Magician's Advent...! (Full Set) (20/30+)

Recommended Posts

Here it is, the long anticipated Magician's Advent set that I have been giving previews of for the last week. (By long anticipated I mean one of you wanted to see it while the rest of you didn't give a sh*t) Right now, I've only completed the Monsters and 5 Of their Spells, since finding good pictures for their S/T is ridiculously hard to do. However, let me give you a hint of what the Spells and Traps are: There are 14 of them, 10 Spells and 4 Traps. 6 Of the Spells have a unique effect upon being banished from the Graveyard, while the others help you recycle Spells and send Spells directly from the deck. The Traps activate by Banishing Spells and Traps from your Graveyard for a variety of effects, ranging from Special Summoning to Negating and returning to deck cards. And now, I realize that you don't care about what I wrote here so here's the cards instead. (Note: I didn't forgot to Copy and Paste the effects to some of the cards, I'm just too damn lazy to do that)

*ahem*

The Spirit Realm was a normally peaceful and calm place, it's inhabitants can live freely without worry and their peace would never be broken by outsiders. That is, until all hell breaks loose and the dark beings known as "Dark Worlds" appeared out of nowhere and ravaged the entire Spirit Realm, turning it into a wasteland of despair and chaos. However, the Dark Worlds' reign is short-lived, as a group of Angels claiming to be emissaries from other worlds descended from Heaven and restored the Spirit Realm back to what it once was, a miniature Heaven on a dimension where humans could not enter. The presence of these Angels managed to bolster the inhabitant's spirit, turning the peace-loving into an unstoppable behemoth of war, allowing them to fight back the Dark Worlds. After a long and dreadful war, the Dark Worlds was able to be pushed back to where they came from, the deepest reaches of hell where nothing but their kind can thrive. The war won, the Angels returned to Heaven and left the Spirit Realm to tend for themselves. But their thirst for power caused by the Dark Worlds influence eventually took over their rationing and they began a civil war to determine who was worthy to sit on the Spirit Realm's throne and command all the beings there. Soon enough, the Spirit Realm was divided into 6 Regions, each commanded by their own leader. The East Region is commanded by a Samurai wearing an Armor of Red and is inhabited by Ninjas and Samurais. The West Region is commanded by a large dragon with scales of metal and eyes of pure red ruby. It is inhabited by Dragons and several Warriors and Sorcerers with an odd affinity for Light and Dark magic. The North Region is notoriously known for being near impenetrable, thanks to it's leader, a Dragon with pure-white scales that can repel any dark thoughts. An oddity about the inhabitants of the North Region is their weird religion. They worship a Rabbit wearing a construction worker's hat, believing it to be the emissary of God. The South Region is the smallest region of all, only inhabited by less than 100 Sorcerers who take part in a dark ritual to summon a supposedly unstoppable force that was sealed a long time ago because of how dangerous it is. The South Region was involved in the least amount of battles, but they never lose, not even once. Reports say that an Orange-brown Monster standing above 200ft accompanies the South Region's forces every time they battle and that the Monster cannot be destroyed, no matter what weapon is used and how many attacks it. The Middle Region is the most mysterious. They were not involved in any of the battles, they worked in secret, sending in their troops as reinforcement when the West Region goes to war. Reports say that it is ruled by Dragon-like figure of yellow scale that shines as bright as the sun itself and that their inhabitants are that of Dragons who worship the sun. The Southeastern Region has only newly risen, it was formed by a bunch of Sorcerers who are unhappy by the war. Among their ranks is an elderly witch who has lived for over a millennia, with the title of "Divine Witch". She took part in the war between the Angels and the Dark Worlds and she was one of the first who mastered the arts of magic and spread it to the world. However, she turned down the offer of being the Supreme Commander of the Southeastern Region forces in favor of teaching her 5 favorite students. Eventually, she grew tired of the constant battling and decided to leave the peace inside the Southeastern Region, opting to travel the Spirit Realm with her 5 Students instead. After many years, her student was ready to take her place as Divine Witch, all she needed left was to transfer all of her power to her wisest apprentice. But, an incident occurred that caused her to distrust her 5 Students. Following this incident, the 6 disbanded and they lived on their own for several years, until the Divine Witch called them back on her deathbed. Seeing as how her students has yet to be wise enough to inherit her full power despite the years after their disband, the Divine Witch was greatly disappointed. In the end, she gave each of her student a fragment of her power and gave her favorite apprentice Marluxia a Spell containing a seal with her name (Ristoria) written on it. Should Marluxia use the Spell, then the seal will be broken, calling Ristoria back to the Spirit Realm from the Netherworld. Following her death, the 5 Students built a small village located in the outskirts of the Southeastern Region which served as a place for training young and aspiring Witches. 10 Years later, the small village grew to a powerful force with enough firepower to take on any of the 6 Regions in war without assistance. Determined to bring back peace to the Spirit Realm, the witch village left the safety of their home and advent towards the battlefield...

