Ah yes, welcome Sirs and Madams, to The Contest Roulette! I am your humble Host, touzaikokon. To those of you who have been invited, I am pleased to see you've accepted my request. To visitors passing by, I invite, no, I implore you to come in, and join us in our little affair. You'll find it quite rewarding that you've done so.

[spoiler=What is this?]

So, I've decided that it's time I up and made a contest. It's taken a while to get everything prepared, but I think this will be something great. You see, this differs from usual contests because there will be no eliminations, only prizes, and each round, the rewards get sweeter and sweeter. This is going to test not just your card making ability, but your resolve and ambition, as well...

[spoiler=How does it work?]

There will be 5 Standard Rounds, 3 Roulette Rounds, and then a Final Round for the Grand Pot. At the end of each Standard Round the Top Two Players will be named for that round, and offered the prize for that round; they can choose to take the prize and leave, or go double-or-nothing and stay in for another go at even bigger rewards. The choice is up to you: Will you stay? Will you go?

But enough about that; you'll have plenty of time to think once you win. Let's discuss the rounds:

Standard Rounds

Each round, a category is chosen from the Category Roulette by random; the host then names the specific requirement for that round. The Top Two for that round are offered a prize. They can either take the prize and leave, or add their winnings to the pot and continue into the next round. If they choose to remain, they are awarded a Gold Chip, which can be cashed in at any time for 1 rep (100 points), or saved for the Final Round. Of course, the winners cannot have all the glory. As they say that the meek shall inherit the earth, the theme for the next round will then be selected by the person with the lowest score.

Roulette Rounds

The rules are identical to the Standard Rounds, except: before a Roulette Round begins, the Host and Staff will confer and pick a number between 0 and 40. Then, Players will choose and post 1 number with their card. If a player wins the round, and their number matches the Host's number, their prize for that round is doubled, including any Gold Chips. In addition, Players can purchase the ability to post an extra number; the first extra number costs 10 points, and all subsequent extra numbers cost 20 points.

Final Round

And of course, no contest would be complete without a pot, and the Grand Pot is the prize here. In this round, it's a winner-take-all contest for previous victors who have managed to hold out until the end. To participate in this round, Players must give their Gold Chip to the Host; they will receive 1 Credit per Gold Chip. For each Credit, they are allowed to make 1 card to submit into the Final Round. The card chosen by the Host and the Attendants will be declared the winner, and that Player will receive the Grand Pot.

[spoiler=What's in it for me?]

Each round, prizes will be offered, according to the following chart:

This chart is in the following format:

Round Type:

Round # - 1st Place prize; 2nd Place prize

NOTE: Because of the new forum, everyone's points have been reset. Because 1 rep also affords you 100 points, the majority of prizes are now based in reps.

Standard Rounds:

Round 1 - 1 rep (100 points); 50 points

Round 2 - 2 reps (200 points); 1 rep (100 points)

Round 3 - 3 reps (300 points); 2 reps (200 points)

Round 4 - 4 reps (400 points); 3 reps (300 points)

Round 5 - 5 reps (500 points); 4 reps (400 points)

Roulette Rounds:

Round 1 - 3 reps (300 points); 1 rep (100 points)

Round 2 - 4 reps (400 points); 3 reps (300 points)

Round 3 - 6 reps, (600 points); 4 reps, (400 points)

Final Round:

10 Reps (1000 points!) + The Grand Pot

[spoiler=What do I have to do?]

As will all contests, there is an entry fee into this little shindig. Costs are determined by level:

[2 Stars - 10 points

3 Stars - 15 points

4+ Stars - 20 points

All of this will be entered into the Grand Pot, along with any donations that anyone is generous enough to contribute.

I'm looking for at least 20 contestants, although more are welcome to join. If you think that you would rather not participate as a Player, and you have at least 4-Stars, consider joining the Staff. Your duties will include rating the Players' entries, and assisting the Host in the duties of this contest.

[spoiler=You should know...]

