Subsitute is a waste on opponents that can't think for them selves (use it if you want but Jolteon isn't bulky enough to make it work in game), Roar just shuffles your opponent around so you can get to one that's easier to pwn. If you don't want it then use Hidden Power, w/e the type is. That or some status.

How are you able to figure out what type Hidden Power is going to be in Platinum?

Check Serebii, there is some guy in Battle Frontier that tells you HP type, but not power.

Well if you know what your IVS are it's easy but seeing as how you won't; just battle a few Pokemon and test what's SE and NVE.

Alright, Jolteon and Infernape out of the way. But what about Staraptor? LV45: Fly, Wing Attack, Close Combat, Take Down.

Arial Ace (if you don't have BB), CC, Take Down, Fly/Quick Attack/U-Turn. Mix and match to your liking.

Well. The problems are with HM moves. I have 3 HM Slaves at the moment: Bibarel, Geodude, Starly(for defog).

Teach Starly Fly and go with BB, CC, Take Down, U Turn.

Would there be any way to thin down my HM Slaves right now? Or should I wait till after the Elite Four.

After E4 you'll be making a real team which means you don't need them. All Slaves are in games are death fodder so that you have a turn to revive a Pokemon. Salamence and Golduck have the potential to carry all 8 between them though.

I'm having a re-rematch against J123. I'll be redesigning my team. I was going to start work on my Alakazam... but it's already IVd and EVd, so I just need to lay the moveset down.

That's the remake of my old club. It was full of spam before(and we didn't have enough people to eat it xD) so I remade it. Join if you want.

I got 1-0'd by J123. In the end, a haxy SpD drop from Flash Cannon from a +6 Jirachi killed my Blissey. Oh well, good game. I thought I had it.

I would really like to know how he went from n00b to talented battler in a couple of days:/

Actually, I think he ran out of Flash Cannon PP, because he is using TBolt now. I just might win this!

 

EDIT: NVM, he got another SpD drop. I Flamethrowered him (when he was without a Sub) 4 times and he never got burned.

In the end, Parahax, SpD Drops, and burns not coming when they were supposed to brought me down.

 

EDIT: It WAS a 1-0, so it was pretty close.

 

EDIT 2: 3500th post.

 

EDIT 3: I just realized a stupid, blatant mistake inwhich I could have won. His Jirachi used TBolt to kill my Pokemon X. And I sent in Heatran after that. And I had second thoughts about attacking, because I thought his Jirachi was scarfed. I didn't see Sub, CM or FC before that. So I switched out while he switched out. If I had attacked... I just realized, he would have switched weather I attacked or not.

Well, sh!t happens. Your YCM win average is still high so no big deal.

I'm not mad, or sad in the slightest. As long as my wins > losses, I'm fine. =D

 

But what makes me sad is that I wasn't prepared for a Sub/CM Jirachi. I did have PHazers with me, but that Jirachi was his last Poke. I need to find a Hazer with a base speed > 100. GO FELIX, GO!

Today's my last day on YCM... until Monday or Tuesday. I am leaving @ 6 PM EST to go to north Mass. to visit some relatives, maybe an amusement park if I beg enough, and I'll be back late Monday / early Tuesday. So I'm gonna make my last... 2 hours on YCM the "best". =D
