It had been a few years since his adventures with Sonic and Tails on Sonic X's earth. Though upon returning he had no physical evidence that he'd ever left, he knew deep down that his adventure wasn't a dream or a figment of his imagination. Since then he'd designed many new cards and familiarized himself with Yugioh's new summoning methods up to and including pendulum summoning. "I wish I could see them again" he thought to himself. He thought back to fond memories of Sonic's witty jokes, Tails's warm smile and the strong friendship's he'd forged with everyone while fighting together against Eggman. Josh closed his eyes as he shed a tear, however it never hit the ground.

 

Josh opened his eyes to see he wasn't at home anymore. He was floating in the middle of a void of emptiness. "You wish to see them again?" A female voice asked from an unknown source. Josh recognized that voice, "Guardian Angel of Order?" he asked, hardly daring to believe what was happening. "Good to see you again too" the voice responded and in a flash of light its owner was right in front of him. "The one who gave me life wishes to offer you another quest. Should you succeed you can see your friends on Mobius anytime you want." Josh's eyes widened and he asked, "What's the quest?" Guardian Angel of Order continued as if reciting a set of instructions: "Your quest is to enter the friendship cup in the synchro dimension, and win. If the cup is disrupted, or you don't become the new king, you fail." Josh jumped at the idea, but then faltered, changing the course of the events of the friendship cup could have far reaching consequences. It would be very selfish of him to throw four whole dimensions into chaos just to see his friends again. Guardian Angel of Order studied him, waiting for a response. He finally said, "I would, but I don't want to throw multiple dimensions into chaos just for my own benefit." Surprisingly, Guardian Angel of Order smiled. "Ha!" She said, "Looks like I win our little bet." Josh was confused until he felt the presence of another entity, which spoke directly into the minds of those present: "Your selflessness is admirable." Josh thought, "Who are you?" but before he could say it the voice in his mind replied, "I am the embodiment of Chaos Energy, Momentum, and comparable forces throughout the multi verse. Should you succeed in your quest, it will be as if Academia's plan had never happened and those four dimensions will be at peace." Josh's mood brightened at this and asked, "May I make one more request, if it's doable?" The entity replied, "Yes, I will bring Cosmo back to life to ease Tails's suffering, if you succeed." Josh looked surprised so the entity added with a tone suggesting humor, "I'll try not to read your mind too either."

 

At these words Josh felt his form changing, within moments he was Argent again. He swished his tail happily as he inspected himself, but then faltered. "How will I enter a duel tournament looking like this?" he asked. The entity replied, "I will grant you the power of disguise. You can take the appearance of any human form, even one that's only in your mind."A metal briefcase, almost exactly like the one Kaiba carries in yugioh duel monsters, appeared in front of Argent and he opened it to find all his recent decks, and a few other choice cards. Guardian Angel of Order said, "Just like your duel disk, this can be summoned at will." She smiled and said, "Good luck", then everything faded into whiteness as the entity said "Note that each duel may play out differently from what you know, even without your influence".

I know Argent might seem like a bad character design to some, but bear with me, chapters 2 and up will make him more interesting

Chapter 1:

When the whiteness faded, Argent found himself in a garage like area. A D-wheel in the style given to the lancers by the city council was parked at one end. He heard footsteps coming from a hallway at one end and looked for a hiding place. The best he could find was to stand right by the hallway entrance such that whoever was entering wouldn't see him right away. Argent waited with baited breath and as the other person entered the room he saw it was Tsukikage. Thinking very quickly, Argent called upon his power of disguise and assumed the form of Hikage, Tsukikage's brother. Tsukikage turned and when he saw Argent's form, his eyes widened. "Brother, how are you here?" Argent replied, "I have returned as a spirit to guide you." Argent paused, trying to think of what to say next, and then asked "How did you come to this dimension?" Tsukage replied, "I used Reji's technology and a certain card." Argent replied, "I was unaware that such things existed, may I see the card?"Tsukikage took the "dimension mover" spell card out from a hiding place in his clothes and handed it to Argent. Argent walked towards Tsukikage, slowly, and then in one swift motion activated Tsukikage's duel disk and put the dimension mover card into the spell/trap slot. "What are you doing?" Tsukikage asked. "It is for my true rebirth" Argent replied as Tsukikage vanished into another dimension.

