Ren✧
<OoC> Diana woke to a brilliant sunrise. Stretching dramatically she let out a monstrous yawn and then a contented sigh as she lazily stared at the stained glass windows that painted her walls with vibrant shades of red, blue, purple, and orange, constantly shifting as the sun rose higher and allowed more of its glory to spill into her room. Looking at her alarm clock, she let out a squeal of delight. Today was the day. Today was THE day. The tournament was starting! A second squeal escaped her lips as she bounced out of bed, her airy, silk pajamas just barely grazing the smooth marble floors. As she twirled about her room, she picked up a bottle of wine and a glass that set next to her bedside. Throwing open her glass, balcony doors, Diana stepped out into the glorious morning air. From this high above the city, she could see all the way to the island's harbor. From behind the brilliance of the sun, the shapes of approaching ships could just be seen. Those would be the tournament participants. Pouring herself a glass of red, Diana sipped thoughtfully as she surveyed the rest of the city that had still not fully woke. The games were starting. BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ! The dull sound gently enticed Ash out of her sleep. Absentmindedly, she grabbed the vibrating photo and silenced the alarm before turning over in bed, staring up at the ceiling. It was strange that she was woken by her alarm. Usually she beat the alarm, more commonly waking up in a fit of panic well before 8 AM rolled around. Last night had been a good night. Only one nightmare. She tried to recall when exactly she had been woken up in the night. It had been after two in the morning, but it was definitely before four. Ash shrugged. It didn't matter. Returning her attention to her phone, she checked her messages. < 1 Unread Message> Opening it, the message contained a single emoticon. A smiling sun. Not even bothering to see who it was from, she dutifully rolled out of bed. She contemplated making it, but decided not to, leaving the comforter and sheets spilled out onto the floor. Briefly she looked at the two imprints still fresh on the hotel's mattress. The smaller one, the one on the left, was her own. The less pronounced one, the one on the right, was Carter's. Figuring she should probably go meet her boyfriend, she shrugged on her black sweater, letting it reveal one of her shoulders and opened the hotel room door. She hadn't bothered putting on pants, letting the sweater droop low enough to cover her panties. They had a room on the top floor, meaning that she was only one set stairs away from the roof. If someone chanced upon her between there and her room, then she would just have to trust they'd be comfortable seeing a half-dressed stranger. Personally, she didn't particularly care. Ascending the set of stairs to the roof, she opened the roof access door and was immediately bathed in the yellow glow of the rising sun. She shielded her eyes, waiting for them to adjust to the sudden burst of sunlight. Once they had, she spotted the silhouetted form of someone sitting perfectly still towards the edge of the roof. Making her way over, Ash bent over sliding her hands up the man's bare back and connecting them around the middle of his chest, embracing him in a quick hug. She then sat next to him, a slight breeze tickling the bottoms of her feet as she dangled them over the sprawling city below. "Good morning, beautiful." Carter said, his body giving no indication that his girlfriend had just sat down beside him. He sat cross legged on the ledge, his back completely straight, eyes closed, as he gently took in the dull warmth that the morning had brought to Archanum City. "Is it?" She replied, gently resting against Carter's shoulder. Carter opened his eyes, bringing his arm around Ash to draw her closer to him. "It will be." He promised, kissing the top of her head. Ash just grumbled in response, giving little indication of whether or not she was in agreement. "What time is the Kick Off?" Carter asked, absentmindedly stroked Ash's arms as she leaned into him. "Eleven." "We should probably start getting ready." He prompted. "I know." "Okay." The couple continued to sit on the roof, taking in the grandeur of the sunrise and the scent of one another.[spoiler=GM Post]Welcome to Archanum Island! Whether you've been here for a few days or are just arriving, today is the start of the tournament! The schedule says to meet in the courtyard of Archanum Manor, the castle-sized mansion at the epicenter of town. Be there by 11! Try to incorporate some reference to the time in your post(as in, "it's 9 in the morning") so that we have a better idea of not only where but when your character is. So glad we've gotten off the ground! Let's start strong!!!
Immortal Chaos
Greed had been up long before the sunrise had started. He sat in his room on the ground floor, looking out the window. His attention occasionally shifted into the room itself, but eventually went back to the window to watch the rising sun. As soon as the day began to break, he looked to his watch and noted the time. His hand reached into his pocket and took out a pen, joting the time down on a small piece of paper before looking up outside yet again. A small sigh escaped his lips as he stretched in his chair and turned around to face the room. His eyes scanned over the room and each one of his pokemon. The Infernape "Wrath" sat propped up in a corner with it's head down, still fast asleep in a slight meditation stance. "Envy", his Zoroark, laid curled up on the bed, taking up the whole spread of it. The other pokemon rested in their pokeballs, the room not being big enough to house everyone in their natural states. He pushed up off the chair and cracked his knuckles before going oner to the bed and gently nudged the sleeping pokemon. "Envy, time to get up, sun's rising and we should get everyone some air." The Zoroark opened one of her eyes and growled softly but sat up slowly and yawned, opening it's maw nice and wide. Next he walked over to the corner and nudged the Infernape awake gently. "Wrath, get up, we have work to do my friend." The infernape's eyes shot open and he nodded, standing up to look his trainer in the eyes. Greed nodded slowly and motioned for Envy and Wrath to follow him as he opened the door. They walked into the hallway and out the front door into the new day's light. Greed looked at his watch and noted the time. 9 AM it said, two more hours till the tournament kicked off. He took in the sunlight and nodded to his pokemon before he started towards the park, his two pokemon close behind him.
