EliminateHRN
Black and White? I like the names. I haven't been playing Diamond that much' date=' but I decided earlier this week to restart my game. I'm currently at the entrance to Eterna Forest (spelling?). Here's my team. [spoiler=My Diamond Team']Batty the ZubatLv. 21, Naive,Wing Attack, Confuse Ray,Astonish, Bite Dryad the GrotleLv. 21, Sassy,Tackle, Curse,Absorb, Razor Leaf Lightning the LuxioLv. 21, Careful,Tackle, Spark,Charge, Bite Chucky the HM Slave Bidoof That's my team. I know I need better moves. So help with moves and stuff is appreciated. Also, do natures actually matter in-game? I'm just curious. So any suggestions on my Diamond team? Have you been caring for your Zubat. In most of my games, if I'm lucky, I evolve my Zubat into Golbat at Level 22 and Golbat would evolve into Crobat one level after if my Golbat trusts me a LOT! I have no idea. I've been trying to make him happy, but I don't know if he likes me. I guess I'll just keep making him happy, and hope I get lucky. Aximil
So like' date=' I want to get into competitive battling. Right now all I know is what tiers are and what Pokemon are in what tier. I still don't understand the Sweeper stuff. Also, what tier would you guys recommend to a newbie like me?[/quote'] http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/intro_comp_pokemon That should get you started into the world of competetive battling. That site has everything you'll ever need to know about it. Except maybe Serebii to see what Pokémon learn what moves for move breeding I guess. Some really great all around pokemon are Swamp, Meta, Sal, Lucario, Rotom Apps, Skarm, Bliss, Star, Rachi, Vap, Celebi, Gengar, Gliscor, Ape, Gyara. Basicly use the higher tier pokemon. Dark
Black and White isn't that creative, but I'd much rather it be Black and White and actually make sense than be Obsidian and Quartz and not have any sort of relation to each other. Seriously... Red/Blue. Both are colors, both are primary, and Yellow was third.Gold/Silver, both precious metals. Crystal is a crystal. <___<Ruby/Sapphire, both gems, Emerald is the third gem.Diamond/Pearl, both stones (?), and Platinum is iirc a metal.Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Heart and Soul are both linked with friendship/emotion. Black and White are the two extremes of the visible spectrum, but I pray the third one isn't Gray. That would just fail... hard.

Felix
Unless they gave it a name that means "No colour", something like that maybe. I reckon and HOPE that this will be the last Generation.

But still, I "HOPE" that it is. I DID NOT QUOTE HIM EXACTLY, MISTER! <3 Ehh, I'd actually like some more generations. But once they hit 700+ Pokemon, I'd just give up on trying to catch 'em all without an AR. It's a fun series, and the mainline games have always been good. Why should it stop only after 5 generations?
Felix
But it'd just be too much of something there's already going to be too much of:/ It just get's ridiculous after a point. And White and Black seem pretty be all and end all. I mean the 1st Gen were primary colours of light (RBG). White is all those colours together and Black is the absense of light. Seems like a good way to finish of the series. Diamond and Pearl would've been stupid names to finish on.
Brushfire
They need to stop bringing out hundreds of new Pokémon. The vast majority of them aren't even needed and it's getting really stupid. Pokémon Black and White are amazing names though, I don't know what you guys are on about. Simplistic and yet drags me in to what these games will involve, it should be great. Btw, Kanto has been in every generation so far... just thought I'd point that out. =P

