TOO BAD, I'M DOING IT. The YCM Stock Exchange is based off of my knowledge of the stocks, which I'll let you know is not very extensive. Nonetheless, I'll try to make it as realistic as possible. On the other hand it will be quite different, with of course many differences between real life and interwebz.

The YCM Stock Exchange is based off of the activity of YCM itself. What I mean by that is, the stocks are each based on the individual forums i.e. Realistic Cards, Showcase, General. The value of each stock is based off of the number of posts in each forum during a 24-hr. period. For example, if Showcase has 4000 posts today, I'll check the number the next day. Say it goes up to 5000. Then I will base the Showcase stock value by the rise in post count which in this case is 1000. If I do this for say Showcase, General and News, and get values of 1000, 2000, and 100, then I'll find a dividend and divide into each value, arriving at the final point values.*Each forum's point dividend will be decided on a case-by-case basis, but will remain the same throughout. ((Today's posts - Yesterday's Posts)/Dividend) = Value So in this case if I use 100, Showcase would be worth 10, Gen. = 20, and News = 1 point. So each stock will be updated hopefully every day. So the activity of each forum will allow the value of the stock to fluctuate. If for some reason I cannot update the stock values, they will remain the same as the preceding day. So in short, this could be an activity booster around the forum. But of course, spamming to increase post count will not be tolerated, as usual. All YCM rules still apply. ;D In the unlikely event that YCM happens to become a deadzone, then the market will crash, and we'll all be out of luck. Boo hoo. :3

Each stock value can pretty much be translated into point value. To purchase a stock(s), please contact me by pm, or simply post with the Type of Stock requested, and the Quantity of the selected stock you wish to buy. You will need to pm me the appropriate amount of points for the number of stocks you wish to purchase. Of course, the price will be the value of the requested stock, during that current day. Of course, if you have purchased stocks, you can also sell them. If you wish to sell, again, pm or post the Stock and the Quantity. I will pay you the amount of points equal to the value of the selected stock that day x the number of stocks you are selling. So depending on the forum's activity, you could make a profit, or lose points. Please be patient, as I may miss your post, or may simply be busy. I will eventually get to paying you if you sell, or recording you if you buy. And no, I'm not a con artist. I don't give a rat's arse about points, so why would I try to scam you/keep your points? If anything, I'll be out of points. Stock Market Crash anyone? ._. If I somehow mess up a transaction, it's because I'm either busy, and haven't had time to be online, or I'm out of town, or dead for unknown causes. If you're still skeptical, well, that's your fault. I myself will keep a detailed log of the purchased stocks of every member(stalkerish eh) so I can prevent any fraud, or cheating of the system. The log will be on the first page, so members can know when they're purchases have been transacted, and so they can periodically check how many stocks they have if they forget.

- All YCM Rules Apply - I have the right to ban any member that are caught messing with the system. - You cannot buy stocks if you do not currently have the amount of points needed for the purchase. - I'm sorry I have to enforce this, but there has to be a limit to the number you buy. For example, if a rich member buys 2K stocks, and happens to sell for 500%, I'll be out of money to pay other members; in short, Stock Market Crash.[s] While I have not yet created a limit, in the meantime just try not to go overboard.[/s] Limit 100 for now. - Any negotiations, please contact me. - Advice, please be wary of your spending habits. But if you ever quickly change your mind but have already sent points, just sell back during that same day to get full refund. - Finally, no complaining. If I don't get to your post or update the stock values, it's because I'm busy, out of town, or dead, you know real-life stuff. So yeah, sophisticated businesspeople do not tolerate complaining. >=D

