Requirement

because I think this Deck of my Devpro's AI is interesting (even it didn't run the field and plays so suck), let's make Heraldic Beast support
0QiRobL.jpg

When this card attacks, it gains 400 ATK and is unaffected by other card effects until the end of the Damage Step. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can banish 2 other "Heraldic Beast" monsters from your Graveyard, and if you do, add 1 "Heraldry" Spell/Trap Card from your Graveyard to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Heraldic Beast Tiger" once per turn.

3 Level 4 Monsters

You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Heraldic" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, other than "Heraldic Destroyer Dark-Matter". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) While this card has 3 Xyz Materials, it cannot be targeted by Monster Effects. This card gains 400 ATK for each Xyz Material attached to this card. You can detach 3 Xyz Material from this card: Destroy every other face-up monster on the field. You can target 1 Level 4 or lower "Heraldic Beast" monster in your Graveyard; attach it to this card as Xyz Material. (max. 3)  You can only use 1 "Heraldic Destroyer Dark-Matter" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
Woah woah woah. Having mained Heraldic Beasts for a long time, I can already tell you card B is bad news. Xyz Change N18, the deck's best play, into this and you get a powerhouse, a consistent way to enable it without fearing SHARK or literally anything, and a way to actually enable itself which is the only thing that stopped it from being incredibly borked. Oh and that way is a field nuke. Oh and it is immune to monster effects. Oh and couple with the field spell that makes it immune to targeting S/Ts... GG.

Comparatively Tiger feels literally like a poor estranged distant cousin. At the speed and tempo Heraldics run at, it'd probably find no place in the deck, as its way too slow to serve any real purpose, and Banishes way too much for the deck's tastes. The 1900 AG attacker is cute, but when you can literally vomit 3+ Xyz per turn at minimal card loss... that doesn't amount to anything really.

...so basically I'm looking at insanely broken versus completely underwhelming.

Creativity-wise, Card B does better in terms of name and image. But in the most critical part, the effect, it feels like it's just a haphazard slapping-on of powerful effects (which resulted to it being broken in the first place). Card A at least tries to give an additional layer of something to the deck, even if it ended up too weak for it. So I'll give my vote to Card A.

EDIT: Wtf just noticed Card B attaches stuff from grave too... omfg

Yeah, Card B is just wrong on so many levels. The flavor doesn't fit in regards to the rest of the archetype, neither in regards to image nor name, the card relies on the rest of the archetype while being an overpowering presence that barely interacts with the rest of the archetype. Then comes the fact that this allows Unicorn to throw a nuke onto the field freely. Also, that last effect, no.

Tiger at least interacts,  and can do some decent stuff like grabbing back your AHAs.

Vote for Card A.

Eh. Better luck next time.

Although, for a moment, I'd like to argue your reasoning for calling it broken.

The only reason I'd worry about it enabling the two other Xyz in the archetype is due to N18 getting to dump 2 Heraldic Beasts when detached. That was a bit of an oversight on my part, but otherwise, takes away from the lingering effect of N18- something I'd say adds more options rather than creates problems.

I'm not sure how exactly you feel it "enables itself," seeing as you can't summon one over another. It's ATK maxes out at 2700 and it only gets its protection as long as it doesn't use its effect. And if it uses its effect, it can't start recharging until the next turn without interacting with the rest of its archetype.

Flavor, maybe. Flavor has always been a debatable thing. I'm not sure how it can "rely on the archetype" without "interacting with the archetype," but whatever you say. By "Unicorn throwing a nuke so easily" I assume you mean either summoning Dark-Matter, and negating its effect or summoning another Xyz, summoning this over and having to wait a turn or three before it can actually do something (unless you have birdy and it has to interact with its archetype.

I'll continue to argue for the last effect because of how long it takes to recharge. I'd compare it to a hyper beam. You get a powerful effect, but you leave yourself wide open and it takes 3 turns to get back to where you were without using the rest of the archetype.

but Card B is too broken as an instantly 3100 beater with a potential Dark Hole.

It can't get over 2700 ATK because of its restrictions.

Anyway, that'll be all from me. Good game, Aqua.