Tesability Black
~Neos and Mistress Mew~ A pair of Pidgeots were sound asleep within one of the many trees of the tournament grounds of the strangely-named 'Tournament of Legends'. The sun shown through the thick foliage, though only barely, upon one of the two birds, whom let out a high-pitched yawn before stretching out a wing towards the bird next to it to try and shake it awake. "Time to awaken." "...five more minutes..." Though the beak wasn't designed to allow for such, the awake Pidgeot managed such as it shook its head. Though the smile disappeared as it looked toward the snoozing Pokemon, clearing its beak at it glared at it. "Awaken, Antonio." "...inowanna..." And blue eyes roll up towards the sky as it lifted its head for a moment before it glanced around the immediate area. Satisfied that there was no one around to see what may happen, at least not among the humans, the blue-eyed Pidgeot inhaled deeply before letting out a shriek right into the snoozer's would-be ear. "WAKE UP!" "I'm up!" With a jolt did the former sleeping bird awaken, causing it to fall off the branch in shock and land square on its back upon the grass below. "Ow....what was that for," it complained, looking back up towards the other Pidgeot with eyes whose irises were a strange neon-green with a dark-green color where the pupils should be. The normal-looking Pidgeot, whom actually seemed slightly smaller come to think of it, pointed up towards a nearby building with a clockface upon it. 9:10am "You have an hour and fifty minutes before that tournament starts...and I have sensed a lot of power throughout this area as of late." A halfhearted chuckle managed to escape the beak of the odd Pidgeot before stretching out its wings, which prompted a sad sparkle to enter the normal one's eyes. "I'm sure this generation can handle what may come." It flapped its wings before flying back up into the tree's lush canopy. Hidden from view did a bluish light emerge from within the leaves before another figure hopped out of the tree, this one a human. Compared to most humans, this guy seemed rather-odd. He stood at a high 6'4" and had a deceptively-lanky build. His outfit, which has often been compared to something called a 'pimp suit' to his annoyance, was primarily a mix of yellow and purple, a definite eyesore to most eyes. Fortunately, the purple was of a slightly-darker shade and the yellow was more of a golden yellow. Over shoulder-length, untamed hair sat a yellow hat with a rather-wide brim, a band of orange connecting the brim to the rest of the hat. Over his chest, resting upon the black of the shirt he wore underneath the jacket, was a light-bluish jewel that seemed to glow from the core. The strangest part of this person, however, was the eyes. The irises were of a neon-green color and the pupils were a dark-green color instead. He stretched his arms to the sky and let out a loud yawn before looking up towards the tree, whose leaves almost touched his nose. A tired look was on his face as he did, with such not being sourced from just being asleep not that long ago. "I'm sure things will be alright, Mistress. You've been strangely worried lately." A rustling became heard as what sounded like something else coming out of the trees because caught by the man's ears, though nothing visible emerged. He still managed a halfhearted sideways smile as he felt something small sit on his right shoulder, with a long tail wrapping around his waist and what felt like long paws resting over part of his chest. "I do hope you're right." Pulling away the left part of the primarily golden-yellow jacket, he could see the nine red-and-white orbs that he had on him as well as the one white one in the group. Nodding at their sight, he allowed the jacket to rest back over his simple black shirt, the bluish jewel from his home still glowing with a fair bit of strength. Though there wasn't much reason to do so at his age, more out of habit than anything else did he steel his nerve before heading towards where the tournament check-in would be held, hoping to be ready before too much happened. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Naomi was floating on a lake. A purple lake. A purple lake that was filled with grape soda. She had a straw leading from her mouth and into the lake. Underneath her was a rainbow colored Mantine that she was using as a floatation device.Naomi waved to the clouds floating high above her, and they responded by raining gumdrops on her. Which she gladly opened her mouth to devour. Everything was very peaceful, off on an island there were a trio of giant Ludicolo dancing to the music coming out of a Loudred. Naomi giggles as she watched the Remoriad have a water gun fight with the Wingull. All was well, and then a gentle voice came from the sky. “Guardian, you must wake up.”Naomi let out a groan. “Do I haf'ta?” She could feel the mental prodding from her partner legend, Cresselia, trying to wake her up.“Guardian, it is several minutes to 11 already.” Cresselia said. Her tone was still gentle, but with a slight authoritative edge.“Wha' bout it?” Naomi said. Usually she wasn’t up until noon or later, why should this be any different?“The message had told you to meet at 11, you really should wake up now.” Naomi mumbled something unintelligible, but obviously had no plans on getting up. “Have it your way then, Guardian. Princess would you be so kind as to lend a hand?”And so it was that Naomi was without further ado, deposited suddenly and forcibly onto the ground. Her eyes flew open as she struggled to a sitting position. She had been sleeping on the back of her Rhydon, Princess, all night long. And after the request from Cresselia, Princess decided the quickest way to wake up his lazy trainer was to stand up and let gravity do the work for her.“Princeeeeess, ya traitor!” Naomi said, before giggling and giving the Rhydon a sheepish smile. “Mornin’.” She looked around her surroundings with blurry eyes. They had booked a room at the hotel but Naomi had gotten lost while trying to find it and wound up just wandering around until she fell asleep. From what little Naomi had learned the night before, however, it appeared they were smack dab in the middle of the courtyard of Archanum Manor.“See?” She said, to Princess and the Cresselia inside its Pokeball at her side. “Nothin ta worry bout.” Naomi let out a yawn and began swaying. In the next moment she collapsed backwards, asleep once more.Meanwhile a young girl was putting a mask over her face. She attached the bracelet, which contained her key stone for mega-evolution, to her wrist and stood. “It’s time to get to work.” She muttered before slipping into position overlooking the courtyard. There were legends nearby, Luna could feel it. She would be patient for now, but her prey was waiting.
Sethera
Beep beep beep beep A young boy with pink hair shifted underneath the covers, face scrunching before blinking drowsy green eyes open. Beep beep beep beep Face quickly forming into a scowl, the boy sat up, turning his whole body toward the source of the disturbance. A standard issue Poké Ball alarm clock, common in hotels such as this one. Quickly flicking the switch to "off" the pinkette shifted out of the covers, rubbing his eyes before groping around the end table for his glasses. Not that his eyes needed them, but they gave him a sense of security. "All right," he mumbled, glancing at the clock which read 8:00 AM. He had stayed up till eleven reading about the tournament rules and later on an adventure novel to relax him. It was part of his nightly ritual: to read before bed. But even with that, he still had plenty of time to get ready. "Always be prepared, Quinn," he smiled to himself. Soon it would be time to leave. Clipping his Poké Balls to his jacket like usual, the boy rose from the bed and washed up. By the time he finished with that and ate breakfast, an hour had passed. Leaving the hotel had him passing by more than a few people who also looked like they were headed the same direction. Not that that was surprising. The Tournament of Legends was a huge event. People from all over Totus traveled here just to watch it, let alone participate. He was lucky he had booked and reserved a hotel ahead of time, though it had less to do with luck and more with his ability to plan ahead. The opening ceremony would start at eleven, so Quinn had more than enough time to explore the place or just take his time. Unfortunately, he had already had his fill of exploring the week he had been at Archanum Island, so he would probably spend most of his time waiting. The pink-haired boy passed by a girl fast asleep on a Rhyhorn. Looks like somebody didn't get enough sleep, he thought, before sitting down on one of the park benches to wait. I hope this goes well...that there won't be any "disturbances."A young lady with long black hair in twin tails yawned from her position near the courtyard, glancing up at the sky. It was far too early. Still, it was time. Time to get going. Idly, she wondered how her brother was doing. Or rather, sister. No, both. Whatever. Things had gotten strange ever since she left home ten years ago. And from what I hear, Quinn's been making a name for herself...himself. Well, the girl is the one who's been attracting attention. Tugging at the scarf around her neck, the woman glanced down at her Houndoom, lying by her feet. "Let's go, Doom. The hunt has started." She would try her best not to target her little sibling's legendary, but all was fair in love, war, and Pokémon battles.
Mr. Hyde
"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn............" Oz had finally woken up this beautiful morning. He turned his head to the left of his bed to notice the digital clock read 9:00 A.M. His internal biological clock had never stirred him wrong. Upon waking up, Oz felt a warmth, and a pretty significant pressure, on his chest. Poking his head up, Helen had taken it upon herself to get out of her pokeball, and promptly cuddle with her trainer. It was a good thing the Typhlosion's mane was not lit...or Oz might have woken up a little less calmly. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the cuddling of his beloved companion, but his was on a strict time restraint, so he had to awaken the volcano....no matter how bad of an idea that sounded. He poked Helen's face, pushing her cheek fat into the spaces in between her teeth, to no avail. The only other option was to force himself from underneath her. He gathered all of the manly strength he could muster, and shoved from underneath Helen. As he squeezed out easier than he expected, another problem arose. He had pushed himself out of the bed, which was fairly high off the ground. "I don't want to be in pain for the first day of this tournament....so let's take the easy way out shall we?" he calmly thought. A rift opened in the space beneath Oz, and he sank into it, seemingly vanishing from thin air. Another rift had opened up parallel to the fridge in the house, and Oz popped out from it smack dab into the refrigerator. "Oh....Ouch....Physics" He adjusted his glasses, which thankfully weren't busted. He opened the fridge and gathered some eggs, and a trusty frying pan. The stove heat and crackling of fried eggs woke the dormant Helen, and she puffed her cheeks in annoyance at her trainer not allowing her to fry his eggs for him. Oz shrugged. "Helen...your flames burn the eggs every time you try to heat them up for me...you aren't the same little Cyndaquil who wak cooking meals for me in the wild you know?" The Typhlosion had already made its way into the kitchen, hugging her trainer as he cooked on the stove. "Listen Helen...i've got a bad feeling about this tournament, but we aren't the types to pass up on a challenge. Archanum Island will know the name Oz Porter no matter the outcome!" Oz shouted at the top of his lungs, as some grease from the frying pan smacked him on the cheek. With a bandage on his cheek, and Helen following suit poking it, Oz finally made it to the park where the event was soon to take place. Some people had already made it, but Oz wasn't here to make friends, even if they were worthy adversaries.
