Mother/Earthbound Series discussion

This place has a real lack of Mother 3, or Mother series in general.

 

Have you played any of the Mother/Earthbound games? If so, discuss their greatness.

 

Mother 3 is awesome as hell. Could probably be the best RPG I've ever played. But Masked Man 1 is a pain to beat. Not to mention he has a rediculous song to combo to.

I never played any of them but my one friends say 3 is great and coming from him that is saying something. I need to see if he can copy it over to my computer.

 

Does anyone think we'll get Mother 2 (Earthbound) on the VC?

2) Not anytime soon, IMO. Nintendo was dissatisfied with their sales when originally released here, where it sold like Okami-flavored hotcakes. It's what you would call for that time "the greatest game that no one played."

1) What do you think i'm hinting at? I know you have the flash drive, and I know you can copy it over the same way you did worms.

2) True, but with Ness and Lucas both in Brawl the odds of Mother 2 coming to VC in america aren't so bad.

2) That's for Japanese. As in the Japanese are getting the game, not the Americans.

Mother 3 was originally supposed to be Earthbound for N64. That was SUPPOSED to be a 3d game, but it was cancelled and moved to the GBA. Now, I dunno about how good Earthbound 64 would have been, but I do know that they got it right on the GBA.

One of my brothers friends have played Earthbound and Mother 3 (downloaded it on an... emulator? or something. Don't really know what they're called) and I've seen him play some Mother 3. I've heard lines like:

Something about an Absolutely Safe Capsule.

"We must protect Mani Mani."

One of my brothers friends have played Earthbound and Mother 3 (downloaded it on an... emulator? or something. Don't really know what they're called) and I've seen him play some Mother 3. I've heard lines like:

Something about an Absolutely Safe Capsule.

"We must protect Mani Mani."

[spoiler=WARNING! SPOILERS!]Not entirely sure aboue Giygas, since I never played Earthbound. I can only assume that is after Porky (or Pokey, for anyone who calls him that) shuts off the Devil's Machine (or it could be during the fight against Porky as well). Giygas is an alien (well, at that point, he's just evil energy I believe), so most, if not all of his attacks are incomprehensible. Just like in Mother (Earthbound Zero).

 

The Absolutely Safe Capsule was supposed to be Porky's ace-in-the-hole in Mother 3, as it is somehow a cheat code within itself by being litterally invunerable. BUT, Dr. Andonuts, the dude who built it, rigged it so that once Porky steps inside, nothing can ever enter OR exit the capsule. Meaning that when Porky uses it, he's trapped in there for life. Ah, Andonuts. You friggin' genius.

 

Not exactly sure about Mani Mani either, since it is also Earthbound. BUT, IIRC, the Mani Mani was a statue or something that was idolized by the Happy Happy Cult or something like that, of which Porky and his dad were part of for some reason. Once Ness destroys Mani Mani, the Cult is disbanded.

Since we had been talking about Earthbound coming to VC, I think I should share this.

From what I read their are to many legal problems with the games, and to bring it to the VC a lot of changes would be made, and NCL will not make that number of edits needed to bring the game to VC.

NCL wasn't playing ball. For reasons we can only guess, the head honchos back in Japan were refusing to let NoA modify the game prior to release.

 

So sorry to say, we won't be getting Earthbound on the VC.

 

 

But since I've bumped this, lets talk about a happy topic.

 

Mother 3 is win. I already gotten up to Chapter 5, and it is just so much fun to play.

 

Every one must play this.

Earthbound Zero and Earthbound are teh big win! Shame, I can't find a good ROM for mother 3.