 

Argent let his disguise fade and exhaled. Having to outsmart a ninja wasn't easy, however he reminded himself of his goal and regained focus. An audio message played from the D-wheel. "Reira, is there a problem?" Argent quickly took another disguise, this one was meant to be a persona for dueling rather than an impersonation and looked like an amalgamation of Yugi and Yusei's appearances with some original touches, such as silver hair that was styled to look like fox ears were a part of it. Argent responded to the transmission with "No problem, I'll be right out." He summoned his card case and chose a deck. After mounting the D-Wheel, Argent put his deck in the deck zone and the D-Wheel's autopilot activated as the garage's door opened. The engines revved, and the D-wheel took off. Argent heard the roar of a large crowd and looked up to see the stands of the duel palace. Over the crowd he heard the announcer, Melisa Claire, say "now entering is.. eh? Tsukikage?" She started trying to explain why the matchup was changed but stopped when Argent said, "My name isn't Tsukikage, its Argent". Melisa replied, "Very well then Argent, no one told me anything." as Argent made his way to the starting line. Shinji was waiting for him and said, "Those damn Tops are always like this, they do whatever they want and don't think of anyone else." Shinji launched into a prepared speech about how Commons had been oppressed for too long and he'd lead them to turn society on its head until Melisa scolded him for being rude to the audience. Then Melisa called for the field spell Cross Over Accel to be activated. The starting countdown appeared as Argent asked Shiji, "Whatever were you planning to accomplish with that speech anyway"? Shiji angryly replied, "What do you say?" However just as he opened his mouth, the counter hit zero and Argent took off, Shinji's momentary distraction let Argent easily get the first corner.

 

Argent declared, "It's my turn" he checked his hand and added "I summon Kage Kitsune Hero LV4" A three tailed anthropomorphic kitsune with black fur appeared hovering next to him (Level 4|1500/500).  "I set 1 card face-down and end my turn."

 

Shinji intoned, "Come fellow Commons. It's our turn" he drew his card and said, "I summon Bee Force - Pin the Bull's-eye" A monster that looked like a cross between a bee, a rocket and a dart appeared (Level 1|200/300). "Next I activate the spell card double summon, it lets me normal summon twice this turn, so I summon the tuner monster, Bee Force - Needle the Stinger" A wasp like monster appeared, its pinkish body had transparent parts allowing one to see venom stored within (Level 2 | 400/800). "Next, by negating its own effect I special summon Bee Force - Twinbow the Continous Attack", another wasp like monster appears  (Level 3 | 1000/500). Shinji addressed the crowd: "Just like us Commons, these monsters aren't much on their own, but together we can be the rebellion that overthrows the Tops, I'm tuning my level 2 Needle to my level 3 Twinbow!" The pink wasp dissolveed into points of light that turned into green rings that encircled the other wasp. "Synchro Summon!" Shinji declared, "Bee Force - Azusa the spirit bow" A slightly feminine human shaped monster appeares, but it had insect's head (Level 5 | 2200/1600). Shinji intones, "Feel the pain us commons have endured, I activate Pin the Bulls-eye's effect, which deals 200 damage. However, Azusa doubles the effect damage dealt by other bee force monsters" Pin fired a stinger at Argent, which impacted for 400 damage (Argent LP: 3600) Shinji pushes his advantage, "Battle Phase, Azusa attack!" Azusa fireed an arrow from her bow at the dark kitsune, however before hit Argent responded, "Activate trap, waboku. My monsters won't be destroyed by battle this turn and this turn I take no battle damage" The arrow bounces off but Shinji didn't seem fazed.  He said, "I set 2 cards and end my turn."

 

Argent started his turn and declared, "During my Standby Phase, by sending Kage Kitsune Hero LV4 to the graveyard, I can summon "Kage Kitsune Hero LV6" The dark Kitsune grew 3 more tails (Level 6 | 2400/1400) Argent thought to himself " Those set cards are definitely trap cards meant to protect Pin the Bull's-eye so I know what I'll do" Out loud he said, "I activate the spell card, Sacred Key of time Rewinding, it shuffles 1 card that was played last turn into the deck, and my target is the rightmost set card." "Tch", Shinji muttered as he returns his card to the deck. Argent continued, "Next I normal summon Dark-Kitsune-Disciple Demon Swordsman" a muscle bound demon holding two swords appeared (Level 4 | 1600/800 | "Archfiend Swordsman" for TCG naming scheme) Argent continued, "Battle Phase, Kage Kitsune attack Azusa." The dark Kitsune fired red lightning from his hands, which destroyed Azusa and dealt 200 damage (Shinji LP: 3800) Argent continued, "Next Demon Swordsman attacks Pin the Bull's-eye." Shinji however replied, "Do you think us Commons will let our monsters die so easily? Activate continuous trap, Bee Force Nest. This lets me summon a Bee Force monster from my deck with the same name as the one being attacked and end the Battle Phase." Demon swordsman suddenly halts mid swing as another Pin appeared, Shinji continues "However after using this effect twice Bee Force nest is destroyed." Argent  replies, "That may be so, but during the End Phase, since Kage Kitsune Hero Level 6 battled, I can send him to the graveyard to summon Kage Kitsune Hero LV8. I set 1 card face-down and as I end my turn, Kage Kitsune Hero Levels up"  The dark kitsune once again grew 3 more tails (Level 8 | 3000/2000).