That's it for now. I'm not gonna explain what each card does, use your brain and figure out the best build for this set on your own. -w-
So as usual, rate, fix if any of these girls are broken and CnC is always welcome.

At least someone cares about your cards Toyo.

Reviewing times. As per normal, I'm not doing cards I've already done. My thoughts are already stated on them. :

Divine witch: 3 is a very popular Number with you. Now the archtype has decent recycling support, the effects are now far easier to understand why they;ve been used. The 400 attack per banished spell is fine, due to the fact A its a watered down Gren maju de Elza, and B its effect cuts over 1000 from its attack. And since you are comepletly vunerable to effect vieler, its an easy kill. The thing i don't agree with, is the free banish and destroy. Since, they then immediately fuel your other cards. The other three effects, not to bad. I can see its basically meant to be a toolbox in one.

Changes to it: I would say remove the banish and destroy efffect... i don't really think it needs them. Or maybe add discard a monster of something like that, as an additional cost specifc to those two effects. Because, a essentially free banish is insane.

The grimores Coughspellbookscough. firstly i love the seemingly odd pay 500 life points effect, I would do it just for a laugh really. Estura is a specific D.D. Capsule, who's most immedate effect is banish a grimmore with Divine Witch to put it in the grave for immediate useage. Which is the intention. Its fine. Ashtria, again is fine. Altough... repeated search abuse is quite possible... Hmm. Not sure on that one. Marluxia is a decent shock for your opponent, and helps you run over otherwise to big monsters, giving you a bit of beatstick potential.

I know i haven't done all of them yet... but I am going to spread it out so you don't get completely bored of lack of feedback. Hope i've been helpful.

Toyo.. sorry for not doing the rest of them yet. Other things took priority. I'll review the new Grimore though.

The new grimore: One draw each time its banished seems insane. Given that you can recycle to gain huge card advantage as it stands already, this is the cheery on top. Discard a card to draw a card makes it more manageable, and keeps it from somehow getting exodia splashed.

Boo. Time for the next few cards to review. Becuase i have nothing better to do currently, and I promised I would. And I try to be a man of my word.

Lilianne: WOW. So, this is a huge control Archtype? I feel sorry for the poor fool who uses Dark hole on this... Though against magicals the effect is luaghable at best. Your just thinning there deck for them. Well done for keeping the attack low to balance that out. I think its fine.

Piscecea is intresting... A minor boost that can make all the difference. You've managed to make everything fit together and synergise. Im just worried if they do it to well.

Mech Which: Very fine since its once per duel.

Archer: Is fine, becuase it doesn't stop them from chaining. As it stands, you have to get lucky on something that isn't chain able. That may break monsters though, becuase dont they have to get flipped when attacked? have it so it can't get flipped summoned, and its effects may not be activated if this is the case. Also, have it so it can't attack in the same turn. She's already fired her bow after all :P no, seriously for balances sake this time.

And with that, I leave it for today... After all, i need to make these reviews stretch so you don't get bored.