Hälō
“Do you regret not finding someone of your own?” The voice of the legendary Raikou echoed from somewhere within Jared’s mind, as he sat atop the ledge of one of Archanum city’s hotel buildings. His cyan gaze had settled on a couple that seemed to also be enjoying the sunrise from the building directly across from him, and it lingered there for a peculiarly long time. Smiling slightly at the Thunder Pokemon’s question, the boy ripped his gaze from the strawberry blonde, and the shirtless man who seemed to have been practicing meditation , now placing it on the small black form of the Weavile that sat dozing next to him. “Not at all.” Jared spoke in his usual soft, but confidant tone as he continued to observe his Weavile in it’s slumber. “People like us can’t offered to have something like that…” “Good Answer.” Raikou’s voice was rugged and full of authority, but somehow Jared still managed to sense the small traces of approval in the beast’s words. “You’ve changed since our journey began...” “Was that a compliment I just heard?” “Of course not.” Sensing it’s master’s gaze, Jared’s Weavile stirred slightly, before opening it’s eyes to observe it’s surroundings. Upon widening it’s senses to the morning air, and taking in the sights and cents of dreary city bellow, the small black pokemon turned to Jared and grunted inquiringly. “Yea, there are others like Raikou here.” Jared smiled at his pokemon warmly, before extending his hand towards the Weavile who was now beaming with an odd mixture of excitement and bloodlust. “But remember, we’re here to protect them.” Jared’s Weavile nodded obediently, before placing one of its paw inside it’s master’s hand; a small smirk forming on the pokemon’s face as Jared tightened his grip. “We’re to meet at the castles courtyard in a few hours. I feel it would be best to scout the area beforehand.” The boy simply nodded in agreement. His targets, the Legend Hunters, would definitely try and get a scope of the land, especially with the rumors of the three Lake Pokemon dwelling on this island… he’d need to be prepared. Taking one final look at the couple that had caught is interest, the boy’s lips curled into a smirk. He’d crush each and every one of the legend hunters that had gathered here, so that the other guardians could continue to have bonds such as the one that those two people shared. With that, the boy gently pulled his Weavile into his arms, before calmly sliding off the edge of the building. As the pair began to plummet towards the ground bellow, Jared causally reached on to his belt; placing his hand on one of the five pokeballs that rested there. “Noivern…”
Ren✧
"It appears that Crayton Sanders, heir to the Sanders Technology Empire has just arrived. Much controversy has surrounded this young billionaire's participation in the tournament and many speculate that he just doesn't have the experience to make it very far in the tournament. However, if there is one thing that Mr. Sanders has proved in his numerous daring exploits it's that he's not afraid of a challenge." A news reporter commented into a microphone, the cameraman filming her as she stood in front of a huge, luxurious yacht that had just pulled into the Archanum City docks. Stepping off the yacht, a young man in disheveled formal attire walked up behind the broadcaster that was covering the start of the Tournament of Legends, his classic charming smile on his face. "You can say that again." He said with a chuckle. "I may not have the experience, per say, but you can bet that I've got the guts to do whatever it takes tow in. You can quote me on that one." Winking into the camera, the novice Legend Hunter sauntered off, sports jacket draped over his shoulder. Checking his watch, he saw that it was 10:30. He needed to be at Archanum Manor in half an hour. Retrieving his Pocket World V5 from his pocket, he briefly looked over a map to get where he needed to go. It didn't look difficult to get to the mansion, Archanum Manor was practically in the very center of the town. "And so the hunt begins..." He said to himself, whistling as he walked down the Archanum City sidewalks. "Babe, come on. We need to get going." Ash called. She was once again standing in the hotel room she shared with Carter. They had spent a little too long staring off into the sunrise and were now pressed for time. If Carter didn't hurry up and get out of the bathroom, they were going to be late. "Sorry, sweets. Ya know, we could have saved time if you had let me shower with you..." He said jokingly as he stepped out of the bathroom, slipping on his red t-shirt. Ash met his quip with an eyeroll. "Let's go." She commanded, opening the door for her boyfriend.
~British Soul~
Day of the tournament; 9:08am Stretching his arms as he woke up from inside his hammock, Steve tilted his head to the right looking towards the horizon. "To think I've come so far, yet we're almost there." Steve thought as he grabbed the tree behind him, leaned to the right and jumped off with the force of his feet, bending his legs before hitting the ground. ~ 9:23am Polishing off the last of his can of Relentless and finishing the last bites of his chocolate bar, Steve reached fo Flygon's pokeball indicating that it was time to fly towards Archanum Island. "Ok Flygon, the time is now." Releasing Flygon from his pokemon, the Mystic pokemon glanced at his trainer and leaned forward so that its trainer can climb aboard. ~ 10:18am Riding through the brisk north-westerly winds on top of his Flygon, despite it being a lovely day, Steve was closing in on Archanum Island and as he was approaching his docking point, a group of Finneon leapt from the waters as a form of greeting, only to recede back a few seconds later."What a beautiful sight." Steve mused as Flygon prepared to make ts descent. As soon as he reached the optimal altitude, Steve ordered Flygon to veer to the left ever so slightly so that he can jump off without hurting his pokemon. As he reached a safe distance and the winds starting to die down, Steve slowly stood up and a few moments later, "KIIYYYAAA!" he leapt off the pokemon and as soon as he hit the ground, he performed a somersault and brushed the dirt off his clothes before returning Flygon to its pokeball. "Master, I sense a number of strong trainers here.""Indeed." Steve telepathically replied to Latios as he took out his PDA to confirm the time that he needed to be at the manor. "11:00am? Plenty of time." ~ 10:37am As he was walking towards the courtyard, Steve began to see other trainers arrive, and there defintely was a good variety of them too, however they were of no concern at the moment seeing as the tournament hasn't started yet. Stopping for a brief moment, he took out Sceptile's pokemon and said, "Well old friend, it's almost time." and before continuing heading towards the courtyard he looked to the skies as the sun shone as a ray of hope to those entering the tournament. ~ Time of arrival at the courtyard; 10:41am ~