 

Shinji declared, "It's our turn, we draw." Shinji raised a fist and continued "Remember how the Tops have treated you! I activate the spell card Bee Force Treasure, which lets me draw 1 card for each "Bee Force" card control." Shinji drew 3 cards, checked them and said, "I activate cyclone [Mystical Space Typhoon in TCG], which destroys 1 spell/trap card" A whirlwind appears and blows away Argent's set mirror force. "Next I activate Resurrection of the Dead [Monster Reborn in the TCG]. Return to us, Azusa" Azusa the spirit bow reappeared and Shinji orders, "My 2 Pin the Bulls-eyes activate their monster effects, each dealing 400 damage" Argent is struck by 2 more stingers and loses balance for a moment (Argent LP: 2800) Shinji studies the final card in his hand for a moment before declaring, "Azusa attacks Demon Swordsman" Azusa fired an arrow at her target which pierces through his chest, destroying him and dealing 600 damage (Argent LP: 2200) Shinji gained a look of triumph and intoned, "Stand up Commons! Today I light the fire of revolution, and I'll do it with this card! By discarding Bee Force - Dart the Chase I deal damage equal to the ATK of the monster I just destroyed, however the damage will be doubled due to Azusa's effect to make it 3200!" A yellow projectile appears and flew towards Argent, causing an explosion when it hit. Shinji peered through the smoke looking to confirm his victory, but gasped when he saw an angel holding an ornate key the size of a quarter staff hovering next to Argent, who still had LP left (Argent LP: 5400). At Shinji's dumbfounded look Argent explained, "When I would take damage that would make my LP 0, by banishing sacred key of time rewinding from my graveyard, I can negate that damage and raise my LP by that amount." Shinji responded, "I switch the two Pin the Bulls-eyes to defense position and end my turn. However next turn you're in for it for sure."

 

Argent declared, "I draw", he looked at his hand and asks, "Tell me Shinji, let's say you were to succeed in an all out rebellion and overthrow Top's establishment, what would change?" Shinji replied, "How dare you! Overthrowing Tops will put us Commons in control, and the Tops will get what they deserve!" Argent continued his turn, "I summon Dark-Kitsune-Disciple Phantom Lancer", A knight in dark purple armor appears carrying a large lance (Level 4 | 1700/1100), "and activate the spell card Chaos Star Changer, which increases its level by 1" Argent reached out and grabs an action card out of the air before continuing "Next I activate Kage Kitsune Hero LV8's monster effect, by banishing 1 Dark-Kitsune -Disciple monster from my hand or graveyard, I can send 1 other monster I control to the graveyard and if I do, summon a synchro or xyz monster whose level or rank is up to 3 higher than the target." Phantom Lancer disappeared as Argent Chanted," Lightning strikes and sparks scatter, the fist of thunder resounds across the battlefield, Synchro Summon! Electrify, Voltage Warrior".  A warrior in white and black armor appeared, fists crackling with electricity (Level 8 | 2500/2300). Shinji looked surprised as Argent continued, "You're not accomplishing anything with this rebellion" Shinji retorts, " You're an outsider, what the hell would you possibly know?" Argent replies, "I pay 800 LP to activate Voltage  Warrior's monster effect. I destroy 1 face-up card, like Bee Force Nest" (Argent LP: 4600) Voltage Warrior fired lightning from his hands which disintegrates Shinji's trap. Argent continued, "Kage Kitsune, attack Azusa!" The dark nine tailed Kitsune fired lightning from his hands, which destroyed Azusa and deal 800 damage to Shinji (Shinji LP: 3000) Argent looks and Shinji and says "I know that even if you succeed, give it a few years and the tables will turn again, you're just too bitter to see that far ahead." "SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!" Shinji screamed, "ON MY NEXT TURN I'LL DESTROY YOU!" however in his anger he failed to notice an action card within a reasonable distance. Argent responded, "There is no next turn, Voltage Warrior attack, and when he does, I can change your monster's battle position" the targeted Pin the Bull's-eye changed to attack position as voltage warrior closed in with electrified fists. Argent declares, "When voltage warrior battles a monsters, by discarding 1 card it gains 1000 ATK." Argent discarded the action card, Miracle and intoneed, "Finish him!" Voltage Warrior strikes Pin with an electrified fist and Shinji's LP drops to 0.

