well, i also have a pistol, a pellet gun, and a paintball gun, if i was sucked in with those weapons, and maybe if i had a bazuka, would i survive then, most likely i would

You'll certainly get the rocket launcher in Doom 3, don't know if you can use it with only one arm though

I could survive Resident Evil (hooray for Zombie Paranoia!) alnd maybe Doom (Playing it since I was 6 or 7), but I would be reduced to a ball of quivering cowardice in Silent Hill and Fatal Frame (I've never actually finished either of those).

by then you'd have long since acquired a shotgun by Doom 3's 2nd level (in which case that's all you really need for the next dozen levels or so, except for boss fights)

But if I get swarmed from all sides then I doubt blowing a couple of them up will really help me, since they'll be gnawing on my brains before I even get to refill the ammo.

There's not that much swarming in Doom. The Archvilles can't summon THAT many demons all at once