Immortal Chaos
Greed looked back at his watch as he entered the courtyard. His eyes looked over the different trainers funneling into the area. Some seemed strong, some....not so impressive to him. He sniffed once or twice as he watched everyone, one of his habits he found so hard to break. His eyes turned to Wrath, standing to his right side, then Envy, standing on his left. The two pokemon looked back at their trainer and nodded, as if they had a full conversation in their heads. Green moved his coat and without touching the pokeballs on his belt, the two pokemon vanished in a flash of the familliar red light. "No sense in letting everyone get a glance of your team. I like the element of surprise...." He trailed off in his head as he made his way deeper into the courtyard. The ceremony should be starting up soon, and Greed wanted a front row seat when it did. Admiral_Stalfos19
On a flight towards Archanum Island, Professor Gesine Guelder had been solving logic problems to bypass the time, but had glanced at a TV screen in front of her. It showed the current flight path of the plane that she had boarded to get to Archanum, and according to it, the plane couldn't arrive at the airport there until 10:59am. The captain of the flight did warn everyone that there'd be a delay due to unexpected turbulence, but still... "Hmm... zat is schtill tventy-two minutes avay..." Prof. Guelder noted, before turning to her Meloetta. The Melody Pokemon had been trying her best to enjoy a chocolate chip cookie that she'd been eating, but before she could take another bite, she felt her stomach expanding, and clutched her arms around her waist to try and stop it. Meloetta was a small Pokemon, and surely couldn't eat as much as any human. But usually she'd be able to finish the cookie. "Somesink wrong?" asked Prof. Guelder, "I sought you liket zee cookie," "Oh, I do, but..." Meloetta paused for a moment, "But breakfast was so heavy and greasy and... I don't think I can eat this any more..." Prof. Guelder could only sigh and roll her eyes at the Melody Pokemon as she waited for her stomach to settle; she shouldn't have tried to eat so much. Regardless, there wasn't much they could do but hope it didn't cause any further setbacks. It was better to be fashionably late than miss the tournament altogether. Meanwhile, at 10:41am, Damian Fletcher was running, albeit in a girly fashion, in a direction that the Archanum Manor in which he was supposed to meet up with all the other participants was in. Show Stopper, a Masquerain that had always followed Damian around wherever he went, thankfully had the eyes to quickly note the signs that the two had passed to ensure her master was going in the right direction as he pushed people aside, saying excuse me and apologizing a lot. Eventually, Show Stopper paused as she noted the shape of one sign in particular, observing it closely. 'Welp, looks like we're here. You can rest ea-...' Show Stopper looked up, only to note where Damian was headed, 'LOOK OUT!! You're heading straight for a Rhydon, you idiot!" 'Wait, wha-?' sure enough, Damian ran smack dab into the side of a Rhydon that had just been standing there. As he recovered, Damian brushed off the skirt and blouse he was wearing and his femininely shaped hair, when he noted the Rhydon that he'd ran into. In particular, Damian noted it was wearing a cute-looking pink bow on it... and he thought he was pushing it; trying his very best to appear as a woman. Still, if this Rhydon were anything like Warchief, his Rhyperior or Buckaroo, his Haxorus, it'd be none too happy that it was run into. Having two aggressive Pokemon himself, he knew better than to just ignore that fact. "Oh... geez, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to run into you like, you poor thing..." of course, Damian could just as easily apologize to the Rhydon via telepathy, but he wanted the apology to be heard by the trainer as well, who would've probably been woken up by his blundering. Ren✧
As the chime for the eleventh hour sounded, the majority of trainers had gathered the courtyard of Archanum Manor. It was truly a marvel to behold. Comparable to the towering castles of kingdoms that had long since passed, the mansion dwarfed the crowd that had gathered before it. The trainers looked around expectantly eager for the tournament to begin. They chattered aimlessly among themselves, some of them just enjoying another's company, some of them scoping for future rivals, and yet still some that were up to something even more nefarious. Regardless, they all fell silent as music blasted from hidden speakers around the courtyard. Practically as one, the crowd all turned to look at the balcony high above them. Stepping on to the platform was an olive skinned woman dressed in an elegant gown. A glass of what appeared to be red wine sloshed slightly in her unsteady hand as she stumbled towards the edge of the balcony to overlook the crowd. To some of the more observant members of the audience they may have noticed the small Pokemon that accompanied the woman, a Spinda that appeared to be just as uneasy as its owner. Leaning haphazardly over the banister, the woman began to address the crowd, her voice magnified by the same unseen speakers that signaled her entrance. "Welcome Pokemon Trai *hiccup* ners!" She said, raising her arms to drink in the chorus of cheers that erupted from the crowd. Taking a sip from her glass, she continued. "I am your host. *hiccup* Diana Espinoza and I am so excited to welcome you all here to Archa *hiccup* num. Now, I'm sure you're all very eager to get started, so I'll cut right to the chase." This statement was met with another chorus of cheers from the crowd, giving Diana another chance to drink from her glass before continuing. "The preliminary round of this tournament will take place across the entire island! Upon exiting the courtyard you will be given a carrying case, similar to *hiccup* badge cases that you use to carry the badges from various Pokemon Gyms. In it, you will find two Staryu Chips. You will have 72 hours to get that number up to 10. How do you do that, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. You'll be challenging one another to Pokemon battles and betting your Star *hiccup* yu Chips on whether or not you'll win. Winner gets whatever it is that was agreed upon. Alright that's all. Be off! *hiccup* " Diana retreated back into the manor leaving the throngs of trainers to file out of the courtyard, receive their Staryu Chips, and get to battling. [spoiler=GM Post]Pokemon Battles Galore! If you want to get to the next round of the tournament you're gonna have to get your hands on some more Staryu Chips. If your a Legend Hunter, I'd keep your eyes peeled. Over the next few days, someone is bound to slip up and show their hand. If you have any questions you can send them to Hydreigon and I via PM or ask in the OoC. Keep up the good work you guys!
