Disable Post Count in Intros

Quite a smiple request really. I fought long and hard to get Leaving/Return transferred to Games and was annoyed when Glasstin tried to move it back to Intros. Introductions is one of the most Spam Filled Cess-Pools on YCM (Not counting Games)

I propose that Post Count is disabled as all I see is the same Lame Copy Pasted sentences from Members saying Hello. There's obviously no feeling to it and is almost Robotic. Now Glasstin is Mod of General I don't see this happening. He used to do it all the time.

Falling Pizza disabled once back when the suggestion thread was first made, and then turned it back on shortly afterward.

The reason for leaving post count there, was because no one would post there anymore if post count was turned off, so new members would feel shunned.

Or something like that.

Fewer people post there then when it was in General.

Yes, some people would post in the Introductions section, but far less than now.

I don't really care either way, but if post count does stay on, then mods should be more strict abotu the people who keep pasting the same message.

this has been suggested many times before but it never got put into use

i posted there a couple of times but i wouldn't mind losing a few post counts.

Like J-Max said,if they actually wanted to welcome the member they would post even if they don't earn post counts.

people in there can simply gain a post by changing the previous message a couple of times and i never know why it was worth a post count just to say hi,hello, welcome, etc. and place in a few things like "don't spam","make good cards",etc.

i support 100%

Yeah i do support J-Max's idea, although i post there often. People who really care about helping newbies won't bother staying with the same post count when posting there, so yeah, it's a nice idea.:)

After reconsidering' date=' I've decided to re-institute post count in introductions. It provides a welcoming environment for incoming members, and there might be a lack of motivation for members to post in intros if those posts don't count towards their total. The fact that it contributes to post count really is not a problem unless you place a high emphasis on post count, which we as a community do not. There may be some individuals who think post count is relevant, but that is not something that is sponsored by the site; if that is their motivation for welcoming a new member to the site, then so be it.

I apologize for being so quick to institute the rule. It seems like "such a simple thing", but the indirect effects are important to consider.[/quote']
