Snatch Steal
You bumped this extremely early, by the way. Just thought you should know. Aries, as a cyber dragon, immediately has something going for it in its capability to create immediate field and hand presence. The 2200 ATK without Normal Summoning on top of a search can essentially assure you whichever Zodiac monster you wanted to Normal Summon on the second turn. Taurus’s ability to change to defense position seems to render its tiny ATK stat pointless, and along with its effect, there seems to be no skill involved in playing it. It would have more interaction if you removed the position change, because then it would require more thought behind whether your opponent would want to take it out or not. As nitpicky as this is, saying a monster can attack twice is distinctly different from saying a monster can make up to 2 attacks on monsters, which is the more balanced version, especially considering the monster is 2800 ATK that can potentially Deck Thin 4 cards at what is likely not a cost to you. Lower ATK would be nice, even as a Level 8 (which has utility with Trade-In, so you can use Call of the Haunted to bring it out). Cancer is definitely an interesting one, given it’s mostly a free summon that can reach 5000 ATK quite easily. I don’t quite mind the 5000 ATK monster as much as I mind what you can do with it; sending Gemini while you have Call of the Haunted set and the other Zodiac monster in graveyard can pretty much spell doom for your opponent as it is, and while that is a pretty hefty combo, it’s quite possible, given it only requires this card, Call of the Haunted, and 4 of any cards in hand, with at least 1 being a Zodiac monster. Leo confuses me quite a bit. It doesn’t have any synergy with the actual Deck, and rather just lets you net a free draw and makes you discard a card (which usually isn’t so bad). Its ATK is quite tremendous for an effect monster with no restrictions, as far as I’m concerned. To say the least, you’d be better off adding more to it, or perhaps changing the effect entirely. Virgo definitely has a lot of potential with its effect, although from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t let you summon much. You could go for Libra, which would probably be useable in a lot of Decks like Monarchs who run one for one to summon this and get out a banished Eidos thanks to Libra. Libra explains several of the effects that require you to banish your monsters, and thus, makes them less costs and more combo pieces. Since you can summon it via One for One, you can’t be bothered to just continue with your plays after you have your OTK, making even more monsters on board. Fortunately, you stopped a loop that could happen with Virgo, so I congratulate you on that. Scorpio allows you to prolong your existence by summoning another copy of itself, which can be used to survive a destruction, summon another one, and repeat that process until you get your key combo piece and begin making plays after your opponent can’t do much about the situation. I’d request you prevent it from selecting itself, because that would make it quite splashable and annoying. Sagittarius’s effect should be an activated effect during either player’s turn, because if you say he can’t be targeted while he’s being targeted, I think he may still get targeted. Either way, the protection is nice, but not really important, since its effects don’t do much to extend your plays outside of consistency, and you have to wait on your opponent to even do much with it. Capricorn appears to be a much weaker version of Aries, and thus wouldn’t be worth much. Its DEF is nice, but there are easier routes to get higher DEF. Also, I think the EARTH attribute isn’t very flavorful, since Capricorn is a sea creature. I wouldn’t play this card. Aquarius tries to balance itself, although I’m not sure how well. Repeatedly banishing cards on the field is quite obnoxious, but I wonder how many times you’d really get to do it seeing as there are only 2 cards in the Deck that search from the Deck. It also has mediocre stats, which don’t really warrant its self-removal. I think you should make it less bricky, because if you need removal and can’t get it without search cards, that makes your game a whole lot less fun. Pisces starts to go somewhere, playing into the hand-revelation, but then it just kind of drops off. What’s the point of summoning a monster with no effect outside of a free summon that doesn’t continue your plays any further than that and requires a good deal of setup to even play? You would be better off using Tour Guide or the Terrortop/Taketomborg engine, it seems. As interesting as Demon Soul Bond seems, I’m not sure that it was properly designed. For starters, it can be a Fusion, Synchro, or Pendulum Monster you’re summoning, meaning if you wanted to summon several D/D/D monsters, you’d be welcome to. You could summon Armades, Blood Mefist, pretty much any Evil HERO monster, any Frightfur monster, Infernoid Tierra, and god forbid Armityle the Chaos Phantom. To say the least, it’s a bit fishy, and doesn’t actually conform to the flavor of the deck. House of the Rising Evil, while OP on paper, is really just kind of sacky. I mean, imagine your opponent is about to kill you, you mill 10 fiends, and end up knocking out their LP to win; or, instead, you’re about to take the killing blow, but they you mill a card, and it’s a spell card, and you really do lose. To say the least, I wouldn’t want to rely on this card to keep me around. Edgar is another odd one, since it’s ridiculously splashable and can negate up to 6 attacks per turn without targeting. This means that Decks like Exodia, Final Countdown, Demise, and other stall tactics get a bit much love. The last effect seems fine, but there’s always Demise or other ways to profit and draw cards. Yeesh. Not sure what Temple Ruins is doing here, but it’s even more prominent than steeds, considering you can use both effects in the same turn. It also doesn’t target, so you can destroy a whole board of Kozmo ships or something. I’m not sure how many Zodiac monsters you could summon, but maybe there’s a way. I like Gabriella and all, but…how? How does it even come out? Is there any possible way you could reasonably get this out, and if you could, would you want to? The first effect is fine, since you’d have to use up 4+ cards just to make it, and the next one tries to expand upon the Deck’s flavor, but I fail to understand why you made this card Rank 8 without any actual way to make that work. I mean, if I had Gemini out, I’d want to poke my opponent as much as possible. All in all, there needs to be a way to bring this card out. Gabrielle is nice and all, but it’s overshadowed by Nightmare Shark in the long run. I guess the guaranteed 2400 is nice, but Nightmare Shark can do 4000 damage to your opponent. This is also considering there’s no effect outside of this—in fact, it only hurts itself, which is why it’s lest profitable. Kind of mediocre, to say the least, and not really worth giving an Xyz Monster another material. So uh, it protects itself once, and then…it makes you minus? I mean, I guess there’s potential behind banishing cards from your hand, but I would rather not do so more often than not unless I could guarantee a pathway for doing so. This is also considering the Deck doesn’t have any ways to actually Plus, so you could just progressively lose resources and struggle to keep going with your monsters getting banished. This is also for a rare summon, considering there’s no actual xyz engine with the Deck, so it wouldn’t be worth it in the slightest to make this card after getting lucky and pulling Aries and another level 5 onto the field. The Ultimate Zodiac Dragon really has no utility. It costs you 3 cards to lose your battle phase and let your opponent’s floaters wreak havoc on your board. You also have to summon it with Demon Soul Bond or Polymerization, using up 2-4 more cards. Disgrace seems pretty useful in negating S/Ts, and the burn can be helpful for ending games quickly, although I’m not sure that I’m a fan of the Polymerization or Soul bond tactics, considering Soul bond would probably have better options or just be ruled out as an overpowered card. I’d give the Deck an easier way to access this card. All in all, this is definitely a work in progress. The Deck has no real strategy, not much removal outside of Aquarius, and kind of struggles to access its powerful Extra Deck monsters. Also, the Spell/Trap Cards are not searchable, making the Deck even more cumbersome. You’d probably be better off using these cards in other Decks outside of their own, to be honest. Congratulations on your first set, by the way.
