burnpsy
Doesn't anyone play competitive matches with the actual games? -_____- People do. It's just harder to find a game.
Deathcore
You could always get a Ditto and mate like crazy. Yea, I'm still sad, but thanks to pokemon online's several active serve you can still use him. I could. Wait, I thought you couldn't find Ditto in Emerald. *goes to check* Oh, Ruby/Sapphire you can't find Ditto; Emerald, Desert Underpass. I'll think about it. I'm only at the second gym in Emerald, so I'm really not losing much restarting.
Dark
Simulators are much better for competitive battling; more people to battle with at any given time, less time taken to actually set up and get into a battle, infinitely easier to get IVs, EVs, Natures, Egg Moves, and Hidden Powers. Anyone who is a serious competitive battling uses a simulator because it is simply better than actual in-game battling over WiFi. But you still have some people like me that occasionally WiFi because it feels more tangible and real. :/
Tentacruel
Yeah, I can understand that. On a side-note, I'm thinking of attending a tourney, what are the chances of getting in one of them? (The official ones.)
Dark
Uhh... I wouldn't do official Nintendo tourneys. They force you to use the stupid Triple Battle mechanics. If you are itching with competitive fever, why not start a tourney on good ol' YCM? Y'know, a Single Battle tourney...

Dark
They still use doubles. >____> I could swear to god that people on Smogon were jabroniing that the VGC 2011 would be in Triples format.
burnpsy
I could swear to god that people on Smogon were jabroniing that the VGC 2011 would be in Triples format. I was pretty sure it was doubles with 5th gen stuff only. :S
Dark
You right, you right. It was my mistake; I blatantly assumed Nintendo would jump on the Triple Battle bandwagon and change the entire VGC format. Looking back on my post, it was a pretty stupid assumption. People were jabroniing because they can't use Dark Void Smeragle all of their favorite Pokemon, not because of Triple Battles. But still, Explosion was nerfed. Which sucks. Hard. Tentacruel
I'd have to train a better team first, but I might start a tourney. Also, this may sound really dumb, but it would probably be 4th Gen. =S
Flame Dragon
Plus he would probably get schooled. Someone should start a tourney on YCM... *hint hint*We tried a while ago. It failed. I'd have to train a better team first, but I might start a tourney. Also, this may sound really dumb, but it would probably be 4th Gen. =S4th gen would be easier for people since most people don't fully have teams in the 5th gen yet. Personally though I still say pokemon online tourney is the way to go. So, I did Subspace for 2:30 hours and so far got 1 character. I also got a bunch of stickers, trophies, and CDs. First CD being Bramble Blast made me SUPER happy Also, I now have a second FC: 2666-2100-4473

Personally though I still say pokemon online tourney is the way to go.My 4th gen team pwned, though its strategies would be outdated for the 5th gen metagame (weather is the new stealth rock). Also, with wifi, sticking to the same team for too long, or at least the same set-up, will often lead to people eventually figuring out what you have and finding a countermeasure. Dark
Yeah, that is another problem with WiFi. You only have access to a limited amount of Pokemon depending on how often you IV breed, EV train, or just flat-out trade. I know how to IV breed but it is still a pain, and I'd rather battle on a simulator where I know I am using legal stuff I could potentially get in-game, but probably never will due to time issues. Also, the WiFi metagame progresses so slowly, which is sometimes good because you can potentially find a "perfect team", but bad because there literally is no movement in the metagame. Tentacruel
My brother just got a 31 IV Ditto, so I'm very happy. And the reason I would prefer to have the tourney with the actual games is that it feels more tangible, more important, and more official. It's almost as if the simulators are non-canon, you know? Dark
Having the tourney be WiFi only isn't going to kill anyone, but a lot of us more experienced battlers would prefer it on Pokemon Online. If anyone is going through with this nostalgic 4th gen tourney, is it going to be hosted on a 4th gen or 5th gen game?
Tentacruel
4th gen game of course. I might actually host a PO tourney first, and then do the 4th gen thing later.
Jake the Sage
I have a question, if I can post here actually 83 Anybody got a Tornadus or Victini they want to get rid of? Deathcore
Anyone have Pokemon Online? I just installed it and playing around with it. Once I get everything set up, let me know if you'd like a battle.
Twig
Anyone have Pokemon Online? I just installed it and playing around with it. Once I get everything set up, let me know if you'd like a battle. PO or Smogon server? I happen to like the PO server just so I can use rain+swift swim. But seriously, I should start playing in the smogon server...
Dark
Does the PO server even have any bans? Or did they just nullify the Drizzle+Swift Swim ban?
Shrekstasy
So I got a Modest / Quick to flee Hydreigon with 252 SpAtk/252 Spe named Ghidorah, after the Godzilla monster it resembles - am I cool yet?

Dark
Side from the basic ubers, I don't think so. Meaning...? Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, Arceus, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, all that jazz? Just the Ubers from the last gens plus the few we added in Gen V?
