2 Level 1 monsters

While this card has Xyz Material, any battle damage inflicted to a player is treated as effect damage. When a player takes effect damage: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; gain Life Points equal to the damage you took. Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed.

Can only be Special Summoned (from your hand) by tributing 1 monster while you have 4000 Life Points or less. Once per turn, if your opponent would deal damage to your Life Points by a card effect or a direct attack: You can decrease this card's DEF by that amount; all damage that would be dealt by that card is reduced to 0. If it was a Spell or Trap card: Destroy it. When this card's DEF is reduced to 0: Destroy it; increase your Life Points by 1500.
Card A: Rank 1 Fairy that can treat Battle Damage as effect damage (for both players, provided it holds material); which then builds off of its 2nd effect (Detach and gain same amount of LP), with destruction effect (can't be killed by battle/effects once a turn).

Hmm, last time I saw a card that treated Battle Damage as effect was Gravekeeper's Vassal (and currently the only other card that does that); interesting. Second effect can build off burn cards like Ceasefire, Meteor of Destruction, DSF, Lightning Warrior...etc (though it's worded a bit weird; activates when a player takes damage; which might imply that either the opponent or yourself can take damage to activate it, but only this card's controller will heal LP)

---

Card B: Level 7 Nomi monster that's SS only by having half of your starting LP (assuming that you are playing the standard 8000) and sacrificing monster w/Black Winged Dragon's anime effect (decrease this card's DEF by amount of damage taken); destroying a S/T if that was the case and granting you 1500 LP when it blows up with 0 DEF.

As mentioned in the summary of Card B, it's helpful in a pinch; though it is still weak to removal by S/T cards (and uses Black Winged Dragon's effect from anime to reduce damage). 3000 DEF is good, but with its decrease DEF from effect; most likely the LP gain will not occur [since opponent will have a moderately strong card to kill it in battle]

Viability: Card A (even though there's one small note on its 2nd effect); card B relying on you to have half your LP is a bit situational IMO

Balance: Card B (just absorbs damage from effects/direct damage, blows itself up when hits 0 and gives some LP back); card A can hypothetically stay in attack mode, absorb a strong ATK (Detach a Xyz Material) and gain a possible 2-3k(+) LP. (The life gain is optional though and is limited to two shots)

In these two sections, it's a tie for both; however I can only vote once; so card A for better usability/creativity. (Both cards were equally good though, just those two factors separated who got the vote this time; best of luck to both members)

Card A is plagued by the bad wording, which makes it only work when you take effect damage, and you'll only negate the damage that way(no LP gained and such). Though it makes several effect damage reliant cards viable, it doesn't really warrant any usage in a non dedicated deck over your usual rank 1 options. Still a neat card though outside of dedicated decks. Card B seems to be something designed to counter burn decks. But you have one problem. You need to draw into it before you got blasted, you need to have that LP requirement and the fodder monster to summon it, but it's great when it goes off. Well, both cards are not stellar in my opinion, but Card A wins because it doesn't rely on specific match-up to do something, and it does it job quite well.

Card A is overwhelmed; when you take effect damage you'll only negate the damage. A neat card, though I find that outside of devoted sets it feeble. Card B calculated to counter burn decks. But you have one LP requirement and monster to summon it, but it's a grand when it goes sour. Card A wins.