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Naomi was startled awake by a voice. She blinked a dozen times before slowly standing up and looking around. It seemed a girl had run into Princess. And was apologizing to the Rhydon. Her Princess was a sweet Pokemon, used to having Naomi on top of her. And as such she had learned to be patient and gentle. There was no need for this chick to be so worried. Naomi giggled. "You're a funny one. Dontcha worry bout a thing." Naomi gestured for Princess and the Pokemon crouched down. Naomi grabbed hold of the horn and pulled herself up, stumbling slightly in the process. "Might's well get up eh?" She looked around in a bit of a daze until she remembered there was someone by her. "I'm Naomi by the way, guess things're gonna start soon..." Sure enough, as Naomi said that there was a stirring, and a woman came up to address them all. Naomi started trying to pay attention. She really gave it her all...But after the second sentence her gaze glazed over and she just stared absentmindedly as the woman made some sort of announcement. She must have dozed off because next thing she knew people were on the move. There was excitement in the air and she wasn't sure why."Whazzup?" She muttered."Guardian, you really need to pay more attention." Came the scolding voice of Cresselia from inside her Pokeball. What followed was a summary of what was to happen.Naomi groaned. "I hoped it was a...a...bracket thingy, this sounds like work. Eh, guess we might get lucky and stumble across some fights." With her not-a-plan plan in mind, Naomi went to receive her case. It had taken Luna a bit longer to reach the courtyard. She had gotten distracted with her thoughts about how the food she ate for breakfast tasted and when she came around she was on the wrong side entirely. She managed to make it just in time for the woman's speech.Luna was somewhat annoyed the woman had her name, especially since she seemed to be a drunk. But that wasn't the important part. What mattered was that the style of tournament meant that she might have a good chance to take out a legend without any interference. If it had been a more regulated tournament with arenas and crowds she would struggle much more.So she decided she would pick out a target and follow them, to learn if they had a legend or not. But the question was, who? She was sure there were other hunters about and she wouldn't let them beat her to the punch. There had to be an easy target somewhere... Tesability Black
~Tayla and Cysero~Tayla resisted the urge to have her head meet her laptop as she just stared at the supposed hostess with narrowed eyes and a slightly-opened jaw, the fingers on her right hand tapping themselves over the thin machine.Did this chick seriously just straight-up rip this off from that one old, failed cartoon several years ago where, instead of being in Pokeballs, Pokemon were monsters on cards...?"...note to self: the hostess is unimaginative," she remarked before standing up onto her feet and pulling out a white Pokeball from a pouch on her belt. She tapped the laptop with it, which strangely recalled the machine into the orb with a white line of energy instead of the typical red one."Welp," she stated as she looked up towards the Porygon-Z that floated beside her. "Shall we get this show on the road?""But of course," was its response. Before she really started to do anything else, she rolled up her left sleeve, revealing a silver rectangular device, a few screens upon it to monitor various things as well as a few buttons to sort through such information with. One side, the side closest to her wrist, seemed to open up for some reason. Simple in appearance, complex in use. Taking a moment to refit the leather bindings that kept it in place, since it was cutting into her wrist from her making it too tight earlier, she smirked and rolled the sleeve back over it before beginning to scan the other contestants with her eyes, finding herself avoiding the man in the horrendously-bright attire with her gaze.Seriously, that combination of yellow and purple is just...ow.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Antonio and Mistress Mew~"...and I am already getting a bad feeling about this," he heard from the invisible Mew on his shoulder, feeling as her long tail slightly-clenched around his waist in negative anticipation.Unfortunately, he already knew he couldn't react to this at all, not even to speak. Unlike most Guardians, he didn't develop any form of telepathy, so he could even think towards her any thoughts to ease her. Instead, he chose to raise his hands far over his head, stretching them out before allowing them to fall to his sides once more. "I guess it's time to rumble," he said with a slight chuckle. "Who's gonna be the first to faceplant, I wonder.""Hopefully not you, this time," he heard Mistress Mew retort to his words, a slight chuckle among her own, which suggested that he slightly won on this front. Even so, he only barely resisted the urge to groan upon hearing it.Head quite literally over everyone else's due to his height, he glanced over everyone before stretching out his arms wide like a ringleader. "Who wishes to be the first to battle," he loudly asked all around, a general challenge that anyone was welcome to accept.
Admiral_Stalfos19
"Oh! Er, my name's Kassidy," Damian never was all that comfortable with lying to another person, but already having decided that he'd use the alias of Kassidy Rivera made giving his name easier... not to mention it'd be more believable given his current guise, "It was nice meeting you, Naomi. I'll... see you around." With that, he left to get himself further into the crowd. However... 'Well that went impossibly well...' Show Stopper scoffed in a sarcastic tone. 'Hey, shut up! I wasn't expecting such a mellow Rhydon from that young woman either!' Damian retorted, before thinking more about it, 'I just hope that doesn't compromise its effectiveness in battle. I mean, I've already got Warchief in the box, so it's not like I can profit from stealing it away or anything...' But as he went further into the crowd, Damian grew a heavy feeling in his heart. He knew this feeling; he'd feel it whenever he'd get close to someone with a great deal of sin, such as a seasoned criminal. But this bad? It felt like a massive prison break just happened and everyone decided to meet up here! This feeling was solidified when the hostess of the tournament said her stuff while drunk off her ass. Something was seriously wrong, but Damian couldn't put his finger on it. 'Come on; let's just get those Staryu Chips and work from there,' said a somewhat concerned Show Stopper, 'You said you had a game-plan in mind, right?' 'Yeah... I did...' reluctantly, Damian put the thought he had in the back on his mind and moved on. He knew he had to find a Rhyperiorite for Warchief, and he knew he had to find someone with a Magnezone so he could trade for or steal it. He also had wanted to see Naomi's Rhydon in action. As for what he was gonna do after he did those three things, Damian decided that he was gonna cross that bridge when he came to it.
Mr. Hyde
"Oz....did you hear that speech...or did you space out again? You must be careful here, there are dark presences here and i know you can feel them as well." A voice rang in Oz's head. "Oh...Palkia....you snapped me out my pondering....say...what do you think is inside a Dusk Stone...or a Dawn Stone for that matter." "I am an infinite being that lies in the realm between space and next to time...i know all these answers....figure it out for yourself human. Now were you listening to the speech or not?" Palkia had had to deal with Oz's dumb deep questions before, but this was growing tedious and annoying for the ruler of space. "Rude....I didn't need such harsh feedback. Anyway, I heard some hiccuping...what else happened?" Oz could feel the facepalm through time and space. "Exit the courtyard, battle trainers, and acquire Staryu Chips by betting them on battles...you need 10 to advance to the next round." Palkia repeated the info in a sluggish tone to make sure Oz comprehended all of it. "Seems easy enough....but why couldn't they have been Starmie Chips? Probably cost concerns right? You'd have to add a whole entire Staryu to the back of the other...and it wouldn't be as compact...never mind Palk, i answered my own question." There was no response from the giant pink kaiju, so Oz decided to be on his way. Helen had been beside him the entire time, and pouted at Oz. She was jealous that he and Palkia could communicate telepathically. Looking at her current mood made Oz uneasy at what she might try to do....again. "Please don't try to use Extrasensory on me again Helen..that's not how telepathy works!" There was certainly the cavalcade of trainers in the vicinity. A Rhydon with a bowt caught his eye, and the girl riding it seemed special in some way. Were there other Guardians here? Perhaps...it would only make sense that trainers Guarding strong pokemon would be good trainers seeking competition just like him. "Who wishes to be the first to battle," A voice from the crowd echoed, like the voice of some sort of entertainer. One could say that his choice of clothing was rather entertaining in and of itself. The sight did not delight Oz though, it just bothered him. He adjusted his glasses on his face as the glare blinded the people around him. "It's been a while since i've fought a clown...and today isn't going to be the day i start that funny business again." The delivery could've been better. Helen showed her appreciation for her trainer's humor by unleashing the flames around her neck and smiling, as if meaning to say "OOOOOOH BURN!" Oz spoke up again, this time directly to the man. "By the way pal...we haven't even received our cases yet...so you might want to get one before you lose all of your chips immediately!" Oz took his time to stroll out of the central park, where he was greeted by tournament officials who handed him a small box. Upon opening the box, he looked at his shiny new Staryu Chips. His eyes glimmered as the detail on them was simply incredible. The gem in the center looked incredibly similar to that of a ruby, and the metallic eye casing shone in the sunlight. The Staryu's appendages were also rough to the touch. "I-Incredible. These....these chips are pristine in quality...I'm on the verge of tears Helen. I hope we get to keep at least one as a souvenir! It'll look nice next to our trophy!" He took time from aweing at the chip to turn around. Pushing up his glasses to make sure the glare blocked out his eyes, he spoke to the people that could hear him. "Don't challenge me if you're weak...I came here looking for a challenge...not a slaughter." And with his closing statement, Oz walked away, heading towards what he saw was a forest area. gustavph7292
