Saturn of Elemia
Please. Few times I ever stand still unless there's absolutely no room to manuver to' date=' and that's relatively rare, unless of course I want to fight the enemy on my own terms that way[/quote'] There is good news. It's RARE that you'll ever find an Arachnotron in a narrow or enclosed area where you cannot circle around it. The bad news is that, despite their size, they can turn pretty fast. If they see you, good luck trying to divert their attention. You'll almost always find them in groups of 2 or more - and usually accompanied with other enemies as well. ragnarok1945
oh that's nothing new. And that's something changed in Doom 3. The larger the enemy, the slower and clumsier he is, that's why only boss enemies can actually RUN, and even then it's not very fast

It can't get around very fast; only its turning ability is fast. The only enemies that could 'run' in the older games were Pinky, Revenants, and Archviles. Everything else was pretty slow moving... ~Emo~
When is doom 4 coming out? Also, I hate the revants in doom 3. There the ones that kill me the most.
ragnarok1945
well, I never knew how fast the bosses can turn, and mainly because their attacks to too much damage to get in close. I think I only got in close once on the easiest difficulty, but I killed the boss too fast, before I was able to see how fast he could turn
~Emo~
I liek the DB shotgun in doom3 part 2. Also, wtf is with those walking skeleton zombies.
ragnarok1945
I liek the DB shotgun in doom3 part 2. Also' date=' wtf is with those walking skeleton zombies.[/quote'] That double barrel shotgun isn't as effective as you think. Only one shot per clip. That is why 90% of the time, I still relied on the single barreled one

He cheats to much.
ragnarok1945
yeah, but one shot only, then reload. And if you played ROE enough, you'd know there's usually more than 1 enemy around, and the reload time is too slow for that
Saturn of Elemia
That's why I loved circle strafing (which I learned in Doom 64). Use the reload time for your DS to get behind the enemy and get another round off.

ragnarok1945
this is exactly the reason why you lure them into different hallways trap them in the corner so they can't jump, and that's it

ragnarok1945
assuming you have enough ammo. Remember, you don't get the plasma gun until like the last 1/3 of the game or something
~Emo~
actually you find it pretty early. I mostly use the pistol/flashlight combo.
Saturn of Elemia
In the original Doom, you didn't get the Plasma Rifle until the second episode.
ragnarok1945
hey, that's much better than Doom 3, you don't get it until 1/4 of the way through the game, and even later in the expansion

ragnarok1945
well no one ever said games have to follow the pattern where the final boss must be the most powerful one. If you had ever played Quake 4 (using the same engine and all), the final boss is actually the easiest.
Saturn of Elemia
If you want a difficult boss from the Doom series, try fighting against the Demon Overlord (not sure of the exact name) from Doom 2 and Final Doom. You have to hit a switch to get a platform to rise high enough, then you gotta fire rockets into the hole in its head at the RIGHT time. The bad part is that the boss fires off boxes that contain enemies - from Zombies to Barons of Hell. It gets crazy quickly. Also, you die instantly if you touch a box. ragnarok1945
interesting. None of the 8 bosses in Doom 3 and ROE even come close to that. In fact, at least 3 of them are so easy they're nothing more than just a REALLY strong regular enemy who is REALLY stupid in attacks
Saturn of Elemia
In the other Doom games (original, 2, Final, and 64), there are only FOUR bosses: Cyberdemon (original, 2, Final, and 64)Spider Mastermind (original, 2, and Final)Demon Overlord (2 and Final)Demon Queen (64 only)
