Sorry this isn't Pokemon related, but I could use some help.

Ok, as I've said before, I am now a spriter for a friend's fighting game. I'm in charge of about 4 or 5 characters. I am also in charge of picking a style. Well I've had a tough time in the last two weeks or so picking one. We had a style before that was good and I was able to work out, but the style was too small, wouldn't have worked for us. So now I had to figure something new out. I've chosen a style now, and before going any farther, I needed to get some critique and opinions and comments. Raizou, my character, may not be the best test for a style, he's so large and beefy that it complicates things. I'm not done with this sprite, still shading and stuff to work on. The chain mail on the legs hasn't been designed yet. For the most part though this is my idea on the style. I don't know if it works though, so I need as much help as I can get.

Of course Raizou is a power character! As for your request(?), we have the characters set already, from what I can recall, they are all our RP characters. Don't worry, there will be a fast type character, if not multiple. I myself am spriting 4-5 characters. Two of my own, and two of a friends. There could possibly be a 5th guy I'll be in charge of if we get the chance. Really the thing stopping me from continuing past this point is that I need to decide if this style I've done is the one we'll be using.

Well I did some more work with the style. I haven't be able still to properly do Raiou, things about him are bothering. I decided I needed to do more than just our large beefy guy, so I quick threw together our smallest character. This little guy is a ninja/samurai, or I forget what exactly. I think my friend has called him a 'Ronin'. I've always pictured him as a ninja though. He is a fox person, he is based on a sonic RP character. His name is Ryu, perhaps some of you may even know the owner of this character.

Now his appearance I'm basing off of older descriptions of the character. I also am not the person in charge of making his sprites. This basically means I won't be doing anything more with the character beyond this point. I merely did him for size reference for the style. I also touched up Raizou some.

Opinions and stuff on the style or how either of the sprites are would be greatly welcomed. I can't say though I'll go and fix Ryu, just because I'm not keeping his sprite.

Welcome back Spleko. See you're improving. With the guy who is too big, I think you could just shorten the paw. Also I see some color malfunctions, name near the ear in the back. The texture on the tail is off, I say get rid of the black lines going through. I don't like how the brighter shade wraps around the back end, I think it should have rounded off before going around. The rattle on the tail's texture could match the medallion color better.

I'd say you're shading on the Fakemon is good, but borders and shaping could be smoother. Round things out more is my opinion.

Well here is another batch. In the blue shirt we have Bill. Bill is an interesting character. He's the kind of guy who after a match will do a twirl, rip his shirt off, and then rub his nipples... Bill is interesting. He has a guitar as a weapon also, so I think he is cool. I may or may not be doing all of his sprites, depends how fast I do the others.

The next new one is Shun-Yu. I don't know if I have to describe him again, I've done so multiple times... I might as well. He's a Chinese Hopping Vampire, or Jiang Shi. In ways they are more like zombies than vampires though. You can't see it now but in battle you'll have the option to switch between two forms of Shun-Yu, long armed and short armed. This sprite here is short armed. The long arm formed will of course have longer reach, and fight differently. Shun-Yu can lengthen his arms due to rigamortis.

I've made a few touchups to the other two sprites. Raizou is bothering me, so he isn't perfect yet until I get a better grasp on the style I'm using. Ryu I don't care too much for still because I'm not his spriter.

Comments, critique, and whatever highly requested.

new fakemon, all i know is that its electric type, and its a canine. It looks kinda like its made out of rubber to me -_- which wasnt what i was going for but w/e, it came out alright imo. Main thign is that im not sure what color set to use.(note, i dont use custom colors still, since im terribe at picking them, s i take color palletes from other already made pokemon, the rest is normally entirely fake.)

oh, and im also going to be revamping the snake-horse-dog-lion-fringe monster(excelent tv show, excelent episode) thingy later. Ill probably try scratching out most of the head and tail this time.

EDIT: after posting just noticed some minor line-art errors in the rubber electric(paradox?) doggie thing, mainly under the mouth and neck area, will fix later.

EDIT: tried puttign rayquaza's head on snake beats thiny, think it looks slightly better. revamp again in the not so near future? tell what you think. (still doesnt fit in 80x80 :/ )

Recent or new is fine.

It could have been posted, only recently.

new sprite. completely scratched, cept for colors and eye (which i will edit later). evolution to the rubber electric doggie from yesterday. will make a third evo later. only thing i really need to edit is the eye (the one on teh way right is the final draft one) p.s.-twist, once i fix the eye, this will be the sprite i enter into the SpOTW contest

EDIT:

electrichoundfin-2.png

fixed eye and some shading (see fourth box for newest version)

front beckground leg(its right leg) still looks akwerd, will work on it later tho

EDIT: made some changes to my first, what was considered, a reallllly good splice. Jappio reviewed it way back when so i figured i'd do a, well not really a revamp, but just some very slight touch ups to it. I edited the shading to try and make it have one single light source, which i think i succeded at. I cleaned up teh borders some. and i just edited shading in general in some spots(very minor). I alos tried sucking in his stomach some sincfe it always looked wierd to me(this is the far right version) but it still looks kinda wierd, i think the head placement in general might have just been not too great to beggin with but w/e, its not too terrible

terll me what you think, espeially you jappio, i wanna hear wether or not you think its any better :) (P.S. first sprite, far left, is the original)

It has improved. I myself really do dislike un-recolored borders, and in a way I dislike it just as much as no saving as .png, but that's just me. Without that gone it loses its immediate error. The light source fixing and stuff is nice to see, when done right, going the extra mile doesn't hurt. The highlight though at the end of the back, around the tail, I don't know if making them white there is the best idea, just because I'd imagine an area that far down and right next to that huge fluffy tail would be getting direct lighting. I also want to say the head is too far to the right. The right ear (our right) also doesn't seem right. The way you have it, we can see in it. That doesn't make much sense, unless the ear is that awkwardly crooked.

I know I problem didn't bright up some of these points way back when I first did it. If I remember correctly though, back then I wasn't a critic either, and less as a spriter in general. All I've said those it nitpicky, on the outside the thing still looks dandy, but closer inspection reveals multiple small faults.

thanks for the review jappio. and yeh, i had some trouble with the border accent lines. and i also notices the ear thing, but i noticed after i alredy posted it. so yeh, thnx.

in other news. I finished the luxray re-pose/ scratch, but im not sure you can call it a scratch since i rezized the pic. then did lineart over it, scratched the ears and furry parts, and then i scratched the eye and shading/colors. so here it is. tell me which shading is better plox.

Top looks better. In general I have to say, I'm not a big fan of it. The exaggerated style is good for picture, but it doesn't match the Pokemon sprite style very well. The long legs look odd in sprite form, the style of the drawing doesn't really match the style of the spriting.

Two more people added.

First up is Alexa. She's all bundled up in armor and clothing due to the cold climate she comes from. She wields a claymore in battle. If I remember correctly she also has forms of ice magic and or attacks.

Secondly is Moonblade. He wields a spear. I have not much more to say of the guy due to the fact that I know a lot of tedious facts about the dude, but nothing though I think really describe him to well.

I've also gone and fixed up some of the other guys. What really annoyed me was for the longest time I couldn't figure out how I was going to do Raizou's chainmail. Then while doing Alexa I had to do some. The first pattern/style I tried for it worked beutifully, and I was all "God dang it, how is it I wasn't able to figure something that simple for Raizou!" Then I applied it to Raizou. I updated Ryu. I originally wasn't going to pay so much attention to the little guy, but since people have been so kind to critique him, I figured I might as well update and fix him up.