9:58a.m.Roy rode across the waves of the lake, on his hover board. Flying just high enough to where the waves wouldn't touch neither of them.'Told you, you should've set an alarm.' Lugia, the ruler of the ocean, spoke to him.'I didn't expect you to keep me up all night with stories either.' Roy irritatingly thought back. He pulled out a small cell phone like device and flipped the screen sideways, showing his current speed and height on the board. '6ft height, 30MPH, I should be able to make it to the mansion on time still.''Hmmm, this lake has some pretty interesting things in it.''What are you talking about?' Lugia stopped talking to him through their link. 'Oh, so now you stop talking.''I can't tell you, that would ruin the surprise.' Roy could feel the smirk coming from Lugia.'Whatever, I still have an hour left, talk to you later.' With that Roy cranked up the speed on his hover board to max, 35 MPH. 10:45Roy rode across the sky of Archanum Island, just above the mansion. Roy started looking for other trainers in the vicinity. A Rhydon, with a pink bow 'OK, that's not strange at all. Never mind what is that guy wearing?' He spotted what seemed like the tallest guy there wearing some awfully bright colors. Lowering his board near the rear of the crowed Roy unlocked the board from his shoes and jumped off. Grabbing the board and stuffing it under his arm. After the speech, Roy silently grabbed his Staryu Chips, and walked out of the manor, behind him he could hear people making challenges already. a bad post
As the inebriated Ms. Espinoza finished her speech hundreds of excited trainers flooded from mansion's courtyard eager for battle. Some of the more excitable ones could even be seen starting matches right in front of the mansion. One such eager beaver trainer named Ryan scanned the area around the courtyard hurriedly trying to pick out an opponent so he could score an early 2 Staryu chips. His eyes fell on an older looking woman who had distanced herself from the crowd, scanning it from its outer edges. From her looks Ryan could tell she was ready for battle and it fired him up. "Hey! You!" Ryan dashed up to the blue haired woman pointing an accusatory finger at her, "I hope you're ready for the ass kicking I'm about to send your way!" "Oh, you don't want to battle me young man," the woman smiled obligingly, "I'm much too far beyond your skill level." "Who do you think you are!?" the brash boy fumed, "Ha! I bet you're just scared I'll beat you! C'mon ya chicken!" "Well, I'll give one thing kid, ya got spirit that's for sure..." the lady in blue sighed, "alright, I'll give you your battle, but I'm only going to take one of your chips if I win, I don't want to knock such a spirited kid out of the tournament so soon." "You're on! Come on out Donphan!" The young man tossed a Pokeball into the air, which in a flash of light, produced the armored elphant-like Pokemon. "Florges, take the stage~!" the woman said, tossing out a Pokeball of her own, revealing the blue Single Bloom Pokemon, "make the first move, please." The woman gave a wave of her hand, a confident smile on her face. "Grr...! Now yer askin' for it! Donphan, Roll Out!" "Florges, Petal Blizzard if you please..." As the Armor Pokemon neared Florges it found itself impacting a wall of pink flower petals, and in little time was overpowered and thrown back as if it weighed little more than a small cloth doll. "Ugh! Donphan, c'mon geddup! You can do it!" Even as his Trainer shouted the injured Donphan struggled to regain its footing. "Sorry, kiddo, but this ends here. Florges Moonblast!" The Single Bloom Pokemon's flowers shone for but a moment before a large flash of silvery energy flew towards the wounded Pokemon putting down for the count. "Wow!" "Holy crap, she's good!" "That kid couldn't even hit her!" "I can't believe it..." This, and exclamations of surprise rose from the crowd that had gathered to watch the duo's battle. "I warned ya, kid." The woman in the blue shirt said, shaking her head, "now that will be one Staryu chip please." "Fine." Dejected the young man placed half of his initial chips into the woman's outstretched hand, and with her prize in hand walked off with her Florges quite proud of herself. Sethera
"The preliminary round of this tournament will take place across the entire island! You'll be challenging one another to Pokemon battles and betting your Star *hiccup* yu Chips on whether or not you'll win. Winner gets whatever it is that was agreed upon. Alright that's all. Be off! *hiccup*" This sounds like a rip-off of the Duelist Kingdom arc from that one show I watched, Quinn thought with a sweat drop. But never mind that. It's started. Despite himself, his legs started shaking. He had come far from the cowardly boy who couldn't even bring himself to battle others. But still, every step he took toward the tournament officials was slow and ponderous, as if walking through peat. He was relieved that nobody had given him a second glance. After all, he wasn't here to draw attention. No, he just wanted...to prove himself a worthy trainer. That was all. He didn't even need to make it past the first round. As long as he knew himself that he had tried his best...right? Trying your best, that's what counted, right? His thoughts were soon interrupted. "Who wishes to be the first to battle," a tall man in eye-searing yellow shouted, causing Quinn to jump. "E-eep!" the pinkette squeaked. "D-dangerous. Let's...um...move on," he mumbled to himself, skulking around the man with all care. His eyes were momentarily blinded by a flash of light nearby. "It's been a while since i've fought a clown...and today isn't going to be the day i start that funny business again," a younger man with shaggy purple hair and glasses (the source of the glare) spoke. "By the way pal...we haven't even received our cases yet...so you might want to get one before you lose all of your chips immediately!" Recognizing danger, Quinn backed away from him too, hunching his shoulders in an attempt to make himself look smaller. Unfortunately, his pink hair was quite attention-grabbing, but anybody who looked his way looked away just as quickly, faces twisted in expressions of disgust. Indeed, he didn't look like he belonged here one bit. Taking the badge case from the official with a nervous smile, and ignoring the look the man sent him, the pink-haired boy moved to the edge of the crowd. "L-let's try and look for somebody nice, shall we?" he muttered to himself. "Oi, you!" a voice shouted. Ah, wonder who she's talking to, Quinn thought serenely, admiring the Staryu chips in his hand. Well, it's got nothing to do with me. "Hey, loser with the pink hair!" Wait, does she mean...me? The boy looked up, eyes wide. "Eh? Me?" "Yes, you! I'm challenging you to a battle! Or do you not even know how that works?" the speaker was a young girl with layered orange hair and a white-and-blue schoolgirl outfit. Quinn gulped. She was scary. He didn't want to battle someone like her. "Um...why me? I mean...there are a lot of other people here you can battle, right?" He started backing away from her subtly. He'd make a break for it at the first opening. The girl snorted. "Yeah, but nobody else looks as huge a wimp as you do. This'll be easy," she bared her teeth in a feral grin. "You can't get out of this. Let's battle." Ignoring his yelps and cries of "Save me!" the girl dragged Quinn off to the nearest battling arena.Matilda watched her brother (technically cousin, but she saw them as more of a sibling than anything else) get dragged off with a sweat drop. That girl is in for a nasty surprise, she thought, shaking her head. "Help! Anyone!" Though he could stand to get a bit more spine in this form, the black-haired woman sighed. Then again, the other form is too brave. Really, there needs to be a happy medium. The hunter stood her ground coolly, surveying the crowd of people for potential Guardians. In all actuality, she didn't care one whit for this tournament idea, but by battling and earning Staryu Chips, she would be more likely to come across the ever-elusive Guardians and their overpowered legendaries. Unlike her brother, however, nobody dared to approach her. Even with Doom recalled, she exuded an aura of danger that kept most of the lightweights at bay. "I'll just have to seek them out myself," Matilda shrugged. Ah, yes, there looked a likely candidate. A purple-haired man in a vest who looked far too confident in himself. Perhaps that confidence was founded...by a legendary? "Hello," she said, not wanting to mince words. "Battle?" "Why yes!" he beamed, roving his eyes over her partially-clothed body shamelessly. "It would be a pleasure, milady." Ah. One of those. "Good. Meet me at that arena," the twin tailed woman pointed out the destination, barely giving the man a second glance as she walked past him toward said location. I hope he has a legendary on him, she thought. Otherwise this will have been a waste of my time.
