Occult Science Returns

Max Darkness

Recommended Posts

In what has turned out to be a continued re-working of my older sets and cards, this was the next to fall under the light. Since these reworks seem to take the form of game mechanics bending, the "Occult Science" monsters have gone from what they were (one of the first Accel Synchro based archetypes on here) to a new(er) form of Synchro Summoning.

Rate and enjoy.

Effect: Once per duel, if you control a face-up "Occult Science" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your Removed from Play Zone. If this card is used for a Synchro Summon, you can treat this card as a non-Tuner monster and the Synchro Monster you wish to Summon must be in the Graveyard.

Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned, you can add 1 Level 4 or lower DARK Machine-Type monster to your hand from your Deck. Once per turm, you can remove 2 DARK Machine-Type monsters in your Graveyard from play to send 1 Synchro Monster in your Extra Deck to the Graveyard. If this card is used for a Synchro Summon, the Synchro Monster you wish to Summon must be in the Graveyard.

Effect: This card inflicts Piercing Damage and any Piercing Damage this card's controller takes from battles involving this card is reduced to 0. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can remove 1 DARK Machine-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to send 1 Level 5 or lower monster in your Extra Deck to the Graveyard.

Effect: 1 "Occult Science" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner DARK monsters
This card can only be Synchro Summoned from the Graveyard. This card inflicts Piercing Damage. If this card battles, you can remove from 1 DARK Machine-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to have this card gain 800 ATK, until the end of the Battle Phase. Once per turn, you can send 1 monster in your Extra Deck to the Graveyard.

Effect: 1 "Occult Science" Tuner + 1 or more DARK non-Tuner monsters
This card can only be Synchro Summoned from the Graveyard. This card inflicts Piercing Damage. If this card battles, you can remove 1 DARK Machine-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to have this card gain 800 ATK, until the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is used for a Synchro Summon, the Synchro Monster you wish to Summon must be in the Graveyard. During your opponent's Main Phase, you can Synchro Summon using this face-up card you control as a Synchro Material Monster.

Creation of twisted knowledge, lead your armies into battle. Extinguish life as the machines' reaper! Death Synchro! Immortal slaughter, Occult Science Diabolus!

Effect: "Occult Science Attero" + "Occult Science Mortis"
This card can only be Synchro Summoned from the Graveyard. This card is unaffected by the effects of Effect Monsters during the turn it is Synchro Summoned. You can negate the activation of card effects your opponent controls that target "Occult" monsters you control. Monsters you control inflict Piercing Damage. During the End Step, if this card inflicted Battle Damage to your opponent, your opponent sends 1 monster from their Extra Deck to the Graveyard whose ATK is equal to or lower than the damage they took.

Well... all I can say is wow... really wow :3

I never EVER seen this way to Synchro Summon from the Graveyard... interesting concept. I definitely want to see more.

2 things: is "Piercing Damage" confirmed OCG?

And two, you got a tiny OCG error here in Attero's lore:

This card can only be Synchro Summoned from the Graveyard. This card inflicts Piercing Damage. If this card battles, you can remove from 1 DARK Machine-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to have this card gain 800 ATK, until the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is used for a Synchro Summon, the Synchro Monster you wish to Summon must be in the Graveyard. This word is not needed there

Otherwise, very good work :D They are nicely balanced... I wouldnt expect less from a member of your level xD. Keep going!

Pics: 10/10 (I like when ppl make their own pics)
Balance: 10/10
Creativity: 10/10!! lol
OCG: 9.5/10 (for that tiny error)

Final: 39.5/40

Thanks for the rate.

"Piercing Damage" was used on "Cyberdark Edge", and if I were to use the extended version, 'any Piercing Damage this card's controller takes...is reduced to 0' becomes incredibly long, making the effects annoyingly small-texted.

I'll change "Attero".

For the record, they're not actually my pics...

Yes! Some else that actually uses the term "piercing" in their card effects.

I really like these, the concept of Synchro Summoning from the Graveyard is something I've never seen before.

One question about Diabolus' effect:

"When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, your opponent sends 1 monster from their Extra Deck whose ATK is equal to or lower than the damage they took."

Where does the selected monster go? I'm assuming the Graveayrd, but it'd be nice if you could specify that.

Otherwise, awesome work!

I don't know why people don't use it more. It's so much simpler than its counterpart.

I noticed that mistake when I was manipulating its effect earlier. I'll repost it and "Attero". It is supposed to be the Graveyard.

Thanks.

I dunno how to rate this, because the entire idea of this archetype defies the game mechanic that "Nomi/Semi-Nomi monsters cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard unless they were properly Special Summoned first". Based on game rules, you could never properly Special Summon any of these Synchros o.x

Well, the rules do state that card effects over-rule written rules...

And my argument is that they are being Synchro Summoned from the Graveyard, not non-Synchro Special Summoned. Consider that all Synchro Monsters have the unwritten text; 'This card can only be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck.'. The idea of this archetype is to replace 'Extra Deck' with 'Graveyard'. So they are being Special Summoned properly, just from another location.

I think it makes sense...

Excellent. Just excellent. Adore the concept, lurve the harmonised, supportive effects and the OCG is almost (piercing damage!) flawless. I reckon a rep for you and a well-deserved high score! Plus, whoever did the pictures deserves a prize because they are quite awesome.
Score= 9.5/10 (oh noes- piercing damage!)
Very well done.

'Piercing Damage' was used once!

And 'This card inflicts Piercing Damage and any Piercing Damage this card's controller takes...is reduced to 0' is somewhat more compact than 'During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Damage to your opponent. Also, during battle between this Defense Position card and an attacking monster whose ATK is higher than the DEF of this card, reduce any damage this card's controller takes to 0.'