 

"Its settled!" Melisa declares, "Argent will advance to the next round." The D-wheels come to a stop at the starting line, Shinji got off his D-Wheel and cracked his knuckles. However before he could do anything he was quickly restrained and dragged off. His final words were, "My grudge will be passed onto the other commons, they'll get you for sure!" Argent calmly stepped off the field and an ornately dressed boy escorted him to his quarters. "I've taken the first step" he thought to himself, "just wait Sonic and hang on Tails, I'll be back soon"

You can only use this effect of "Kage Kitsune Hero LV6" once per turn. During the End Phase: if this card attacked or was attacked this turn: you can send this face-up card to the graveyard; special summon 1 "Kage Kitsune Hero LV8" from your hand, deck, or graveyard.

Chapter 2:

Argent watched the next duel from the room he'd been assigned. He was surprised at Choujirou's luck with his cardian combo and  Yuzu's luck to get 2 copies of the action card "Flight" during one attack. Eventually Yuzu's Bloom Diva dropped Choujirou's LP to 0. Argent couldn't seem to focus very well on the remaining duels for some reason, and after he'd eaten dinner he went to bed.

 

Argent found himself in a creepy looking field, the sun must have recently set since he could still see the gloves and fur of his true form, but it was still dark and foggy so he couldn't see much else. He heard a noise and frantically dodged out of the way of a burst of fire. He turned and saw Red Demon's Dragon Scarlight [scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend in TCG] had tried to assault him. Jack was standing next to the dragon, and said "You lack the power to defeat me!" Argent noticed he had is duel disk on and drew  a card, however the card was reload. He frantically looked around but didn't see any other cards to use. Suddenly from off to the side he heard an evil laugh. He looked over and saw Eggman sitting in a chair holding a bowl of popcorn "You caused me so much trouble but you can't even win a duel?" the evil Dr. gloated, "I'm going to enjoy watching these two tear you apart". "Two?" Argent thought to himself, then from the fog Yuya appeared, his eyes glowing like they do when he goes berserk, next to him was Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon."Disappear weaking!" Yuya declared, and his dragon flew at Argent with astonishing speed and impaled him with its fangs before sending him flying. As he hit the ground Argent saw Sonic and Tails standing next to a gravestone marked "Cosmo", they were giving him expressions that clearly said "How could you?" Finally they turned and walked away.

 

Argent woke with a start and frantically looked around. Sunlight was streaming into the room, "A dream" he told himself. The TV displayed the next matchup. Yuya vs. Duel Chaser 2-2-7. When Yuya gave his speech at the beginning about how forcing people into labor for losing a duel at the friendship cup was wrong, Argent was reminded of his nightmare and shuddered. He hadn't asked exactly what "failing" his quest meant but he assumed it was losing a lot more than just a duel. Argent only sort of watched the duel play out. He kept wondering if his skills would be good enough. He summoned his card case and looked at his decks, wondering which one to use in the next round. Suddenly he heard a voice say, "It's alright my friend" Argent looked up and saw the spirits of a few of his monsters had appeared. The one who had spoken continued, "It's natural to be afraid, however you can't let that control you. That would be the only way you'd really let your friends down." Another spirit added, "Choosing the right deck is important, but sometimes you just have to jump in and act, like you did yesterday". Argent felt re-assured and looked back at the broadcast in time to see Yuya's Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon deplete his opponent's LP. Argent watched the next few duels with more enthusiasm. Yugo beat Sawatari using consecutive attacks from his Speedroid monsters and unsurprisingly Sergey advanced as well. In between watching the duels Argent went over in his mind how the events of the friendship cup originally unfolded in relation to his goals to be sure he had a plan. Meanwhile, many dimensions away, a different fox was contemplating a dream.

 

Tails sat at his workbench trying to figure out how to improve the armor on the newly rebuilt X-Tornado without sacrificing its aerial mobility. He wasn't getting anywhere so he thought he'd go take walk. The area around his house was as pleasant as ever, however his mind kept wandering back to the dream he'd had last night: He'd dreamed of humans playing a game using the style of cards Argent had used while riding what appeared to be motorcycles. Normally he'd just call it a weird but vivid dream however one of the contestants seemed somehow familiar to him. His waking self knew that he'd never seen a young silver haired human before, but he couldn't shake the familiarity the person gave off during his dream. Sighing, he decided that it was time for dinner soon and Sonic was coming over so he might as well get ready for that.