Again, as will all contests, there are certain rules that I ask all Players to abide by. Please read the following rules:

• All YCM Rules apply. An infraction of this will result in disqualification of the round. Repeated infractions will result in expulsion from the contest.

• Gold Chips can be bought and sold between players for points, as long as the transfer is reported to the Host, or a member of the Staff. Once the transaction is finalized, an announcement will be placed in the thread, and the information will be changed.

• A player can have no more than 3 Gold Chips. If a player exceeds this limit, they will instead be given the round prize (not their multiplied bonus; however, the bonus will still be awarded later), but not be forced to withdraw from the following round. The Gold Chip in question will then go to the next highest Player for that round.

• Players must be timely. All cards must be posted within 3 days after a round starts. Players can request to be on a list that the Host will PM with reminders for thread updates.

• Staff must be timely. All reviews must be posted within 4 days after a round starts. If a Staff member fails to review on time, their reviews will be disregarded, and they will not be paid for that round. Repeat offenders will be asked to leave permanently.

• Staff are expected to give sufficient explanations for their ratings at the request of the Player. Cards will be ranked based on the following scale:

Creativity: 5/20

Utility: 5/20

Balance: 4/20

Grammar: 3/20

Image Quality: 2/20

Details (Set Name, Creator info, etc): 1/20

Are you ready to play?

[spoiler=Just to make sure everyone is up-to-date, here are some clarifications quoted from the other thread:]

Staff members are awarded 1 Rep per Round. I can only accommodate 3 Staff members.

I'm looking for 4-Star members and higher. If you're absolutely intent on being a Staff member, I'll accept you with a reference from another (4+ Star) member.

A Gold Chip is an item given to the winner of each round. The main purpose of Gold Chips is for the Final Round, where a player can trade in Gold Chips for Credits, which are basically opportunities to win the Final Round. (i.e., if a Player has 2 Gold Chips, they can trade them for 2 Credits, and then enter 2 cards into the Final Round).For the sake of balance, a player is only allowed up to 3 Gold Chips for the duration of The Contest Roulette. Of course, a player may buy or sell Gold Chips to other players, so long as there is an agreed-upon price by both parties, and the Host is informed.Finally, Gold Chips can be sold back to the Host; you will receive 1 rep and 20 points. However, you will lose the Gold Chip, and your opportunity for a Credit.

The included Category Roulette is not only for Roulette Rounds, but will be used to decide the theme for the Standard Rounds as well. It has been included because they are only general themes that will be used to determine the challenge for the round. For example, if the theme was "Attribute," I could ask you to make a DARK monster as part of the round.

Staff members rate all Player cards, and for the sake of fairness, you cannot rate your own. You can be either [a Staff member or a Player], but not both.

Well, it seems that we have reps and points now, but reps are more abuse-able. That being said, I'm just going to double the amount of reps in each round's prize, since rep inflation is probably going to kick in. If we begin the contest and people would like to be paid before points are returned to normal, I will also give out 1 rep for each 10 points you would have won.

I would also like to explain in more detail the "double-or-nothing" rule. If a player chooses to remain in the contest after placing in the Top Two, they get a Gold Chip and can go "double-or-nothing". If they do this, and they place 1st in the next round, their winnings for the new round, (as far as points, etc.), are doubled. If they place 2nd, their winnings are multiplied by 1.5.That being said, you can only collect these prizes by leaving the tournament, (until the Final Round), or by having 3 Gold Chips.Also, I'd like to note that if a Player does not win consecutive rounds, then they lose the chance to collect their winnings, multiplied or otherwise.In a nutshell: to double your prizes, you must continue winning in a row.

This will probably take somewhere in the range of two months. Because of the nature of the contest, you do not have to participate in all of the rounds. However, if you (officially) leave a round after placing in the Top Two, you may not return until the Final Round.

Just send the payment, and I'll put you into the player's list.

Also, apparently, when you give a rep, the user also gets 100 points. I haven't really tested this out, but if anyone is willing to help, just rep this post. (I will rep you back, of course).

If this is true, I will adjust the prizes accordingly.
