ŞťřïЖЄѓ™
Opacity=Epic Fail.Mode(e.g. Dodge,Burn,Screen,Multiply)=Awesome Opacity still gives the background of the other picture which makes it epic fail whereas using a mode like Dodge or Burn, Screen or Multiply,it is Awesome and your background should be removed or when you change the opacity with a mode on the background should dissapear then. You might really need to experiment with GIMP a lot more, than you know that when somebody says use Map Object and say Don't Tick Transparent Background, that will make your brain know to post in your next post that you SHOULD tick Transparent Background so if they wanted to change the background or experiment with it in Adobe Photoshop it makes it easier if they use transparency.
