are effect tuners actually effect monsters?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at them, and I realised, they don't actually say they are effect monsters. now, only a complete tard to the game wouldn't understand the color of the card means they have an effect, but since it does not actualy say effect, is it actually an effect monster in terms of what a card does to it, like non-spellcasting area, which effects all non-effect monsters.

just a thought.

Konami could have made them [Warrior/Effect/Tuner]

But no' date=' Konami cant put effort into anything Yugioh...

Or, you know, the fact that would look odd.

Any sub-type has that instead of it's effect kid, it's doesn't mean it isn't treated as an effect monster. Being orange also signifies that they have effects. You can be an effect monster and have a sub-type too.

we have an uninformed noob population. I just wanted to get this question answered before it comes up.

Using Effect as a Subtype these days is very outdated. Probably, it was just used at first to distinguish them from Normal Monsters. But since we now have monsters other than Normal Monsters, the term "Effect Monster" needs an update. As the wording is now, Skill Drain actually only negates the effects of monsters with the Effect subtype: Gemini Monsters can Normal Summon themselves to gain their effects (which are then negated by Skill Drain, but still.) More important, monsters belonging to other Subtypes don't have their effects negated.

Armory Arm isn't, and shouldn't be, a Union.

Armory Arm wasnt a Synchro Union' date=' when it should have

So Im kind of guessing Konami will never release Double Subtypes

why shouldn't they anyway, I mean they do keep that entire line open for types and sub-types, I bet you could fit in all of them easy.

Yes, they should use YCM as a shining example of what to do; add so many extra sub-types that the card looks terrible.

An effect was never a sub-type though. It was there before sub-types were made so it was put in that spot, but any card with any orange background is treated as such. If it wasn't treated as an Effect monster it wouldn't matter about Skill Drain, their effect wouldn't be active at all.

Look at any Effect monster. Stratos for example says "Warrior / Effect" in it's Type. Then, look at Gigaplant, or Z-Metal Tank, or Junk Synchron. Plant / Gemini, Machine / Union, Warrior / Tuner.

Conclusion: Effect is a Subtype. The fact that Gigaplant, Z-Metal Tank and Junk Synchron have the same background color as Effect monsters simply mean that they are Effect cards, not Effect monsters.