Hope its helpful.

Surely it should be creator Toyo?

And time for more Reviewings:

Girhilde: Once per turn on the effect maybe? Aince, well as it stands it isn't to hard to get that many spells to thin the deck of all spells highly quickly.

Pachuris: O.o I'd like to say that the second part of the effect is broken... but I can't really. Since... Its kind of nessacary for the deck to work, and I dont think you can pull out a rank 4 very quickly... Other than with rabbit. becuase Gemini elf exists. So, make it specifically witch monsters and im happier. inb4 bloody rabbit. I hate you lots and lots and lots.

Initiate: Intended to be Synchro material isn't she? Which is interesting... and her cost isn't to bad. I think she is ok, as it stands. Theres a part of me that thinks she should change... part of me that doesn't... so I say keep it as such. UNless i think of a fault beyond how it currently be.

The Rabbit is a god.... O.o

It was quite fun to read actually, and not completely terrible. So be happy on that fact.

I may as well review one card whilst I'm here, so I shall. My gift as it were.

Eternia.... Hmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Hm. Its intresting, a 2100 beater that could be splashed in some decks to make easy rank 5 or 6 Xyz, or even synchros... which Im going to guess is its aim? What would I change???... Not a thing actually. It looks quite good. Though that may be lack of sleep talking, so be wary of an edit addressing some issue i have thought off.

Glad someone actually liked the story. =D

Also, want to hazard a guess at what the 6 Nations are in the story? (Hint: They are all tier 1/2 decks.)

You got the other 4 right, but the Gishki one was actually Hieratic. Guess I haven't been descriptive enough. And the one you didn't know was Spellbook/Prophecy.

Fixed Viridianna. As for Gerhilde, her cost is pretty though early game and Witch Familiar cards are usually better off in your Deck so it can be sent to the Graveyard using Ferlucia. Although the reason you say she is OP is because of the numerous Pluses to your hand with it, correct? To stop it from being a constant discard fodder, I added a once per turn effect.

Oh, really nice cards.
Loved most of the pics and the eff / stats seem balanced aswell.
9/10
-1 due to the fact that lots of the pics i have already saw on many cards. =)

Well, Safebooru is a complete f*ckwad when it comes to Spellcaster-esque pictures, so naturally I have to retort to Jazinkay's wonderful archive.

Anyway, can I get another user's opinion on this? It's been 5 days and only Hivenet seems to be giving CnC. Not that I don't appreciate it or anything, but another voice would be really great.

Bump, BTW.

Looks like I'mm the only person who likes reviewing your set.... Speaking of which:

Dragon Witch: Hmm, the level 5 effect isn't to bad since now Xyz exist. The tribute to mill 4 spells... its intresting, and very helpful. I can't help feeling having a lower attack would be fairer. 1900, whilst not as powerful as it used to be, is still fairly decent, and I think it could do with being lower, maybe 1700? Since the only other card I can think of with a Similar effect is Steelswarm roach, which is a rank 4 with 1900 attack. Which is really low. So, this could do with being low as well.

And thats me for now. I may do it later when I'm starving and keeping my mind off food. Bloody blood test.

Well, that means you concluded your review on my set. As for nudging the 1900 ATK, It's just to give her a bit of staying power to negate summons. Plus, Roach has 1900 because it's cost is simple. (Detaching 1 is much easier than Banishing 3 Spells, don't ya think?)

Oh, Ferlucia is also intended to be the main card (E.G; Something to kick start combos) for the Witch archetype. Sort of like Stratos and HEROes. Any chance you want to review this set as a whole? Not individually reviewing the cards, but the Witch archetype itself.

Actually, I have one more. Strike witch:

Add a once per turn clause and I do believe its fine. Whilst not a versitle as something like Summoner Monk, its still a special summon, and should probably be a bit limtedon how often then.

As for the archtype as a whole.... I will do that. I just require a bit of time to acurately collect my thoughts together.
