Sbamber
...that the trainers never have good Pokemon? It is strange. Discuss.
Catman25
I don't get why like in the first movie, Ash had like Bulbasaur that could stand up to a Machamp. <_< He never evolves his pokemon, which I guess relates to the topic? Sbamber
Yes, that is exactly what I'm talking about. How is it that something to small and weak stands up to something so big and tough.
OMGAKITTY
The existence of pokemon is actually harmful to the progression of the human race. Pokemon retard the development of various technologies, such as motor vehicles (outside of Gary's car, and Officer Jenny's motorbike, none seem to exist), and even basic weaponry (how exactly does Jenny enforce the law?). Team Rocket seems to be the only people in the Pokeverse that have any sort of advanced technology that is not directly related to Pokemon. Also: it can be seen that most Pokemon are of at least, if not higher, intelligence of humans. So why is it that the humans are the "masters" and the Pokemon must fight for the humans' entertainment? More on topic, Ash is a very bad trainer. If you pay attention, he's given away all his Pokemon at one point or another, with the exception of Pikachu. And being able to shout "Dodge it, [pokemon]!" does not make one a good trainer. Logic dictates that the pokemon would dodge it anyway, on the basis of survival instinct. Lastly, I think Ash is Prof Oak's illegitimate son.Fact 1. Ash's father is never shown, or mentioned.Fact B. All the professors are named after trees. What is an Ash? A tree.Fact IV. Oak treats Ash very well, but seems to completely ignore his so-called "grandson" Gary. Gary =/= a tree. OmegaWave
Because they want to express "Just because they're small doesn't mean they can't kick total ass." And the fact that most of the good pokemon are legendaries...that's self explanatory.
Desu the Blue Nerd
It's pokemon. Would little kids want to see a bulbasaur or a venasaur? Shrekstasy
If all the people had big, intimidating pokemon, then the little dudes and chicks would be afraid to watch it, as the tyranitar would rip off Ash's head.
Felix
I find it stupid how when two Pokemon battle, let's take the Pokemon Contest battle between May and Ash; May's Blaziken is kicking seven types of $h!t out of Ash's Sceptile with Blaze Kick and Overheart but in the end Sceptile is still standing... huh? IT SHOULD BE DEAD LET AFTER A FREAKIN' EMBER, LET ALONE THE 3rd MOST POWERFULL FIRE MOVE!!! NOT TO MENTION HE USED 3 OF THEM!! It's so stupid how these Pokemon take hit after freakin' hit and still kill the other guy in one hit, GRAGH!!
Lazer Yoshi
Because it's a children's show. The cartoon is describing how the underdog wins. But the show really doesn't follow the game: Battle Strategies and Storywise. XD

Jericho
Ash's pokemon are all at their max levels (100) albeit in their first state (except Charizard, Muk, and probably some others).
Felix
They are not 100, they freakin' well should be but they're not. They mention levels a few times but it never really plays much importance in the anime. No Ash's Pokemon just plain suck but somehow the cheating little... boy... pulls through and wins. Although, every body knows that for an instant win you need to shoot a Thunderbolt into a cloud and let it hit you so it becomes armor, duh:roll:
Xing
Pikachu should be able to destroy anything right away. I mean, it's been like, 9 seasons. If we can get a LV 100 Pokemon in 1 region in a video game, Pikachu should easily be 100. To OMGAKITTY: He actually TRIED to get rid of Pikachu once, in season 1. But Pikachu came back. Anyways, they really do have weak PKMN. Gym Leaders battle daily, and should EASILY have LV 100 PKMN. Ash is the Yusei, Yugi, Jaden, etc. of Pokemon. He can never lose unless he is forced to, or the animators didn't feel like he should win. They should've honestly let him keep Charizard, 'cause when he gets his butt kicked, he does this. "Hey, Liza, I got my butt kicked, and it's still sore. Can I have Charizard.........ok, thnx, bye". Seriously. Charizard never loses, and could possibly be stronger than Pikachu, yet you would think Pikachu SHOULD be better. Ash never evolves anything........that's why he sucks. He usually only evolves the Grass PKMN, like Chikorita, Treeko, and Turtwig probably. The only other ones that he evolved were Charmander, crappy Catterpie, Pidgeotto, and a few others. Felix
Picachu couldn't stand up to a Rock Smash, no matter how high it's level it'll alaways be trash. The insanity of it is the Gym Leaders/ Battle Frontier Brains (Some of the greatest trainers ever) Who have had 10* the ammount of experience as any ordinary trainer get beaten by a 10 year old and a yellow rat. And Ash loses a lot more than Yugi ever did. Don't even get me started on how much bs Yugi pulls out of his ass.Every couple of trainer battles, the makers will pull this age old formula: 1. Ash is overconfident.1a. Opponent may be disillusioned toward making friends with pokemanz, and just trains them to be mad buff, like any sane person would.2. Ash goes and trains his pokemanz, creating new bonds of friendship3. Ash goes back and has a rematch, where the power of friendship pulls through.3a. If 1a is in effect, opponent then realizes that being friends with his/her pokemanz is the greatest thing ever (usually after an attack by Team Rocket)3b. Optionally, Ash's pokemanz evolve. Felix
Or he turns Lightning into armor and beats the crap out of anything in his way. lulz, I'll never get over how lame that was, HOW THE HELL DID HE KNOW THAT WOULD HAPPEN!?!?! PrometheusMFD
Because if the Trainers had good pokemon, the show would be shorter. Thus, giving Pokemon less of a chance to merchandice.Take that, Pikachu!

Felix
Let's not forget how Croagunk, yes Croagunk took it upon hime self (In the 10th Movie) to jump in front of Dialga's Roar of Time (The most powerfull Dragon Type move in Pokemon history) and just tap it away with Counter. Why doesn't every body use Croagunk? It's freakin' awesome.[/sarcasm] Oh and what was Brock's response?... "Wayda go Croagunk!!"... Idiot.