Ok, I'll give a very detailed description, so you may have some questions if you don't understand it. ;D And I completely understand if you don't want to do it anymore. It can all be very confusing, and gets a bit tedious, just to forewarn. First of all, obviously you are going to make a new thread, so I could pm you the thread layout, or you can make your own layout. So, you can update everyday, every other day, whenever you have time/feel like it, and whatever. So generally, I update at the same time every day. This is because the values of the stocks are really like the average posts per day, so you want to update generally in 24 hr chunks at a time. To update, as I told you, it can take awhile. What you do is take the number of posts from each section. So go to the main forum page where it displays all the forums. Hover your mouse over the top of a section i.e. News and it should give you the number of posts and threads. You're interested in the number of posts. You want to record this somewhere. Copy, then paste. I highly suggest the "Manage Notes" in your User CP. So once you get the number of posts on this first day, you won't be able to find the value of the stock yet. You need to wait until the next day so you can find the increase in number of posts. But then I usually uses something called a divisor to find the final value. For example if General has 1000 posts in a day, the value, as you know is not going to be 1000, that's too high. So I divide 1000 by 5 thus, the final value is 200. 5 remains the divisor all throughout the process, so it stays constant. You don't want to use the same divisor for every forum though. For example, News may have 1 post a day. If I divide that by 5, it'll be .2, I usually round up, so 1. Thus, I usually keep News, divisor at 1. So on a normal day, at the specified time, you'll record the number of posts for the new day, and you'll have the number from the previous day. You just subtract to find the difference and then divide by the divisor (if necessary) to arrive at the final value. Since there are around 20 forums, you'll do this about 20 times, hence the tediousness. Here's an Example of how I set things up: Realistic Cards(5): 535,885 - 537,255 = 40 As you can see, I'm doing RC. The divisor is in the parenthesis (5). So the first number is the number of posts from the previous day. The next number is the number from today. I subtract these to find the difference. The next step is important. This is only if you are updating after more than 24 hours. In this case, I didn't update the day after, but a week after. Thus it was seven days since the last update. In a sense, we're finding the number of posts per day, so I divide by 7, to equal the number of posts per day. Then divide by the divisor, 5. Which equals the end value, 40 (I rounded up from 39). Then of course just update the thread. Note, this is a very long and detailed way to do it. You can probably come up with a more efficient way to calculate the values. I just chose this method as it comes to an end value that isn't dramatically high, but high enough for people to make a profit. You can make any alterations to the process as you see fit i.e. not using divisors, because as of now it is quite inefficient. If you need help with anything, I'll be glad to help. Please don't feel pressured into doing this either.

Thread updates:] Update, 11/5/10 I have become increasingly tired of this system. Therefore I'm opting to either shut down, or pass the thread onto another member. To run the stock system, you need some general math knowledge and a load of patience and time. Magion has already expressed interest in it, but just in case Magion decides to back out, I've included I detailed description on how to run the system if anyone is interested. (Note it's just the pm I sent to Magion) If the system has to be discontinued, I'd be fine with that. I'll either get this locked, or miraculously find a more efficient way to update the stocks with a C++ program or something. For now, I may update a couple more time but please start selling your stocks. Also please no more purchasing stocks. Thanks for your business and cooperation throughout the past months, - Catman ----------------------------------------------------------------- Update, 10/15/10 Limited time only, "Pumpkins" are being given out. Check Special Promotions for details. ------------------------------------------------------ Update, 10/8/10 User-to-user transactions are now possible. If you want to trade/sell with other users, you must follow the following guidelines. Rules may be subject to change. - All trades must be requested/carried out in this thread, so I can record the new stockholders. - You can trade/sell for any price as long as the other person has that amount of points, or the amount of stocks requested. They must agree to the trade. ------------------------------------------------------------- Update, 9/28/10 I've been noticing that I'm getting quite busy as of late. So updates may not every day. Sorry for any inconveniences. ---------------------------------------------------------- Update, 9/26/10 Been out of town, hopefully expecting more frequent updates in the next week. ------------------------------------------------------- Update, 9/15/10 No stock update per se, but I am changing it so the stocks are updated every day. Effective tomorrow. Values of stocks will likely be messed up, therefore you will most likely be getting points back as I will calculate the new values. ---------------------- Update, 9/12/10 If you have any questions, please ask. I know many people on here haven't a clue what a stock is. x) And the point values this [s]week[/s] were approximated due to the fact that I took post count from 3pm and 6pm, multiplied by 8 then by 7. So definitely next week, you'll see a rise/fall of values. And yes, I don't care how inefficient this is, or how stupid, I had fun wasting time to create the thread, so that's all that counts. =P

Catman25
Yes, of course. And if I lose all the points somehow (which I can guarantee I won't), I will find some way to get your points back. Like do 1000 requests and recover the points. Catman25
Thanks, I hope this gets more active. :3 And you could always post more in RC if you want the value to raise. ;D I guess though I should warn people that they could lose points. But then again, if anyone changes their mind, they can sell back the week they buy for full refund. ;D
Raiza
Seems pretty cool So you buy the stocks and sell them when they're worth more? If so, then who do you sell them too?
Catman25
You sell them back to me, and I pay you for the number you sell x the value of the stock for that week. And yeah, if the value goes down, if you sell, you lose points, so you want to sell when the value climbs back up. If it doesn't go up, well idk what. Either wait some more, or sell back before you lose even more. ;D That's what makes stocks interesting.

Catman25
Check the stock values first (first spoiler). Then multiply the value of the stock you want by the number of stocks you want to purchase. Or you could tell me how many you want, and I can figure it out for you. Catman25
I was thinking that too, it's too long of a wait. Irl, stocks are being updated every second. The thing is, I may not have time to be on here to update it. I wanted it to be consistent. Don't want to just update, when I feel like it, it's not fair. Plus, it takes quite a lot of time/number crunching to calculate the new stats. You've brought up a good point though. I'll think about changing the time though. If I do it'll probably be like every other day. =)
