apologies are good but don't make a whole new topic for them, that's one way to cut down on spamming..

Spam is considered off topic comments, so stay on topic. Look at the threads title, and only make comments about that topic. Do not post cards where they don't belong. Write out longer comments so others understand your comment better. Do not post in the same thread again just after you have finished posting again unless someone else has posted after you. Do not make lots and lots of threads, like more than 2 contest threads or lots of singe card threads. Another good way to wipe your bad spamming rep is to tell others off when they do this. It makes them look bad, and you look helpful.

what he said. just try to stay on topic. if you're not sure if your new threads are spam, don't make any threads for a while and watch everyone else's. you'll learn what's acceptible and what's not. :)