Argent watched the final duel of the day, Kurosaki vs Dennis with rapped attention. He couldn't help but admire Kurosaki's fighting spirit, even if the man could be a little ruthless sometimes. "I would be honored to duel against him" he concluded. When Kurosaki exposed Dennis's ties to Academia, Argent realized that he and Kurosaki were fighting for the same goal, however Kurosaki wasn't the type to trust people easily. Argent concluded that Kurosaki might lose and be sent underground anyway, but if he wasn't he might make a good ally. When Kurosaki ordered his Satellite Cannon Falcon to tear though the last of Dennis's LP, Argent cheered him on.

 

The next morning, Argent woke feeling refreshed. He watched the morning's first duel with interest. In the back of his mind he wondered if Yuzu would beat Sergey. Sergey seemed like the bigger threat to him in a duel, however he realized that if Sergey lost the chances of the cup being disrupted by Roger would increase greatly. However his worries were unfounded as Sergey pulled come from behind win using his low LP to his advantage, and literally sent Yuzu flying off the course to keep her away from an action card.

 

After the duel had concluded, Argent heard a knock on his door and after choosing a deck he opened it to see an ornately dressed boy. The boy led him along a hallway where another boy was opening the door to Yuya's room. Yuya burst through the door and frantically questioned his escort, "Where's Yuzu? Is she ok?" The boy replied, "I don't know". Argent had a nervous thought: "If Yuya forfeits to go look for Yuzu, does my victory in the friendship cup still count?" He decided that he had to get Yuya to focus on the duel somehow so he said, "If you want to help her, you should focus on the friendship cup." "What?" Yuya replied. Argent continued, "Barbaric duels like this will continue to go unpunished as long as the current system is in place, and no one will listen to someone who doesn't work their way up to the top." Argent maintained his composure as he spoke. Yuya replied, "What if Yuzu's hurt, she could be in danger! Are you saying you don't care about that?" Argent replied, "Correct", and silently added "Since if I win the timeline will change so she doesn't get hurt in the first place" he considered, then finished, "Perhaps you can search for her after you duel me". Yuya replied, "I'll defeat you so I can save Yuzu!" and ran off in the direction of the Duel Palace.

 

Argent and Yuya took their positions at the starting line, both of them looking resolute. Melisa declared, "This duel puts Yuya Sakaki, wielder of unusual summoning methods, against Argent, a newcomer who's full potential is unknown. Could something spectacular unfold here? Field Magic, Crossover Accel activate!" As soon as the counter hit 0 Yuya cranked up the throttle on his D-Wheel and accelerated so fast that he almost lost control. However this let him exit the duel palace first. Melisa declared, "The first turn goes to Yuya!"

Yuya Starts his turn by declaring, "I'll use the scale 3 Destruction Magician [Xiangke Magician in TCG] and Scale 8 Chronomancy Magician [Timegazer Magician in TCG] to set the pendulum scales. The two magician's appeared in pillars of blue light, one wielding a bladed weapon. Yuya continues as his pendant glows, "Swing Pendulum of Souls! Draw an arc of light across the sky! Pendulum Summon! come forth my faithful monster, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Odd Eyes appears and roars (Level 7 | 2500/2000). Yuya ends his turn.

 

Argent declares his turn and draws his card. Then he declares, "Since you control a monster and I don't, I special summon Summon-Magician Tech Valkyria", A futuristic looking angel descends, (Level 5 | 2000/1500), "Then I normal summon Red Magician's Apprentice", a magician appears from a burst of flame "(Level 4 | 1900/1900). "Since Tech Valkyria can be used as a level 4 monster for an xyz summon, I overlay these 2  monsters, xyz summon! The warrior's whose blade strikes fear into the mightiest of dragons, Dragon Slayer." A monster reminiscent of buster blader appears, but with different colored armor (Rank 4| 1800/2000). Argent continues, "Next by using 1 overlay unit I activate its monster effect: it gains 900 ATK until the End Phase (ATK -> 2700). "Dragon Slayer attacks Odd-Eyes pendulum dragon." Dragon Slayer leaps up and cuts Odd-Eyes in half with his sword, causing Yuya 200 damage. (Yuya LP 3800). Argent ends his turn.

