WTF. I've just been checking the best Hippowdon for my team then my eyes came across Stockpileopotamus. Why doesnt he have ANY Atk Ev's? And the Adamant nature?

I think stockpilopotamus should be

 

(same moveset) (Same Item) Impish/Adamant

 

EV's: 252 Sp.D, 60 DEF, 192 HP, or invest some from DEF to ATK.

 

Please correct me if you find reason why this remake of stockpilopotamus is a bad idea

Don't have Platinum. I have Diamond.

 

ATK isn't needed as this is more of a Roar/Staller, and you'd need DEF EVs less, and more HP and SpD because of Wdon's low SpD.

Stockpile Hippowdon:? I can't see it being very good. Dark's right though, you're trying to turn it into an offensive Pokemon which Hippowdon just isn't.

Hippowdon is suppose to act like a wall, there shouldn't be any reason why it needs to invest into attack. All I see in that remake is that you took away from the HP and added it to defense. I think it is a good idea to have high er HP.

Actually, it's somewhat viable when you count in Slack Off. It definatley HAS the defenses to get +1 DEF and +1 SpD, and after +2 DEF and +2 SpD, not many things can even 3HKO it at full health. The only problem is crits and PHazers.

 

It also sets up Sandstorm for residual damage.

But with full EV's it can get to 323 ATK without the nature boost, and with the impish nature after 1 stockpile with my EVS (which have been edited thanks to the helpful criticism xD) can give it a whopping 480 DEF and a 365 Sp.D xD (or therabouts)

EDIT: Oh cr@p hold on, I think my remake is screwed, Seeing as I don't know what EV's to remove for moar ATK

@ J123: Giving it too many ATK EVs won't help in the long run, as so many Pokemon are immune to Earthquake in OU.

I suppose... Toxic/EQ, Roar, Slack Off, Stockpile + residual damge from a Forry set up and SS could really eat away at a team. But overall I'd much rather use a different Hippowdon to that one.

 

@J123: If your taking away it's bulk to add offense you'll die way too quickly, just like LO Suicune.

Your not supposed to be taking massive chunks with EQ, it's more like a filler than anything. Stalling doesn't involve big hitting moves, it's staying alive for ages while your opponent dies of old age. But bear in mind it's STAB. I'm fairly sure that that would be an equivilant of a 100 BP move being fired from 390 ATK.

I don't really understand STAB, does the ATK stat boost by 1.5 during the ATK or the 100 damage to 150?

oWait I read what you said properly so it boosts the stat xD Nice That could deal some pretty good damage from a pokemon thats specializes in defenses xD

It's the same thing.

 

STAB literally multiplies the move’s power by 1.5 but that would also be an equivalent of increasing its attacking stat by 1.5 or even just the damage done to the opponent *1.5 :/ Get it now?

Oh, so no matter what they still take the same damage? I never really took the time out to check how much damage it would do

@J123: Not screwed but you should deffinitely get some Special Attackers in there. My first proper team only had a Starmie to dish out damage on the Special Spectrum and it did ok (Brelooms huge hurt it could put down carried it through) but it makes sense to have half your team able to use Special Attacks.

TBQH, running more than 1 special attacker (unless another one would be a ScarfTran, or a ScarfMie) is a bad idea because Blissey walls things to a point where your special attacker would be useless.

 

But then it also boils down to if you have anything to take down Blissey, like Infernape.
