First Fanfic, Soul Duelists

[Overlord Lucan]

Hello! This is my first shot at making a fanfic, so it may be a bit rough. I think that it has a decent storyline (Though it may not come togther for as fast.) so I hope that you give enjoy my first and admitibley rough fanfic.

Name: John Yeksti

Age: 14

Apperance: Brown somewhat wild hair, Brown eyes, he wears a grey jacket and black sweat pants. Normally wears Tennis Shoes.

Personality: Calmish, Weary, Not that sure of his abilites, Doesn't like younger kids, at points he can be sarcastic.

Background: John grew up in L.A., in a small apartment with his mom. He spent most of his time walking in the city and wandering the streets. He learned to duel when he was nine, quit it after a year, and din't restart until he found his cards under his bed a year later. John has never been outside of L.A. due to the fact that he and his mom are somewhat poor. Close Friends with Amy.

Name: Amy Lander

Age: 13

Apperance: Her hair is a Lighter shade of Brown, she wears it long , she wears a blue mini skirt and black jeans.

Personality: Optimistic, Sure of Herself, Can't sit still, She doesn't get angry often but she can get very angry, likes John.

Background: Amy and her father live next to John in their Apartment, she met John on the first day that she and her father moved, which was when she was 7. She started dueling at age 9 when John taught her how to play. She used to live on a Farm before a fire burned it down and Amy and her Father were forced to move to L.A. (Her mother was killed in the fire), she still isn't quite used to big city life.

This is it! John thought as he stared up at the tall building, the tall building happened to be where John pinned his hopes and his dreams. John gulped, they had high expectations here. Will I be good enough to win? John wondered. The building he was staring at was one of the many Kaiba Domes that had opened around the world. Though John knew that it was much smaller then the original. On the door hung a poster announcing the tournament that was going on today that was the reason why John was here. On the poster it showed a Duel Disk and above the duel disk was the words “Dragon Tournament today!” Everyone knew what a “Dragon Tournament” was; it was the only way to get into Duel Academy. While a few years ago you could have gotten in just by passing the Duel Academy Entry Exam, the academy had become much more exclusive. Now it was only for the best of the best. John had done what was necessary to enter; he had won three official Kaiba Dome tournaments as was the minimum amount of tournaments.

 

But this is a whole new league! John thought. “HEY JOHN!” called a familiar voice. “Hey Amy” John replied if a bit more sullenly. “What’s wrong,” Asked Amy “you’ve been more and more gloomy lately.” “It’s nothing, I was just thinking.” John said. “Have you signed in yet?” She inquired. “No that’s where I’m going.” John said flatly. “Better hurry, the tournament is starting in an hour, and they said it takes that long to sort the brackets.” “Right I guess I’m going.” “See you in there!” Amy yelled as she ran toward the building.

 

John walked up to a tall man in a black suit holding a clipboard. “Excuse me,” said John “I’m here for the tournament.” “What a surprise.” Said the tall man in a bored way that made it seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else. “What’s your name?” “John Yeksti.” John said feeling uncomfortable with how bored and detached he seemed. “Right, sign here.” John did as instructed “Through the door take a left then up the stairs.” “Ok.” John dashed through the door hanged a left and ran straight into something hard. “Hey, watch where you’re going!” Yelled a kid, maybe three or four years younger then John. “Sorry kid” John said as he picked himself up and stepped around him. “Kid, I’ll have you know I’m state champ three years running!” He squawked after John, but he was to busy to listen, as he dashed up the stairs. As he reached the top of the stairs he saw a man a few inches taller then he was with black hair and a tight grin on his face, waiting for him. “Are you here for the tournament?” He asked. “Yeah.” John said. “Good, welcome to your first trial.” He said as he raised his left arm, which held a duel disk. “It’s time to duel!”

 

Duel One

“I’ll go first,” said the man “I’ll start off by summoning my ‘Archfiend Soldier’ (Dark, Fiend, Atk 1900, Def 1500) in attack mode, and then I’ll set two cards face-down, and end my turn.” “My turn then,” said John “First I summon my ‘Luster Dragon’ ((Wind, Dragon, Atk 1900, Def 1400) and then I equip him with my ‘Sword of the Deep-Seated’ so his attack is increased by 500, go ‘Luster Dragon’ attack!” “I don’t think so,” the man said smirking “Reveal Trap card ‘Sakuretsu Armor’ it destroys your attacking monster.” “Fine, but my ‘Sword of the Deep Seated’ returns to the top of my deck.” He’s pretty good. John thought gritting his teeth. “My turn, I activate my ‘Monster Reborn’ to summon back your ‘Luster Dragon’ in attack mode.” John watched as his beautiful blue dragon was summoned against him. “Next I summon my ‘Gene-Warped Warwolf’(Level 4, Earth, Beast-Warrior, Atk 2000 Def 100) in attack mode!” John watched as an ugly, big, furry, and white beast in the shape of a human came up on the man’s side of the field. “Attack all three of you!” Yelled the man.(Johns LP: 1200 The mans: 8000) “My turn! I activate my ‘Foolish Burial’ now I get to send one card from my deck to the grave! And I chose my ‘Buster Blader’, next I activate monster reborn to summon him back (Earth, Warrior, Level 7, Atk 2600, Def 2300) and he gains 500 points for every dragon on your field and graveyard. Go attack his ‘Archfiend Soldier’ (John Lp 1200 Man 6800) next I activate my ‘Time Manipulation’ so by sacrificing half my Life points and discarding a card I can go back to the beginning of my turn!” John smiled “So I draw, now ‘Buster Blader’ attack ‘Gene-Warped Warwolf’ (John LP 600 hand 3 Man LP 5700 hand 4) Next I activate my ‘High Stakes’ spell card, so here’s how it works, We flip a coin, if I get it right I return two cards from my grave to my hand, but if I get it wrong I discard my whole hand and lose 1000 Life points.” “You’re taking a pretty big gamble kid.” Said the man smiling. “That’s why they call it high stakes.” “Just flip already, I want to hurry up and win.” “Whatever you say.” John said smoothly “I call Tails,” the large silver holographic coin flipped in the air and then landed.
