[AGM] Fickle Fairy

The Nyx Avatar

Recommended Posts

A mini-archetype of WIND Fairy-Type Pendulum monsters that all have a mandatory effect to equip themselves into any available monster as soon as they're Summoned, which in return, give the equipped monster a multitude of buff. They can also support classic Decks of previous generation OR any silly built in terms of falling short on setup speed when used as Scale since their Scale is near-generic. The obvious risk of splashing these cute-yet-unfaithful fairies is that when your opponent manages to destroy all of your monsters, they will equipped to your opponent's monster(s) instead.

There's still a few more to come.

Pendulum Effect:Normal Summoned Fairy-Type monsters cannot activate their effects.

Monster Effect:If this card is Summoned: Equip it to a monster on either player's side of the field. If the equipped monster leaves the field and there are no other monsters on that side of the field: Equip this card to a monster your opponent controls; otherwise, destroy this card. A monster equipped with this card gains 1000 ATK and DEF.

Pendulum Effect:You can pay 1000 Life Points; Special Summon 1 "Fickle Fairy Token" (Fairy-Type/WIND/Level 1/ATK 1000/DEF 0). You can only activate this effect of "Fickle Fairy - Sara" once per turn.

Monster Effect:You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but its original ATK and DEF become 1000 and it cannot activate its effect this turn. If this card is Summoned: Equip it to a monster on either player's side of the field. If the equipped monster leaves the field and there are no other monsters on that side of the field: Equip this card to a monster your opponent controls; otherwise, destroy this card. A monster equipped with this card cannot be destroyed or banished by your opponent's card effects.

since i partially responsible for these adorable beings...

Evelyn: a good start, that 1000 gain is really nice. and you make a way to not losing advantage so much through its pendulum effect. although unless fairy-type in general not need much of any normal summoning i think its okay if the effect limiter is Nerf down a bit into " WIND Fairy-Type"

Sarah: really good protection on equip effect. and on top of that she is really versatile body. you normal it without tribute, pendulum it, even providing bodies for any equips that can be double as fooder. she being the highest scale is nice concept since she arguably giving the best boost among the three thus player will work their planing on dropping her as scales or equip making her not as wild

Grisehlda: another effect limiter upon inherent Summons, and this time your opponent can't do a thing if their answer card is target-based

Village: being another effect limiter is nice remembering the nature of these girls, but...that's it. i wish for more effect on it...maybe a searcher? or draw related effects?

Welcome: simple and straight forward, nice. it can retrieve dead pendulums due to xyz and obviously combo with Grisehlda

Margaux: i think you miss the usual ED Pendulum clause of placing it as scales, but other than that its a decent sized beater that can retrieve back any naughty fairy that equipped on opponent monster. i do feel that the cost of summoning and effect is a bit too high personally. the detach cost its kinda ok minding the equip effects of the archetype (although if i were you..i will go crazy by enabling her to steal any equips as long you have material but only detaches if you steal fickle fairy) but its way  xenophobic for its summoning condition (moreover only Evelyn fulfilling the cost) ...to be fair if you change the effects like my suggestion, it being xenophobic is  a bit more justified

I kind of do not understand this effect: You can only equip it to a monster on the field again if there are no such monsters?

  • 2 weeks later...

Fixed up Margaux for the purposes of Pendulum Summoning and Pendulum Zone, as well as adding a new addition to the archetype: "Fickle Fairy - Jasminne".

What I mean is in respect to the user; if the user has no other monsters, it would be equipped to another monster (an opponent's); otherwise, if there is no other monsters, it is destroyed.

Probably more easier to digest if it worded like this:

If the equipped monster leaves the field and there are no other monsters on equipped monster controller side of the field: Equip this card to a monster on the opponent field; otherwise, destroy this card.

Jasminne here has a quite good high scale. do think the pendulum effect its a bit to harsh on its drawback unless im not aware of any possible shenanigans (which should have since its generic by design ) the equip effect is surprisingly not that amazing beside what we got so far...so obviously this card would be used as a body as you constantly stopping it to use its equip effect. by design its also supported by Monarch card eh? neat

Maybe one should also somehow mention that if you control other monsters, you can equip it to one of them (if you are supposed to be able to do that).

Alright. Corrected the text. Along with adding a new Trap Card.

I kind of don't understand this archatype. Why are there so many cards that say:if you do this, you can't activate this? Could you please explain this? Otherwise, I think it's solid and would use it with wind witches.

Because their on-Summon effects are mandatory. So I implemented those inhibitions to keep them from activating. That way you have at least one in your Monster Zone.

I'm gonna admit, I was expecting a ton of coin-flip and dice-roll stuff because Fickle. This is good, though, nice Scale split and I like the effects. I'd appreciate a bit of clarification on the Xyz's effect, namely, if it equips to a Monster, does it keep its Materials attached or do they automatically detach upon equip? This is something that would probably cause a lot of judge-calls were it to be implemented in the actual game.

this its actually a rather simple logic (so the judge call is not needed)..its the same case as Number 80 and Number 58 (appropriately the latter). if they removed due to equipping themselves while they have attached material, those material are sent to Graveyard (not detached obviously). similar to common occurance is you manage to destroy a Xyz Monster with materials

in case of Margaux here along with this archetype: if you don't negated or stop the activation of her effects on summon. the mandatory effect will kick in and equip her to available monster..sending the attached material (which kinda useless at that point) so if you want Margaux to stay as monster or wanna use her detach effect you better stop that mandatory equipping effect

Actually, Margaux's effect is optional. It's only the Main Deck monster's effects that are mandatory.
