Exact words from a ridiculous amount of people when Chomp was banned in gen 4.

And if you've ever played a Chomp in OU for some odd reason, you know how hard it truly is to counter.

I kind of agree with the Blaziken ban, because so far the only legitimate Pokemon that have Speed Boost are Yanmega and Ninjask. The latter is retarded, and the former is really easy to counter, even without Stealth Cocks.

But giving a mixed sweeper with offensive stats stronger than Infernape Speed Boost, making him faster than a ton of crap in one turn... that's tough to counter. If you can only counter something with priority, that means it's extremely situational if it'll sweep you are not.

Jellicent, Garchomp, Slowbro, Thundurus, Gliscor, Salamence, Gyarados, Tentacruel, Dragonite, Quagsire, Swampert. Weather Battles: Swift Swimmers(PO Server), Zapdos(Rain weakens fire, resists fighting, PO Server), Excadrill. Priority: Mach Punchers, Azumarill.

...I didn't think there was that many.

Err... yeah, I don't know enough about the metagame to counter anything you've said so far, so I'll shut up for now.

All I can say is that if a large enough riot is made, Smogon will put it back on Suspect. :/

If you are truly 1337 at pokemon, you can even "sweep" with walls. Also, be prepared to face these two teams online often, people "net-team" them all the time.

One of the many reasons why Garchomp should be Uber

Kero Kero Kero

One trick to "good" team building is look to inspiration from prior good teams, and figure out the strengths and weaknesses of said team, and try to improve upon it. Or, simply pick teams apart and mesh them together to your liking.

Okay, so I'm replaying Diamond and I have a Noctowl in my team.

This is an idea I have for a moveset.

Air Slash

Roost

Hypnosis

Reflect

However, I'm thinking of replacing a move for Extrasensory so I have two damaging moves. Any idea which one I should sacrifice?

If you are planning to port it over to Black, take out Hypnosis as it only has 60% accuracy and... kind of sucks. Hard.

If you want to keep it on Diamond, flip a coin and take out Hypnosis of heads and Reflect if tails. Air Slash and Roost are kind of mandatory, so you only have two removable options.

So I've decided to raise a team for use in wifi battles in white, and I need some help, seeing as how I'm pathetic in these kinds of things. ;.; Team decided so far (In no particular order):

Spr_5b_584.png

I'm not sure what nature to give it, I'm going to assume a +Sp. Atk nature is best.

Ice Beam

Toxic

?

?

Spr_5b_589.png

Once again, not sure what nature to use, probably Quite. I caught this mistake, meant Adamant.

Megahorn

Iron Head

?

?

479W.png

Same, though I'm using this regardless of what you say so don't try.

Hydro Pump

ThunderBolt

Will-O-Wisp

?

Spr_5b_142.png

Adamant/Naughty

Stone Edge

Aerial Ace(?)

Dragon Claw/Flamethrower

?

That's all I got so far, haven't caught/bread anything yet, so everything is still up for improvement.

You should probably get Flash cannon and Mirror coat. I find Mirror Coat useful when you battling fire types, and Flash Cannon is just generally powerful.

I think maybe you should teach him X-Scissor, because that's always a good choice. It's also physical, so it should do that much more damage.

*Doesn't Try*

Sorry, but I don't know much about aerodactyl. I've never trained one.

That's all I can see right now. Hopefully I don't just die. *shot*

OK, revision.

Spr_5b_584.png

Modest

Ice Beam

Toxic

Flash Cannon

Mirror Coat

Give him a choice scarf to let him out speed things. Side from that, he's move pool is really dry. Like he has nothing, so I'd try to drop him for something else. If you do plan on keeping him, that set is fine enough.

Spr_5b_589.png

Adamant.

Megahorn/X-Scissor

Iron Head

Aerial Ace

Double Team(?)

Like the ice cream, his move pool is also crap so you don't have much to work with. Drop Ace for Pursuit and evasion upping moves are banned from competitive play, so give him the Dance of Swords.

479W.png

Calm

Hydro Pump

ThunderBolt

Will-O-Wisp

Trick + Useless Item

Trick only works for choice sets, so give him pain split (if you can). If not, Reflect of Light Screen works well

Spr_5b_142.png

Adamant

Stone Edge

Aerial Ace

Dragon Claw

Iron Head

The lack of EQ makes me sad. Also, Flying is a horrible attacking type, so give him Stealth Rock (if you can). If not Taunt and Crunch and maybe even the Fang attacks work well.

Spr_5b_470.png

Impish

Leaf Blade/Energy Ball

X-Scissor

Swords Dance

Retaliate(?)

Leaf has crap Sp ATK, so no Energy Ball. Return will almost always be better then Retaliate. Synthesis is also a nice move if you don't mind working with only two attacking moves.

571.png

Quiet

Night Daze

Shadow Ball

Focus Blast

?

Let him breath fire

Any thoughts?

What do you think of this thing as a wall-breaker?

149s.gif

Dragonite @ Expert Belt

Multiscale

EVs: 56 Atk / 252 SAtk / 200 Spd

Mild (+SAtk -Def)

Thunder

Earthquake

Superpower

Hurricane

Any Suggestions?

So long as you use him on a rain team, that's solid.

I'll be using the icecreamconedudeguything, even knowing it's movepool is utter garbage. I'll have to hold out of CS for the time being so I can get at least 3 of them raised for the battle subway. More on the topic of white, what combination of pokemon would be best for said sandwich sh- I mean battle tower ripoff?

Do you think this Blissey is ok? I want one in my team, but I'm kind of having trouble with the moveset.

160px-242Blissey.png

Moveset:

Toxic

Protect

Softboiled

Psychic

Stats:

Atk - 34

Def - 60

(I know it sucks, which is why I'm trolling the BS for Irons.)

Sp. Atk - 130

Sp. Def - 241

Spe - 105

HP - 515

Ability:

Serene Grace

Nature:

Adament

Item:

Leftovers or Rocky Helmet

It's still only at level 77, so I've got a lot more training to go.

The basic Strategy is to take advantage of Blisseys high HP, by using Toxic then outlasting the opponent. It also knows psychic so that poison-types aren't immune to Blissey. It also does solid damage to fighting types.

Thanks, I plan to, at least until they ban Politoed or something. :3

I made this thing because Blissey is a pain.

*shocked* but Blissey is so helpful! Haven't you seen this episode?

How do you get your friend code in Black? I know it sounds n00bish, but I've forgotten.

You just get a WiFi connection set up and get your PalPad from someone in-game. It happens automatically and you are forced to get it, so don't worry. Then, just check your Key Items, and if you have a WiFi connection and have ever started the C-Gear before or have gotten a Mystery Gift, you'll have a Friend Code stored in there.

Adamant nature on a Blissey... that knows Psychic? wut

Adamant is a crap nature for Bliss. Like, one of the worse. If I'm not mistaken you want a Calm nature on it. Protect + Wish is a much better combo since you can also keep the rest of your team strong. Eve at 2x Psychic will do crap damage and you NEVER want to stay in on a fighting type. The -SpATK nature isn't helping.

I have a serious question: What do people think of taking a net-team, like from Smogon or otherwise, and modifying it to ones needs, such as EV spreads, movesets, items held, etc.?

Like for example, I am currently building a rain team, and I saw a brilliant team on Smogon, by Dezza Laa, so I decided to use a similar build, but I am messing around with the move pools. And I do not have Tornadus yet due to me having Pokemon White. Tailwind is banworthy, imo (only with Prankster because it itself becomes a +1 priority), because it's a sacrificial move that effectively sets up a priority sweep for the next Pokemon that comes out.