Just because you start with the primary colors and come to the spectrum extremes doesn't mean a series will end. I'm sure they could find more and more and more names for new generations. And your logic can be used back at you saying Red and Blue were dumb names to start off with. It's quite obvious that the game is based on elements in nature, so it should've been Fire and Water. They need to stop bringing out hundreds of new Pokémon. The vast majority of them aren't even needed and it's getting really stupid. Btw, Kanto has been in every generation so far... just thought I'd point that out. =P A new generation will bring new generation, so just deal with it. I don't want to see 200 new Pokemon in one generation, but one of the main reasons I stick with Pokemon is to see what new Pokemon will come out. Will there be an xyz evo? Will there be a type1/type2 Pokemon? How about one based off of [something]? And Kanto was in Gen I, Gen II, Gen I Remakes and Gen II Remakes. But Gen III and Gen IV lack any trace of Kanto, to my knowledge.
Brushfire
Ah, well that would be telling. Kanto has been in every generation to date, something very noticeable and more than likely- something that won't change. Think: Generation 1: KantoGeneration 2: Johto, KantoGeneration 3: Hoenn, KantoGeneration 4: Sinnoh, Johto, KantoGeneration 5: [region], Kanto? Or maybe the colours represent a return to Kanto... Hmm, I still think that Kanto will be featured in Generation 5 in some way, as it's been in every Generation to date, and it's a common trend. But Gen III and Gen IV lack any trace of Kanto' date=' to my knowledge.[/quote'] Pokémon FRLG and Pokémon HGSS count as Generation III and IV, you should know this. Anyway, someone said "They have a God Pokémon, how are they going to top that?". After picking up my reading spectacles. I studied Arceus and his background thoroughly, being sure not to miss a detail. I then read my ancient scriptures and books regarding Gods, including The Bible. And thus I came to a great conclusion. The new Pokémon Game will feature a Jesus Pokémon, complete with a Halo above his head, and the game will feature a Garden of Eden theme, hence the White. The game will also have a complete Olympus of God Pokémon, set in the clouds where the Greek Gods should be. Arceus may or may not be Zeus, though I'm guessing he is as he created all Pokémon (I'm still wondering what that makes Mew btw-- Adam?). There will also be a Haedes, the Devil Pokémon, who lives in the Underworld, hence the Black. Instead of having a Space theme as Pokémon Diamond and Pearl did, Pokémon Black and White will be set in a mystical land similar to Heaven, in the clouds. Dark
A Jesus Pokemon? Use Prophecy! <___< And I automatically assumed Darkrai was the "devil Pokemon", because he is just that badass. Brushfire
I already did, in the previous post. FRLG counts as Gen. III, and HGSS counts as Gen. IV. Felix
The Generations are the set new Pokemon and the games they are a part of, not a series of games made on the same format. [/quote'] If they start with RBG/Fire, Water, Grass and end with BW/Dark and Light; surely you'll have to agree with the significance of that. If they just ignore all that and still make more games I'll be pissed. Hell, they might just go and make Magenta, Yellow and Cyan and restart a whole new cycle.
Dark
If they restart a new cycle (and thus start from scratch with new Pokemon), I wouldn't be too sad. It's like the series is starting completely over again, but you can still have the nostalgia of the past games if you own 'em. I already did' date=' in the previous post. FRLG counts as Gen. III, and HGSS counts as Gen. IV. You should know this if you were a true Pokémon fan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_%28video_game_series%29#Handheld_games[/quote'] The games are listed on what engine they run on. The games listen in Gen I run on the Gen I engine, and so on and so forth. DPPtHGSS all run on the Gen IV engine, but because HGSS is a remake, it is not considered to actually be in Gen IV. That's why whenever I talk about gens, I use I, II, III, I Remakes, IV, II Remakes and V. I never lump HGSS into Gen IV nor do I lump FRLG into Gen III, because they actually aren't. Felix
Oh, and they aren't making the new games on this "3DS" thing that's been talked about, not only does this disprove Brushfires theory but it also is another indication that it'll be the last games... it makes sense to me anyway. But even if it was on the 3DS, it'd still have compatibility with DPPtHGSS somehow. But because it's a new gen, you won't be able to battle between DPPtHGSS and BW. Brushfire
Not only has it been confirmed that they are not for the Nintendo 3DS, but it could still have compatibility to battle DPPt- they could break the cycle. And even so, Kanto has still been part of every Generation despite what you say, and I doubt that will change. Kanto probably won't be the main region featured, but I'm sure it will be featured in that generation, or just to make Dark happy- that "engine" in some way. Felix
@Dark: Brushfire kinda says what I'm thinking. It's not set in stone by any stretch but think about this way; Gen II was on colour, III on GBA, IV 4 on the DS. If Gen V was on the DS, cycle broken. If they made it on the 3DS then they might have made those RS remakes you talked about, but seeing as how RSE have compatability with DPPltHGSS, I don't see that happening. Kanto probably won't be the main region featured, but I'm sure it will be featured in that generation, or just to make Dark happy- that "engine" in some way.[/quote'] Well yeah, Kanto pretty much has to be featured in every engine, because it is the first region and two generations have them. In Engines 1 and 2, you had games that included Kanto, and in Engines 3 and 4, you had remakes of the games in the stated Engines 1 and 2. But Gen V may not bring Kanto, because the next in line for remakes is Gen III (maybe), and unless Gen V itself includes Kanto, you're out of luck. @Dark: Brushfire kinda says what I'm thinking. They didn't want to halt programming, so they got started on BW, not realizing that the 3DS would be coming out later. It's not necessary that it has to be on a new console. :/
