Felix
Is Pokemon educational? Explain your view. I am talking about the game. You should read more. Anyway I wouldn't say educational' date=' it's more like a brain gym. If you're into all the calculations then it can get pretty complicated. What do you mean by education, do you just mean learning or [i']learning[/i] as in English and Maths?
Dark
As in, probability, chances, common sense, etc. Most of competitive battling revolves around math, so you are learning somewhat.

Raelen
HA! Educational?? No, Pokemon is not educational.Unless your taking about the vital skills needed when I grow up to catch Pokemon.No. Otherwise, we'd just stay home from school playing video games. (I wish...) Felix
This is the point I was making. Education is just learning and your learning about Pokemon and strategem, thus education.

Spire
No, it is not. What does it really teach you? Sure it is a lesson that Magikarp pwns all, however that won't help you in real life. It is just a game that is made for fun.
MarbleZone
Last night I had my Gyarados Bite the life out of a Pichu. It felt extremely educational. See where I'm getting at? :PPoint is, a game based around training your pets to murder other people's is hardly pedagogical, but tons of fun. You aren't learning anything important you're just learning period. Education is learning and when you're playing Pokemon you’re learning about pointless $h!t that will never benefit you in any situation other than the unlikely possibility you'll be in an IRL Pokemon battle. As my final b!tch slap point. If you're talking about how pointless Pokemon is, then compare that to the waste of time that Algebra is, in what possible situation are you ever going to need simultaneous equations for:? Dark
If you don't understand the amount of probability that goes into battling, you are very mistaken. Flamethrower has a 10% burn chance. With Serene Grace, it doubles to 20%. So 1/5 of the time, the odds are in your favor. A Jolteons Shock Wave against Gyarados does between 94% and 100%. This means you are certain to get a 2HKO, if not a OHKO. Seismic Toss will always do 100 Damage, so if you have 404 HP, you can make substitutes that cannot be broken by SToss. Paralyzation lets you only attack 75% of the time. Confusion lets you only 50% of the time. Combined, you can only attack 3/8 of the time. Tri Attack has a 20% chance to inflict status. That means 6.666% of the time you will be frozen, 6.666% of the time you will be burned and 6.666% of the time you will be paralyzed. Zap Cannon has 50% accuracy and max 8 PP. That means Zap Cannon should hit 4 times out of 8.
Felix
And even then it's faulty, you have to be able to think on your feet and predict your opponent's moves. Once I battled a guy who could have beaten me but due to a 2/5 successful hit on my Blissy with Foucus Blast he was forced to do nothing else but suicide and with one Poke left I won. You have to learn and understand a lot of stuff to be able to get good.
Dark
Not just math is involved, common sense is involved as well. But the common sense just hones your ability, it wouldn't really help to know that Poison-Type moves do not affect Steel-Types.

Zeroshot
It's actually a pretty good stratiegic game. Think about it, you have a Charizard out.Your opponent calls out a BlastoiseYou know Charizard only has FIRE moves because you suck and only teach it FIRE moves.I don't know about you, but my first intention is to call out the Venusaur I have hanging around in my party. Flame Dragon
If you play it as a simple game, no it isn't educational. For those that play competitively it is a bit since their is a lot of math here.
