心霊龍 (Shinreiryū - Psychic Dragon)

 

As I've mentioned in the opening card to this series, which can be found here, this is the Archetype that's meant to support it and do much more with it. Contrary to their naming, they have no relationship to Psychic-Type monsters (though if you read the notes in the linked thread, you can probably guess where the name came from)

 

Anyway, the focus of this Archetype is on Synchro/Xyz Summoning by Special Summoning monsters to fuel for their Extra Deck monsters (and being able to manipulate Levels to some degrees), however they have varying effects (most of them relate to destroying stuff and then doing something else if that happens). They do have some degree of support cards, though they are still being designed.

This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a Dragon-Type monster. Once per turn, you can target a "Psychic Dragon" monster you control: Activate 1 of the following effects:  • Increase its Level by 1. • Decrease its Level by 1.

An opponent's monster that battles a "Psychic Dragon" monster you control cannot declare an attack during their next turn. During the Damage Step, if this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: It can make a second attack in a row.

An opponent's monster that battles a "Psychic Dragon" monster you control is banished until their next Standby Phase after the attack. When this attacking card destroys a monster: Target 1 card in your opponent's hand of Graveyard; banish that target.

You can only activate the effect of "Psychic Dragon Hero Rinen" once per turn.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned by tributing 2 "Psychic Dragon" monsters you control. When this card is Special Summoned: Target 1 Level 4 or lower "Psychic Dragon" monster in your Graveyard; attach that target to this card as an Equip Card. This card gains the equipped monster's effects. If this card would be destroyed: You can destroy the equipped monster instead. During your next Main Phase after you activate this effect: Target a Level 4 or lower "Psychic Dragon" monster you control; attach it to this card as an Equip Card.

Spirit Jewel of the Psychic Dragon

Equip only to a "Psychic Dragon" monster: It gains 700 ATK and DEF. When the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: Gain Life Points equal to half of the destroyed monster's ATK; then draw 1 card. If the equipped monster would be destroyed: You can destroy this card instead. You can only control 1 "Spirit Jewel of the Psychic Dragon".

Before anyone points this out, some of the monster cards do use the Japanese names of certain anime characters. Like in the thread for Scarlet Shocker, not meant to reference said characters in any way.

 

With that said and done, please rate/CnC/fix OCG/love/hate, etc.

nice cards set, hope u can find some appropriate pics soon  :) alright here's some CnC

 

- Takeshi seems a bit powerful wall since a 2200 Def with once-per-turn protection is many hard to take down by some deck, well, im thinking it should be about 1700-1900 or if u intentionally need a high DEF wall so i suggest this "If you control no other "Psychic Dragon" monsters; this card lose (300-500) DEF" so this card can only maximize it potential in this deck,

 

- Arashi's optional level change looks very flexible in any Synchro Deck, well, again i suggest it should be only useable for this archetype only, i.e. u can add this "This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Psychic Dragon" (or at least Dragon-Type) Synchro Monster"

 

well they're only suggestions so u can just ignore them if u think ur eff r nice and balance enough :lol:

I can lower Takeshi's DEF down to 2000 and just take off the once-per-turn battle immunity. That'll make it a Golem Dragon for PD's.

 

As for Arashi, it also works for Xyz monsters (remember Scarlet Shocker?), but I can keep its usage in summoning Extra Deck stuff to Dragons; that way, you can still use it in normal Decks.

 

As for the rest of the Extra Deck monsters, there's going to be a Level 7, 8 and 10 one; in addition to two more Xyz. I actually do have pics for the Level 7/8 ones but they fall on the same track as 110 does; though you should ignore the pics (and possibly the name) and judge the stats.

 

Although I should've noticed it earlier, Satoshi/Takeshi will form a battle lock since both have the same effect (can't attack other Psychic Dragons besides them). So, I'll edit Satoshi to deal with destruction via effects.

11/23/2013 - Added the following: Psychic Dragon Soldier sub-Archetype, a new Level 2 Tuner that helps search when destroyed (supposed to be a RoTA for them), a Field Spell that helps facilitate Special Summoning required monsters, new Level 8 Effect monster and the Level 10 Synchro (which is supposedly the "god" of this whole thing). Hopefully I put enough restrictions on the Level 10 so it doesn't come off as broken; though if you think I need to tone down its effects some more, please comment.

 

11/24/2013 - Added Hakuryu (in link form since it has a pic) and another sub-Archetype of Psychic Dragon: Hero. Like the soldiers, there's only 3 of them and all are Level 4 (they'll fill in the Attributes that the Soldiers didn't take). Only Shinri and Rinen are made right now [if you want to know what their names mean, I put the translation next to the names].

 

11/25/2013: Added C110, Mangetsu and a new Spell. Mangetsu deals with Battle Damage and a way to help deal reasonable amounts of damage, a point that Venoshock Voltex mentioned inside Hakuryu's thread (thank you). The rest of them should be explanatory; C110 gives blanket protection to other monsters from damaging effects, can halve 2 monsters at once and like its pre-evolved form, Special Summons a dragon from the Graveyard. In a way, they combo with Hakuryu to some degree (C110 can also combo with 103, now that it got its effect confirmed)

 

11/27/2013: Added Wuji and two Spells. First spell is basically a pump-up spell that regenerates LP and can give one-time protection to the monster it's equipped to. Second one is a Psychic Dragon-specific of Tannhauser Gate.

I took a look at the Level 10 Synchro and I do think it does too much: The healing effect is more of an overkill when the card does more than enough with the first 2 effects. And 500 LP for each card is a lot: Just by having 4 cards on the field you would be gaining 2000 LP, 1/4 of your total starting LP, and the cards don't even have to be face-up so you could just Set any Spell card you have in hand for gaining additional LP.

I would remove the last effect, because gaining LP while threatening your opponent with a 4000-ATK monster that will be causing him/her burn damage even if he puts his/her monsters in DEF Position is unfair.

Yeah, the LP boost is too much; especially with the 4000 ATK backing it up to destroy something and burning. So that has been removed.

Emperor can deal with the LP recovery.

 

 

That aside, thanks for commenting.

 

Hopefully I find some pics for these cards so it can be moved into the normal Multiple section; otherwise might have to draw them myself.