 

Yuya draws and declares, "Ladies and Gentleman, allow me to introduce our newest animal act, brought to you by my 2 magicians. Pendulum Summon! Return from the extra deck, Odd-Eyes pendulum Dragon. Also entering the stage is our newcomer, Entermate Hammer Mamoth [Performapal Elephhammer in tcg] (Level 6 | 2600/1800)" Argent thinks to himself, "One moment he's serious about winning for Yuzu's sake, and the next he's pulling a circus act. This is why I never liked watching him duel." Yuya continues, "Now witness a dazzling display as Odd-Eyes attacks Dragon Slayer, spiraling strike burst!" Argent interjects, "I activate Diamond Guardna's effect from my hand, by banishing it from my hand or graveyard, this turn I negate destruction from battle once and battle damage twice." Odd-Eyes's fire breath is blocked by a sparkling warrior in diamond armor. Argent continues, "Dragon Slayer's effect activates: after it battles a dragon-type monster, that monster is destroyed." Dragon Slayer throws his sword and impales Odd-Eyes in the chest. Yuya retorts, "Hammer Mamoth attacks then." Before he card retrieve his sword, Dragon Slayer is knocked into the distance by Yuya's remaining monster. Yuya ends his turn.

 

Argent draws and declares, "I set one pendulum scale with the scale 9 Summon-Magician Cyber Tactician, and when I do I can look at the top 4 cards of my deck and add a 'Summon Magician' card from among them to my hand, and I'll set the added Summon-Magician  black sorcerer to complete my scales." A girl with a cybernetic arm and an armored black mage appear in pillars of blue light. Several of the lancers in the audience had thoughts like, "He has pendulums, who is this guy?" and "If he's one of us, why didn't we hear about him before?"  Yuya was so surprised that he lost his performer persona and exclaimed, "What? Where did you get those?" Argent replied, "I have my sources." Melisa commented, "This is the first time two pendulum users have dueled against each other in the duel palace. I thought something amazing might happen and here it is, history in the making." Argent replied, "Then lets continue making it. Black sorcerer's pendulum effect destroys an opponent's monster that's in attack position, like hammer mamoth." Black Sorcerer fires arcane energy from his staff that hits Yuya's remaining monster and incinerates it in an explosion. Argent continued, "My dear friends, transcend time and space to fight by my side, Pendulum Summon! Come fourth, my oldest friend, Red Magician. Also, Summon Magician Lunar Maiden." A magician in red armor appears along with a girl in white ceremonial robes (Red Magician Level 7 | 2500/2500, Lunar Maiden Level 4 | 1500/500). Argent continues, "Lunar maiden's effect activates: I can return a card from my graveyard to my hand, but I can't use it this turn, so I'll return Red Magican's Apprentice. Next I discard Red Magician's apprentice to activate Red Magician's monster effect. This gives him 2 Spell counters." Two floating red orbs appear around Red Magician. "Next I remove those Spell counters to activate his other effect, I destroy a spell/trap card, like Magician of Chronomancy." Yuya looks nervous as the two orbs float into Red Magician's staff and he fires a fireball from it. However Yuya grabs an action card and declares, "Action Magic, runaway effect! I negate a monster effect and deal 500 damage." The fireball changes course and strikes Argent. Red Magician says telepathically to Argent, "I'm sorry, are you alright?" Argent nods and declares, "Red Magician attack Yuya directly, Red Burning!" Red Magician fires a gout of flame from his staff, however Yuya responds, "by discarding Entermate Ballon Tapir [Performapal Inflatir Tapir in TCG] I negate the battle damage". Yuya's tapir sucks up the flames into itself and then disappears. Argent presses on, "Lunar Maiden attacks then". Yuya is hit with an orb of light and loses 1500 LP (Yuya LP 2500). Argent concludes by saying  "Since a summon magician dealt battle damage, I draw 1 card due to cyber tactician's pendulum effect. During my End Phase, Red Magician recovers 800 of my LP, end turn" (Argent LP 4200).

 

Yuya keeps his serious composure as he draws, He grabs another action card and declares, "By discarding a spell card, I activate the spell magical treasure, I draw 2 cards." Yuya discards the action card Miracle and continues by declaring, "Pendulum Summon, return from the Extra deck, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and from my hand, Entermate Silver Claw [Performapal Silver Claw in TCG]". Odd-Eyes reappears and is joined by a wolf (Level 4 | 1800/700). "Next I normal summon Entermate Trump Girl", A midget of a witch appears, (Level 2 | 200/200). Yuya explains, "When Trump girl is used as a material, I can fusion summon without a fusion spell. I fuse together Odd-Eyes and Trump Girl to fusion summon Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. (Level 8 | 3000/2000)" Yuya continues, "Since it used a level 2 Spellcaster-Type monster as a material, Rune-Eyes can attack twice, now go!" Rune-Eyes, fires beams of energy at both of argent's monsters, destroying them and dealing 2000 damage in total (Argent LP 2200). Yuya looks triumphant and declares, "Silver Claw attacks, and when he does, all my Entermates gain 300 ATK during this Battle Phase". Argent replies, "when I would take a direct attack, I can special summon Summon-Magician Tech Valkyria from my graveyard." Argent's new monster appears in defense position and sacrificially shields him from Silver Claw's attack. Yuya declares "I end my turn".

