Matt Bahamut vs Zextra - Finished

Recommended Posts

I know I said I'd take a break from 1on1's... but I want to maintain/improve my joint 3rd position on Smesh's leaderboard.

First Lv4 or higher member to post an interesting requirement will be accepted as my challenger.

We'll do the first to 3 votes wins as waiting for 5 is clearly impossible at the moment.

Rep for winer along with points dependant on margain of victory: 10pts for 3:2 win, 25pts for 3:1 win, 50pts for 3:0 win.

It's 1st against 3rd from the leaderboard, as Zextra has come up with fantastic requirement: Make a dual attribute card that utilizes the power of opposing forces (i.e. the sun and the moon).

Lore: 1 FIRE or WATER Tuner-monster + 1 FIRE or WATER non-Tuner monster

A Synchro Summon of this monster can only be conducted with 1 FIRE and 1 WATER monsters. By discarding 1 FIRE or 1 WATER monster from your hand, you can change this card's Attribute to FIRE or WATER respectively. This card gains the following effect depending on it's Attribute:

FIRE - This card is unaffected by Trap cards. When this card destroys a monster in battle, inflict Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.

WATER - This card is unaffected by Spell cards. When this card destroys a monster in battle, increase your Life Points by the DEF of the destroyed monster.

Lore:1 LIGHT Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner DARK monsters

This card's Attribute is also treated as DARK. When this card is successfully Synchro Summoned, you can reveal 2 LIGHT or DARK monsters to place aLIGHT or DARK monster from your Deck face-down in one of your unoccupied Spell and Trap Card Zones. When this card is selected as an attack target, you can flip over a LIGHT monster in your Spell and Trap Card Zone to Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position with its ATK halved and its effect negated. If you do, switch the attack target to the Special Summoned monster. When a LIGHT monster you control is destroyed by battle (except this card), you can Tribute it to Special Summon 3 "Yang Medic Tokens" (Fairy-Type/LIGHT/Level 3/ATK 1200/DEF 1200) in Defense Position. These tokens cannot attack. When a "Yang Medic Token" you control is destroyed by battle, you can Special Summon a Level 3 or lower LIGHT monster from your Graveyard with its effect negated.

When this card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can flip over a DARK monster in your Spell and Trap Card Zone to remove this card from play. If this card is removed from play by its own effect, you can Special Summon it during the End Phase with the following effect:

• This card's original ATK becomes 1800. This card cannot be destroyed in battle by a LIGHT monster. Once per turn, you can halve this card's ATK until the End Phase. If you do, this card can attack your opponent directly this turn. You can pay 1000 Life Points to negate the effect of a Trap Card that targets or destroys this card. During each of your End Phases, you can discard a DARK monster to Special Summon a "Yin Guard Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position. As long as you control a "Yin Guard Token", this card cannot be selected as an attack target.

Open to votes, please give reasons as always.

No counters, so you go straight for Tokens instead. I'm kidding, it's a very strong card. Nice job.

Well I will also say that's 1 of the best templates I've ever seen.

Votes on the fancy-smancy template don't count of course. :D

Contest is open, first to 3 wins, points prize decided by winning margain.

Best of luck.

Its so hard to think any other reason to vote for one person... Ill go with matt on this one... on the count that Zextra's is a tad(If that) Op.

Reasons why both where very good to Me :P -

-Great pics that fit the monster

-Epic effects that fit the requiment

Thats like almost all the reason that makes any card good, Right?

My vote is for Matt. Sorry Zextra.

Let's see here.

Matt's card is more simple (in a good way) and can be useful in the right situations, but has noticable OCG errors.

Zextra's card is more creative and original, but it's kinda Op'ed in my opinion. I also notice some slight OCG errors, but nothing too bad.

Anyways my vote goes to Zextra, for his card being more creative.

I'm not exactly a master of correcting OCG errors  but I'll see what I can do.

OCG fixes are in bold lettering.

1 FIRE or WATER Tuner-monster + 1 FIRE or WATER non-Tuner monster

A Synchro Summon of this monster can only be conducted with 1 FIRE and 1 WATER monsters. By discarding 1 FIRE or 1 WATER monster from your hand, you can change this card's Attribute to FIRE or WATER respectively. This card gains the following effect, based on the discarded monsters Attribute:

FIRE: This card is unaffected by the effects of Trap Cards. When this card destroys a monster by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.

WATER: This card is unaffected by the effects of Spell Cards. When this card destroys a monster by battle, increase your Life Points equal to the DEF of the destroyed monster.

That's all the OCG errors I can find. Not exactly sure if all of them are correct, but as far as I know, it is.

Hm... I can't say how many times I've seen a "Water and Fire" dragon already... *coughcoughwaterandfiredragoncough*

However, only Pokémon has produced something on the scale of Yin-Yang. It's much more creative, though I can see it getting nerfed a bit, or at least getting some well-needed effect changes.

Bottom line, my vote goes to Zextra. You always seem to make the best cards. "Shine on, you glorious b******."

Well, well... that's a lot to go through. I said it once, and I'd like to say it once more: You can have too many effects on a card. And yes, Zextra, that's clearly a little too much :P Some effects just aren't needed and fall completely out of context and flow of the card, which only makes that card's effect longer, but not better or more creative. BUT the effects that aren't unneeded (every effect that resolves around the monsters you set in your S/T Zone and the Tokens) are very creative, fitting, and overall a very good work. Also, your German sucks... I'd suggest you take "Mächtiger König", otherwise that could hurt my eyes, and you don't want that if I you want me to keep making, rating and voting for cards ;) Yep, I'm a grammar Nazi, and I'm pretty proud of it!

For Matt's card: It's certainly not bad, but falls a little short on creativity. The effect is pretty good, but there's nothing new and particularly interesting about it.

So yeah, vote goes to Zextra.
