WATER Signer Dragon - Glacier Spear Dragon

So, I have seen some members make their own Signer cards, so I decided to give it a try. I made 3 versions of it: The Synchro, the Assault Mode and finally the Majestic version.

Introduction:

The sixth and last Signer Dragon, which was rejected by the Crimson Dragon itself for its opposite Attribute (WATER, assuming the Crimson Dragon is originally FIRE), has now been released and it now shall freeze any Spell or Trap card and prevent them from working.

21083.jpg

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

When this card is Synchro Summoned, Spell Cards cannot be activated until your opponent's End Phase. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.

-In the same way as "Ancient Fairy Dragon" could be considered the evolved form of "Fairy Dragon", this card is the evolved form of "Spear Dragon".

-I know this effect is not really original (it is basically "Cold Wave" and "Spear Dragon" mixed in a single card), but it can be handy when you need to negate Spells or Traps on a turn. Also the effects of its evolved forms are improved versions of this one, as you will see below.

21083j.jpg

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with "Assault Mode Activate". During your Draw Phase, if you draw a Spell or Trap Card, you can reveal it. Until your opponent's End Phase, cards of the same kind as the card revealed cannot be activated. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 "Glacier Spear Dragon" from your Graveyard.

21083d.jpg

"Majestic Dragon" + "Glacier Spear Dragon" + 1 non-Tuner monster

The effects of your opponent's Spell and Trap Cards are negated. Once per turn, until the End Phase, you can negate the effect(s) of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls and if this card battles that monster in Defense Position, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. During the End Phase, return this card from the field to the Extra Deck, and Special Summon 1 "Glacier Spear Dragon" from your Graveyard.

21083.jpg

1 Tuner Monster + 1 Spell Card + "Glacier Spear Dragon"

If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, destroy that monster at the start of the Damage Step and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the difference between this card's ATK and that monster's DEF. During each player's turn, you can reveal 1 Tuner monster in your hand until the End Phase to negate the activation of a Spell or Trap Card and destroy it. When an opponent's monster declares an attack, you can remove from play this card to negate the attack. If you negate an attack this way, Special Summon this card during the End Phase.

-In the same way as the other 2 Cosmic Synchro dragons are based on cosmic elements or phenomenons, this card is based on ice meteorites that supposedly roam through the Universe.

-"Shooting Star Dragon" gains powers from Tuners in the Deck, while "Red Nova Dragon" gains power form Tuners in the Graveyard. So this card gains power from Tuners in the hand.

EDIT: Lowered the DEF so the Assault Mode wouldn't have more DEF than the Cosmic Synchro.

i cant see the first card.

wait its there....comp problems -.-

well its good overall. nice to see a few info and other things effect is fine.

1st card: 8.3/10 (Effect is a little bit simple)

2nd card: 8.9/10 (Effect is short but good)

3rd card: 8.1/10 (Its ok but im not much of a fan of piercing)

Im just concerned about the majestic it may negate spell and traps but for a card thats hard to Synchro the piercing really isnt much

I see. So, I will change the effect of the Assault Mode so it lets the opponent activate 1 Spell or Trap card per turn only. I could add the Piercing effect as well.

As for the Majestic, I don't see how is OP'ed as the Spell/Trap prevention effect only lasts 1 turn. I could change the effect it only prevents Spell or Trap cards.

1st Card 8.6/10 1st effect is good but piercing is ordinary.

2nd Card 8.4/10 Assualt Mode cards are usually better than what its got though. Effect is alright but could be better.

3rd Card 8/10 For synchro monsters total levels of tributed monsters ,not more. Returning to the extra deck when summoned means it is not worth it.

Pictures 10/10

  • 9 months later...

Well, its original form has too strong of an effect for a level 8. I would probably make it a level 9, or tone down the effect/weaken its stats.

Your Assault Mode has to have "/Assault Mode" in its name. Not "-Assault Mode". I don't know if you were forced to do that because of programming or not, but that's how their names are formed.

Majestic is... meh.

Cosmic form is pretty useful, but he loses out against the others which are pure powerhouses.

Nice point with the name of the Assault Mode; I will fix it right away.

I know the effects are a bit dull, as "Glacier Spear Dragon" focuses on negating Spell/Traps, in reference to the card "Cold Wave"; so it's a bit difficult to work with more creative forms of negation. I would really appreciate if you could suggest more creative effects for the Assault Mode, who currently has the effect of "Great Shogun Shien".

EDIT:

Yeah, the Cosmic version of "Glacier Spear Dragon" is not really offensive-oriented, but it focuses on protection instead. By destroying Defense Monsters by effect, it prevents your opponent from using the dreaded "Honest" or activating the destruction effects of monsters such as Ryko or "Snowman Eater". And with at least 2 Tuners in hand, it gets to negate more cards than its counterpart "Shooting Star Dragon".

What's funny is that your card made it so you can't Assault Mode it on first turn, and then its negation effect becomes a downgraded version once it powers up.

Here is my suggestion:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with "Assault Mode Activate". Once per turn, when your opponent activates a Spell or Trap Card effect, you may remove from play a card of the same Type (Spell or Trap) in your Graveyard to negate its activation and destroy that card, This card cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects during the turn this effect was activated. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 "Glacier Spear Dragon" from your Graveyard.

Though that might be overpowered.

EDIT: Or you could use the removal effect, and for that turn it negates the effects of all cards on that Type.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with "Assault Mode Activate". Your opponent can activate only 1 Spell/Trap Card each turn. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. Looks pretty sweet.

Effects are well balanced, maby a little on the weak side but i've seen worse.

Personaly I hoped this card would be Lvl 7 because there already 3 level 8 vs 2 level 7 signer dragons. But thats just personal prefrence.

Overal:

#1

8,5/10

Nothing to strong but still useable. I think this card would look awesone if it would be ghost rare :P

#2

9,5/10

Really like this card the best just because the picture is awesome. Still a little bit inferior to stardust/assault mode. Not that I really care mutch (water attribute cards are the best)

#3

9/10

Nice card, could be used in some strong combinations. Would be better if it's effect only worked against your opponent.

#4

9/10

Good card, good effect. But I would rate this card even higher if it had a more original summoning condition. Like using a trap card that acts like a tuner.

Thanks for your comments.

@Moonfang: I made it Level 8 so it would be considered a counterpart of the other 2 Dragons with advanced forms.

I will reconsider the effect of the Majestic: Affecting only your opponent seems fair, given the difficulty of Summoning it plus the fact that it will be removed from the field at the end of the turn.

And coming up with a more creative effect for Summoning Freezing Meteor is a bit difficult. There are not many variants of Synchro Summoning, unless I try something like this:

1 Tuner + 1 Spell Card + "Glacier Spear Dragon"

Since all Synchro Materials must come from the field, the Spell Card would have to be active in your field, so I guess mostly Continuous Spells would be used.

@slayer: I actually like your suggestion. And I never noticed that you wouldn't be able to AM Glacier Spear as soon as it is Summoned; I could change it to negate only Spell Cards, until your next End Phase.

EDIT: Changes made