 

Argent draws, and declares, "I activate black sorcerer's pendulum effect to destroy rune-eyes." Black sorcerer fires energy from his staff and incinerates Yuya's dragon. Argent continues, "Transcend time and space once again, Pendulum Summon! Return from the extra deck, Summon-Magician Tech valkyria and from my hand, junk synchron" Tech valkyria re-appears and is joined by a midget with an engine on his back (Level 3 | 1300/500). Argent declares, "I'm tuning my level 5 tech valkyria to my level 3 Junk Synchron," Junk Synchron pulls the cord for the engine on his back, causing it to rev to life, "Lightning Strikes and sparks scatter the fist of thunder resounds across the battlefield," Junk synchron turns into 3 green rings and tech valkyria becomes 5 glowing stars, the rings encircle the stars and a synchro monster appears from the resulting flash of light as Argent finishes, "Synchro Summon! Electrify, Voltage Warrior!" (Level 8 | 2500/2300) Yuya looks nervous and argent declares, "I pay 800 LP to activate his effect: destroy magician of chronomancy." (Argent LP 1400) Voltage Warrior fires lighting from his hands, causing an explosion, but when the smoke clears, Yuya's magician is still there, surrounded by a dark barrier. Yuya explains, "The action card absorption veil negates the destruction of a spell/trap card, and the next battle damage I would take this turn becomes 0." Argent thinks to himself, "I need to find a way to stop those action cards", out loud he says, "Voltage Warrior attack Silver Claw with Electrofist!" Voltage Warrior smashes Silver Claw with a right hook. Argent declares, "I set 1 card, end turn" To himself he adds, "With Bottomless Trap Hole, when Yuya pendulum summons next turn, I'll finally be rid of Odd-Eyes and can attack him directly on my next turn."

 

Yuya draws, grabs an action card and says, "I activate the spell card, Entermate Draw Trick. I discard 1 card to draw 1 card, and if it's an entermate monster, I can reveal it and draw 1 more." Yuya discards the action card he grabbed, draws 1 card and says "I've drawn Entermate Trap Sniffer so I draw again" After drawing another card, Yuya says "I summon Trap Sniffer, and when he's summoned, Trap cards cannot be activated." A comical looking Bomb Sniffer Dog appears (Level 4 | 1600/1000). Yuya continues, "Also by banishing 1 entermate monster from my graveyard, I can look at 1 of your set cards and if it's a trap card, its shuffled into the deck". Yuya banishes Entermate Balloon Tapir and shuffles Argent's bottomless Trap Hole into the deck. Yuya continues, "Pendulum Summon, return from the extra deck, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Entermate Silver Claw", the two monsters re-appear and Yuya continues, "I'll overlay my level 4 Silver Claw and Trap Sniffer," Argent flashes back to his nightmare since he knows what's next as Yuya continues, "Xyz Summon! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon." A dark dragon with large fangs appears (Rank 4 | 2500/2000) Yuya continues, "By using 1 of its overlay units I activate its monster effect, which halves the ATK of a level 5 or higher monster and adds that amount to Dark Rebellion's ATK. Treason discharge!" Streams of pink energy shoot out from Yuya's dragon and bind voltage warrior. Argent watches with fear in his heart as Yuya continues, "I'll use the remaining overlay  unit to activate the effect again, treason discharge!" Voltage Warrior's ATK drops to 625 and Dark Rebellion's ATK rises to 4375. Yuya declares, "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon attack, spiraling strike burst!" Suddenly Argent remembers what he was told this morning: "It's natural to be afraid, however you can't let that control you. That would be the only way you'd really let your friends down." Sonic and Tails's faces flash across his mind for a split second just as Yuya's dragon rears up. Cyber Tactician holds out her artificial arm and Argent grabs on. She flings him into the air where he grabs an action card. Argent rebounds off of Black Sorcerer's staff, lands on his D-Wheel, and declares, "Action card, damage vanish! One instance of battle damage becomes 0" just as Voltage Warrior is incinerated by Yuya's dragon's fire breath. Yuya sees the action card and retorts, "Well then, my other dragon attacks you directly, this time I'll finish it!" Argent replies, "When I'm attacked directly I can special summon shield projector from my hand in order to negate it." A machine appears in defense position and projects a barrier which takes the hit from Dark Rebellion's fangs (Level 4| 0/1000). Yuya declares, "Dark Rebellion's ATK return to normal, I end my turn".