Ren✧
Ash had been one of the first people to exit the courtyard after Diana's speech. The hostess had appeared to be barely competent to dress herself in the morning, how she managed to pull off such large tournament, Ash would never know. That really wasn't something she wanted to concern herself with, however. Instead, she was more concerned with getting her Staryu Chips as quickly as possible. "Pick out someone for me to beat." She said to Carter, not wanting to make the decision herself. Carter, happy to do so, quickly scanned the group of people exiting the courtyard to find a prospective opponent for Ash. He finally settled on a man that was walking much more slowly than the rest, dressed in an ornate white top and black Capri pants. The man seemed to be completely unaware of what was happening around him, walking methodically with his eyes closed. "He looks like he'd be fun!" Carter said, pointing him out to Ash. "You always pick the weird ones." She said, playfully hitting his shoulder. Ash pushed her way through the throngs of people to get to the man. "Hey, listen do you want to battle me or what?" She inquired, her voice rising considerably. Despite this, the man gave no indication that he had taken any note of her aside from taking a step to the right and walking straight passed her, his eyes still firmly shut. "What the f***?" She whispered under her breath. She moved to grab the man's shoulder, refusing to be ignored. However, before she could lay a finger on the man, he quickly turned around, caught her wrist and his eyes snapped open. "Fifteen minutes. There is a battle field on the top of that building. I will meet you there." The man pointed to one of the taller buildings a couple of blocks away. He then let go of Ash's arm and walked away, his eyes once again closed. "Are you alright?" Carter asked, worried that the man may have hurt Ash. He inspected her wrist, but it didn't look like he had harmed it. "I'm fine." She said brusquely. "I'll be better when I clean the floor with that jackass." She said, glaring at the back of the retreating man. "Come on let's go to the building." "So who wants the pleasure of battling with me?" Crayton exclaimed after receiving his Staryu Chips. "How about you, sweetheart?" He asked, grabbing the arm of a decent looking woman that walked by. Immediately, he felt the red hot sting of the woman's palm against his face. "Fat chance, perv." She said as he noticed he was checking out her assets. Crayton was dumbfounded. He was almost never turned down and he definitely wasn't so whole heartedly rejected like this. "Funny you should say that," Crayton said his face contorting into a sneer. "you're probably about as big as that chance you're talking about." The woman's face went from indignant to furious. "Alright that's it. I'll clean the floor with you and school you on why you should never comment on someone else's body like that and why my body type isn't an insult." Immortal Chaos
Greed smirked to himself as he sat on a bench far from the courtyard. His fingers ran over the not one, but three metallic cases now in his possession. The tournament had just started and already he was ahead of most people battling now. He closed his eyes as he relaxed and waited, his mind wandering to the earlier events. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~About 1 hour ago~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Greed had been looking on as the hostess, a rather intoxicated woman, ran down the rules of the tournament. 10 Staryu chips is all he needed to advance to round two, and that would be no problem for him to do so. His confidence was almost borderline narcissism. As the speech ended he turned around and made his way towards the exit, stopping to get his metal case with his chips and.... to scope out two people. He didn't care which two, but made sure they were considerable distances from each other. Looking left, then right he began weaving through the crowd, noting where his two marks were headed. Reaching the first one, a man, about his height, wearing casual clothing was talking with someone and that was just the distraction he needed. Putting a little force behind it, he "bumped" into the man, causing him to stagger and blind his friend from Greed's rather nimble fingers as he made off with the man's chip case and tucked it into one of his many pockets. Years of practice, and the occasional broken bone for getting caught, had helped him in this case. "Oh! Oh I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you alright?" He had asked the man, who he actually helped up from his position on the ground. the man reluctantly took Greed's hand and dusted himself off. Greed apologized more, saying things along the line of "I'm such a clutz" and "I didn't hurt you did I?" The man had shrugged it off and seemed still in a good mood. Oh boy would he ever be surprised when he checked his pocket later. The second mark was a young lady making her way out of the area and off by herself. Easy pickings for him. He followed her, and soon was right behind her. With a tap on her shoulder he spoke. "Excuse me, I think you dropped something." She turned, and in an instant, greed kissed her and caught her off guard. She had slapped him as he calculated and when he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, she had kicked him, rather harn, between the legs and stormed off. He chuckled rather than cried, not saying the pain he felt wasn't excruciating, but he had achieved his goal. The initial kiss was to catch her off guard, and the pulling her close allowed him to search her pockets, which is where her case was. He had pulled the silver case from her back pocket as she had kicked him, and now it too was stuffed in one of his pockets. A few voices has rung in his ears as people who had seen him kiss the girl began gossiping and chuckling slightly. He didn't care, he got what he wanted. After a moment he got up and glared at the people staring at him, making them walk away. A smirk tugged at his lips as he walked off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Present Time - 12:00~~~~~~~~~~~~~ His eyes fluttered open as he awoke from his semi-dream. he stretched and sat up slowly from his reclined position. Only an hour had passed since the opening ceremony and already he was 6 Staryu chips into it. Not bad for the first day, hell even the first hour..... He thought to himself as he stood up and quickly ditched the two extra empty cases. He made it a few steps before a voice caught his attention. "Ey you, I challenge you!" He turned slowly and looked at the person who did so. He mocked a fake surprise and pointed to himself as if to say "Who me?" Mouthing the words. The man nodded as he pulled out a pokeball. Greed smiled and did the same. That didn't take long, numbers 7 and 8 will be mine sooner than I thought.......... He trailed off in his head as they arranged the stakes verbally and began their battle.
