Yu-Gi-Oh! Booster Pack discussion thread.

Recommended Posts

Since Starstrike Blast had no blast except NEXUS, thread hijack:

Discuss on the Booster Pack PTDN that signalled the start of the second major explosion in the world of Yu-Gi-OH.

One of the best boosters ever, in my opinion.

-Dark Armed Dragon

-Allure of Darkness

-Yubel

-Dark Grepher

-Cyber Valley

-Gladiator Proving Ground

-endless DARK support cards

in general, boosters packs lately have alot fewer decent cards......

ages ago, you could make a semi-decent (yet still bad) deck from a single booster (provided you had bought s***loads of it)

the newer boosters often contain much more useless stuff that either supports a terrible theme or is just terrible....

Blame the anime for useless plot devices and Konami's running out of ideas

This is where our topic begins. I think this is due to konami's DECK'IN'A'CAN themes such as GB, LS, BW and so forth. They've figured out what are staple cards in the game. They tested their idea with Heroes then they fixed it and moved on to GB.

Now their new archetypes come with pre built infinite loops like infernity or scraps or X Sabers - each theme has it's own heavy storm, brain control, divine wrath and so on. Konami decides how competitive the theme will be and releases appropriate support such as with Fortune Ladies or Evil Heroes.

After their substandard theme are released to propogate as prey for the better decks they've completed their task - they've created a complete ecosystem with it's own food chain of skill.

The really pointless cards lately kind of boggle my mind too - Dark Trap Hole would have been good a year ago before nationals. I mean you look at Rescue Warrior and you just scratch your head. I swear sometimes I think the R&D is done by an 11 year old.

Konami tries to surge the power creep to a very high level and then they attempt to regulate it downwards to prevent a crash. Choas ruled supreme and then it was smashed into oblivion as the bland era of GX just about ended yugioh with head scratching releases like rise of destiny. Then came phantom darkness - they decided dark was the way to go and then to make a yin/yang feel they pumped up light with light of destruction. We're still caught in the power creep of those releases to this day.

It seems due to profits they climbed in bed with the power they were supposed to be regulating - I feel DAD should have been banned long ago but somehow he dodges it every format - JD is at 2 - Honest is at 2. - Dark Grepher isn't even on the list - Armageddon Knight's not even a thought and people think I'm crazy for even typing this right now.

You can't chase the cats away with dogs and then with tigers and then with lions and then with elephants - at some point we have to go back to mice again. From what I'm seeing of Excess summoning the plan is to continue the power creep.

Duelist Revolution will probably be the greatest money maker konami has ever released due to pot of duality and solemn warning
