remember' date=' when the archville is summoning a monster, it can't defend itself

[b']In the older games, the speed in which it could revive the enemies was quite short. You didn't get much time to work with[/b]

And the plasma gun is useful again every opponent in Doom 3 except the Macubus. It will shred Archvilles and Revenants with ease.

Plasma Gun works wonders against small to medium enemies. Larger ones just take too many shots and require better firepower.

As for the homing rockets, it's called taking a sharp 90 degree turn when the rockets get close so they miss you

Easier said than done in the older games. Sometimes, they chase you around corners. It's not very often, though. It would've been nice if you could shoot the rockets out of the air or something like that.

yeah well it's balanced in Doom 3: the stronger the demon it has to summon, the longer it takes for it to

the plasma gun is far more abundant in ammunition now, so it's far more practical

Shooting the rockets out of the air? This is EXACTLY the reason why you always use the plasma gun against the Revanent. Their rockets can be destroyed in flight now, and plasma rounds DO have the largest physical size

[b']Wish that was the case in the other games. The only good thing is that an Archvile cannot revive a Cyberdemon or a Spider Mastermind.[/b]

In the other games, the pistol and shotgun had far more ammo available. You might have found a Cell Pack every once in a while; you only really found them in abundance in a secret area

THANK GOD! It's nice to know that they can be shot down now. If you could do that with the Cyberdemon's rockets, that would be even better.

The Imps' fireballs, Hellknights fireballs, Revanent's rockets, Mancubus's rockets, and even the bosses projectiles of all types can be destroyed in mid-air now

I like the one on SNES.

That was just a shorter version of the PC game. It was missing 5 levels, if I remember right (1 in Episode 1, 2 in Episode 2, and 2 in Episode 3). Also, you could only access Episode 2 on 'Hurt me Plenty' or higher and Episode 3 on 'Ultra Violence' or higher - unlike the PC where you could pick any episode on any difficulty. The coolest thing about the game was the red cartidge.

why is the color so important to you?

It's not' date=' really. It was just cool to mention. Makes it stand out more. The graphic quality of the Super NES game wasn't all that great, but it was still good for its time and the capabilities of the system itself.

and that's another reason for playing Doom 3: the graphics. I can't wait to see what they'll put in Doom 4

Personally I felt the Cyberdemon too easy in Doom 3. He can't even run' date=' which means it very easy to get away from him and charge up the soul cube

[/quote']

He couldn't run in the other games. Its size doesn't allow it that kind of mobility without aid. Besides, why would you want the thing to be able to move faster? Now, it would make more sense if it had some kind of teleportation device built into it that could allow it faster movement. However, that would make them a bigger pain then they already were.

It only took ONE hit from the Soul Cube to destroy the Cyberdemon in Doom 3, right? I think it would've made the fight much better if it had to be hit THREE times with it to drop it since it was the last boss and all.

Hard to say.

The Cyberdemon was easier to catch up to and attack with the cube, but 1 hit at point blank range means instant death, not to mention running around the hellgate sometimes the Imps and Maggots catch up to you to attack you from behind and you have to keep running or risk hit by the Cyberdemon's rockets.

The Maledict is vulnerable to regular weaponry, but its fires like 10 times as many trajectories as the Cyberdemon (with almost as much each per hit)

Yikes. I'd rather deal with TWO Cyberdemons than the Maledict from how you put it.

Sounds like a cross between a Cyberdemon (damage-wise) and a Mancubus (firepower-wise).

At least you only have to deal with ONE of each in their respective games as opposed to multiples in the others (Doom 2, Doom 64, and Final Doom)

well, remember one other important thing: the soul cube restores health equal to the amount the enemy has when you hit him with it.

Since it does 1000 damage, the moment you hit the Cyberdemon with it, your health will return to 100% immediately (along with any imps you hit if at full strength, since their health is at 130)

But with the hellstone against the Maledict, once the health is lost, you can't replenish it

The Soul Cube sounds a bit broken after hearing that. It's a nice touch since the boss is so powerful, but still. Then again, you have to kill enemies to charge it and you can take quite a beating in the process.

I gather that it's a straight 1-on-1 fight against Maledict? If so, then it's more understandable that you cannot replenish health.

Doom 3 has the ONLY weapon that can recover health upon hitting. If we had a weapon like that in the others, maybe we could actually survive Nightmare Mode...

99% of the time yes against the Maledict. Over the course of the fighting you DO have to fight like 8 lost souls or something

Lost Souls aren't as big a deal to fight as opposed to Imps and Maggots. They don't take as many bullets to drop.

Although, I'm guessing that you could use the Grabber to throw a Lost Soul at Maledict to do some serious damage?