 

Just after Argent Draws, Yuya interjects, "Activate Trap, Odd Eyes Magic Veil. Since I control an Odd-Eyes monster and 2 Magician pendulum cards, this turn my monsters cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects."Argent replies, "Well then I guess I'll have to defeat them in battle. Pendulum Summon! Transcend time and space once again, Summon Magician Tech Valkyira, and from my hand Summon Magician Black Sorcerer and Red Magician's Apprentice." Argents 3 monsters appear and Yuya wonders what he's planning. Argent continues, "By shuffling 1 Warrior or Spellcaster-Type monster and 2 Summon-Magician" monsters into my deck, I can special summon..." Argents 3 monsters become balls of light and return to his deck. "... with your blades of light and darkness ready, spread your golden wings and soar down the path of victory! Special summon, Chaos High Paladin!" A golden angel with some dark highlights descends to Argent's side of the field. (Level 8 | 3800/2300). Argent continues, "Chaos High Paladin attack Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon with Chaos Swords!" Two Swords appear in Argent's monster's hands as he flies forward and cuts Odd-Eyes into thirds. Yuya takes damage and swerves a bit (Yuya LP 1200). After he recovers, Yuya replies, "Impressive, but now you're out of attacks, and Odd-Eyes will return next turn." Argent  retorts, "Due to Chaos High Paladin's monster effect, for each monster you controlled at the start of the Battle Phase, it gains an additional attack. Attack Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon and finish this." Yuya launches his D-Wheel off the side of the course and grabs an action card. He activates it, declaring "Action Card, Great Escape. The battle phase automatically ends". Argent ends his turn.

 

Yuya draws, checks his card, and based on his expression he drew what he needed. continuing his turn, Yuya declares, "Pendulum Summon! Come on back Odd-Eyes and from my hand, Entermate Cannondeer". Odd-Eyes re-appears and is joined by an anthropomorphic deer wearing a crash helmet with a large brightly colored cannon mounted next to it (Level 4 |1600/900). "By tributing cannondeer, I activate its monster effect. I can destroy an opponent's monster and my target is Chaos High Paladin." Cannondeer fires itself out of its cannon and crashes into Argent's monster, destroying it. Argent replies, "When Chaos High Paladin leaves the field, I can destroy the cards in my pendulum zone and place him in there." Argent's 2 Summon Magicians dissapear and Chaos High Paladin re-materializes in their place.  Yuya continues, "Odd-Eyes attack shield projector." Odd-Eyes incinerates Argent's remaining monster, however Argent seemed unfazed. Yuya finally declares, "Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon direct attack. Rebellious Lightning Disobey!" The dragon's fangs came closer and closer to Argent before bouncing off of a part shimmering and part shadowy barrier. At Yuya's confused look, Argent explains: "During the turn Chaos High Paladin goes to the pendulum zone via its effect, I take no damage." Yuya looks shocked, since his attack had been blocked yet again. "I end my turn" he declares.

 

Argent draws his card with a confident look and declares, "I activate Chaos High Paladin's pendulum effect: I can banish 1 monster on the field and summon a synchro or xyz monster based on the banished monster's level, and naturally I choose Odd-Eyes" Yuya's dragon disappears as Argent chants, "Harness the bitter cold of your magic and freeze all who oppose you, come forth Ice Sorcerer" A sorcerer in ice blue armor appears (Level 8 |2700/2300) and Yuya's 2 magician's begin to ice over. "Ice Sorcerer attack Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. Arcane Blizzard." Snow starts to swirl around, however Yuya grabs an action card despite that. "Got it", he declares "Action Card, Single Destruction. When my opponent controls only 1 monster that monster is destroyed." However the card ices over and shatters instead of activating. Argent explains, "During the turn Ice Sorcerer is Synchro Summoned, the effects of all spell and traps my opponent controls are negated. Also any monster attacked by him loses half its ATK and DEF this turn." Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon Ices over and the ice shatters, reducing Yuya's LP to 0. "Its settled" Melissa declares, "Argent will advance to the next round." The D-Wheels come to a stop at the starting line and Yuya tries to run before he gets grabbed, as he gets dragged off he says "Let me go! what about Yuzu! Doesn't anybody care about her!?!" Argent replies, "I do, in my own way."
