This is my intro to the Short Story. Evaluate and criticize please. *blank* is the name of one of the brothers. I thought I'd leave that up to Gamesmaster or someone else.

[spoiler=More than a War Prologue]The walk up to his Father’s chambers, through the coarse limestone hallways, was the longest of his life. He was not ready to face the harsh truths that may be placed upon his shoulders within the next few minutes. The family consultant wandered out into the hallway, his expression grim and set. “How is he?”

“He is failing my lord,” the doctor replied, “Time is short. I will leave you and your brother for the moment. He wishes to speak with you alone.”

*blank* laboriously entered his Father’s rooms, still not ready for what lay in the silk, four-poster bed.

“*blank*... My son...” his Father coughed and wheezed, “Come... sit by your brother...”

He sat down and looked at his brother’s chalk white face. They could both sense the same chill running down the others’ spine.

“My sons... I can feel the shapeless claw of death reaching out for me,” he gasped, “In my final moments... I bequeath to each of you half of my kingdom... Lead and guard them well, they are our family’s legacy...”

As their Father finished speaking, his face contorted with pain for a split second before exhaling a large sigh and becoming blank.

“He’s dead...”

[spoiler=My Contribution]

It was a wet, roaring, and otherwise rainy day. The water went down in torrents onto the mud strewn ground below and bombarded any being that dared to step out of the shelter of it's residential trees and houses. The rain splashed down as ice cold droplets that smeared and scattered on the traveler's dark brown leather cloth. Underneath was a layer of fine linen covering his thin, almost weedy chest. It was a dark brown color and was overlapped by yet another layer of black leather. The water was quickly smothering his fine clothes and quickly receding to his chestnut colored hair by seeping through the cloak. This uncomfortable ordeal was shared by three companions beside him, of there is little time to describe.

Finally out of the blue torrential rain broke out a large, bright grey castle whose ramparts rose above the dark storm clouds like a sentinel in the darkness. Reigning his horse, the rider quickly trotted toward the castle.

Following this could be your contribution, Queen-Dragoon.

okay here is everything i have so far

[spoiler= what i have so far...] THE KINGDOM OF TEARS

A man suddenly burst into the princes room and shouts

"Fredrick, Devlin come quick your father lies on his death bed and his little time to live!"

"No father I must reach him soon. !" Fredrick shouts as he runs down the hall.

Devlin follows behind at a much slower and more casual pace and he thinks to himself

"Perfect my plan is coming along perfectly."

Their father looks very pale and thin all the life has left his eyes. He holds Fredrick's hand and says

" My sons as you know I have little time to live and I want you Fredrick to take the east half of my kingdom and Devlin you may rule the west half." after he said this he closed his eyes and his chest moved no more.

"Father! NO! Why did you leave us here alone?" Fredrick says with tears streaming from his face. " Devlin where are you going?"

"To spread the news of his death" Devlin says coldly as if his own fathers death did not phase him. And with theta he swept out of the room.

I have more but I didn't want to take up a lot of room or cause the tl:dr syndrome

I was just wondering, who did you intend his three companions to be (roughly at least)? Because in my part the Brother was alone.

Those are just random escorts for the brother that will leave him when the scene is done.