Admiral_Stalfos19
Although still uneasy about the mounds of sin that he sensed, Damian collected his Staryu Case, and then he sat back and waited. Some of the contestants had already gotten four to six Staryu Chips by the time an hour passed, but Damian remained still nonetheless... and his patience was rewarded when he witness the Mega Evolution of a Rhyperior in the midst of a battle. Once said battle was over, Damian approached the victor, a musclebound dark-skinned man with a bald head. "Excuse me, sir," Damian said in a very lady-like fashion, "Care for a battle?" "Huh, please, you only just got your Staryu Case by the looks of it!" the dark-skinned man scoffed, "Now tell me, lady; why would I waste my time with two Staryu Chips when I need another four before I'm done with this part of the tourney?" "You're right, two Staryu Chips wouldn't be worth it in your position, huh?" Damian asked rhetorically, but before the man could open his mouth... "But lemme brighten that up for you. Ya see this Masquerain, here? I'm willing to wager the Masquerainite it holds in addition to both my Staryu Chips." As the man was left to ponder such an offer, Show Stopper glared at her master for having practically going all-in on the first battle, wondering what in Yveltal's name he was thinking. Even if he lost though, Damian wasn't too concerned though; he'd just have to sucker punch the foolish man later without getting caught in the act; that was all. And if that was successful, Damian would have his Masquerainite back and a Rhyperiorite for Warchief and quadruple the number of Staryu Chips that he entered the tournament with. However, unaware of the fate he'd seal himself to if he won... "What the heck, two Staryu Chips and a Rhyperiorite it is... should you win," with that, the battle was on. "I dit say zat vee voult be late to zee ceremony, no?" said Prof. Guelder as she and Meloetta finally arrived at the Archanum Manor... at approximately 11:16am. Well and truly too late to participate in the Tournament of Legends, but Prof. Guelder was none too concerned about that; she had her reasons for not being involved with the tournament itself. Though having to remind people that she wasn't a contestant all the time was starting to get annoying. Meanwhile, Meloetta remained quiet, hiding behind Prof. Guelder and clutching her left leg. She was scared of those Legend Hunters; no doubt about it.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Kira supposed she should actually try to do something. The tournament had been going on for a while now but all Kira had done was find a really nice tree to sit against and watch the clouds. Cresselia and Princess both tried to spur the girl to action but she was lost in her own world.A world that was filled with happy thoughts, and a certain twintailed young lady. Naomi wondered what she would have thought about this. She certainly wouldn’t expect Naomi to have enough drive to even enter such a thing. Naomi laughed a bit, she was sure that one would be cheering her on and kicking her butt into gear.A shadow crossed her vision and she looked up, and up, and up. A very tall man with a leather jacket and strange spiky hair was gazing down at her with a grin. “Hey sweetcheeks, I see you’ve got some Staryu chips, why don’t you hand them over?”Naomi smiled brightly at the man. “Sure!” She said happily, which caused the man’s jaw to drop. “Oh, wait. No. That’s naright, I’m s’posed to be getting chips right? My bad.”“Listen up you brat, battle me now or I’ll just force them out of you.” The man’s threat was totally lost on Naomi, who simply got to her feet and gave him a thumbs up.“Lessgo!” She said, and the confused man got into place across from her. “Two chips then?” Naomi flashed the pair of chips, and the man grunted in acknowledgment.“This should be easy.” The man said, eying the Rhyhorn. “Go Clawitzer!” He shouted, sending out the blue shrimp Pokemon.“Oooh, okay, well in that case... Go Cr...”“Wait Guardian, not yet.” Naomi paused mid-Pokeball-throw. “It’s too soon for me, please reconsider.”“Um...kaaay, Breloom you’re up!” Naomi sent out the mushroom boxer, who was jumping from one foot to the other, obviously gearing up for a fight.“Wait you’re not using that Rhydon?” The thug said with a hint of concern in his voice.“Course not, I’m no dumby, dumby.” Naomi said playfully. “Now Mach Punch, go go!” Breloom shot forward with a lightning fast jab, hitting the Clawitzer and injuring it.“Fine, I can deal with that, Ice Beam!”As her opponent geared up to launch its attack, Naomi grinned. “You can take it Breloom, counter with Spore!” The Ice type attack hit the Grass Pokemon, doing massive damage but not quite finishing it off. It was able to get off its powder move, and the enemy was soon fast asleep.“Not fair!” the thug cried out. “Wake up Clawitzer, hurry!”“Leech Seed, then keep hitting it with Bullet Seed.” The Water type was peppered with the twin seed attack, and was able to wake up just in time for the last of its health to be drained.Naomi ran over to Breloom and gave it a high five. “Awesome work. Let’s go take a nap! Er, I mean, let’s find another one.” Breloom glanced over at the thug, then back at Naomi, then back at the thug. Naomi tilted her head in confusion before her mouth formed an “O” and she nodded. She returned Breloom to its ball and turned. “Two chips please!” She said to the man.“No way, you...you cheated! You had that Rhydon out and didn’t use it. You’re gonna pay for that!” He raised his fist, as Naomi just continued to gaze at him. She was able to watch his face shift from fury, to a pale fear, as Princess lumbered towards them, towering over Naomi and glaring at the thug.“U-uh that is...here take them!” he tossed the chips at Naomi’s feet and took off running.“What a funny guy.” Naomi said. “Come on Princess let’s go.”Nope, she was mistaken. Luna tossed the that she had taken from a man she had just bested in battle a dirty look. She had gone 6-0 on him and it was plain to see he had no legend. “Lying about owning a legend to get with a girl, pathetic.” She said, angry the man had wasted her time. “Whatever, get out of my sight.”As the man ran off, Luna looked around wistfully. There had to be a trainer somewhere here with a legend...She set her gaze on the next target. A black haired girl with a Masquerain. Obviously a woman of good taste, Luna thought as she patted her own Masquerain’s Pokeball. She'd have to test to see who had the best Masquerain sometime. The thrill of the contest to come got Luna excited and she decided to follow this one at a distance. No use wearing her Pokemon out in another battle if this wasn’t the real deal. The opponent she had chosen apparently had a Mega-Rhyperior, he would prove to be a difficult foe. If this girl had a legend, there was a slim chance she’d have to reveal it here.
Ren✧
When Ash and Carter arrived on the top of the building, the strange man from before was already waiting there. He stood with his back to them, appearing to look at the bustling sight of Archanum City below them. "Alright enough stalling, it's time to battle." The man turned around, revealing that his eyes had not been busy surveying the city below him, but had been firmly shut just as they had been before. "Arceus above, he's a weird one." Ash muttered so that only Carter could hear her. "I don't know, he doesn't seem that bad..." Carter, after all, wasn't really one to judge. "There is much conflict inside of you." The man said ominously, pointing at Ash even though he had not opened his eyes. "What are you, some kind of psychic?" Ash snorted. "Indeed." He said, now eyes locked with Ash's. "Whatever, can we just start?" Ash said, taking her spot on one side of the battle field that had been drawn on the building's roof. "We already have..." Despite the continuing mystery, the self-proclaimed psychic took his position as well, pulling a Pokeball out of his sleeve. "Three on three. Two Staryu Chips." "Whatever you say. Cinder let's go!" Ash said, figuring that sticking with her staple Pokemon was her best bet at this point. Her opponent threw his Pokeball, revealing a docile looking Slowbro. Immediately Ash was put on edge. Obviously the Slowbro's water typing would put Cinder at a disadvantage, but it was something else that was making her uneasy. She just couldn't put her finger on it. "You've got this, babe!" Carter cheered from the sidelines, having taken a seat to watch. Beside him sat his three Pokemon, each holding a different sign cheering for Ash. She gave him a small smile in return. "Scald." And just like that, the battle had begun. Slowbro's name was a bit of a misnomer, it appeared, as Cinder barely had enough time to dodge the jet of steaming water. "Let's cool this hotshot off with a Noble Roar." Ash instructed. "Let's go in with Crunch after that." This tactic was very familiar for the two. They would start with Noble Roar, diminishing the damage Cinder would take if turn around were to occur when Cinder went in close to deliver the Crunch. And it appeared as if the maneuver were going to go off without a hitch. The Noble Roar reduced Slowbro's attacking power and Cinder's jaw closed strongly around the pink Pokemon. However, it, nor its trainer, reacted. They looked as calm as ever. "Thunder Wave." Ash knew in that moment that they were funked. Cinder was too close to dodge the attack. There was no hope in taking evasive action. The electric wave washed over the lion-esque Pokemon, causing it to let the Slowbro go as it recoiled. Electricity crackled through its fur, making it more than evident that Cinder had sustained paralysis. "Surf." A tidal surge erupted from beneath the Slowbro, careening towards the vulnerable fire type. "Noble Roar!" While the attack had no real offensive capabilities, Ash figured that if Cinder could get loud enough it might not just lower the attacking stats of her opponent but disrupt the surge of rushing water. However creative the idea, it was a futile effort. The paralysis took its toll, freezing Cinder in her place. The wave hit its mark, dealing massive damage. "Dammit!" Ash exclaimed as the water disappeared and revealed that Cinder was down and out for good. She hadn't expected this guy to be this good. Already he had dispatched her most trusted Pokemon. This was gonna be more difficult than she anticipated.
