Wow kira ... you must read minds. I'm actually writing a huge paper about this very thing. It shows that the gods of various mythologies did exist' date=' but weren't THE GOD. They were in fact Angels. The early christians and such really messed up by attacking them. They should of realized the connections.

ie: Hermes ... messenger of Gods ... wing = sounds a lot like an angel right

Ares ... depicted as fire and glow of war, brutal yet loving, instances of merciless, warrior = sounds like one of the Archangels.

It's actually quiet interesting.

I see logic behind this. But the "gods" are from one culture's point of view. The "angels" are from another culture's point of view. The gods are also from greek/roman mythology not the early christians. that's the one thing you have wrong about that. the greek/romans were not the early christians.

No ... i didn't mean that. I mean misidentified. They were seen as "gods" aka divine. Angels are divine. There is a branch of theological studies that says you can't contemplate the absolute God so you contemplate him through his lessers. So the greeks see their gods in a way to see the main GOD. I never say they were christians. I merely am saying that for example ...

Ares (Greco-Roman mythos) and Uriel (Judeo-Christian-Islamic mythos) refer to the same entity.

- see

;)

If they originally though they were the same the christians wouldn't have had such a problem with them. So they didn't realize they were the same. And in the bible ... god always say "no gods before me". Which means there are other divinities, yet God is the main one. The highest. The others are divine ... but in the sense of angels.

Either way ... got an A (and it was my final)

well yah. the romans eventually converted and became the center ground for Christianity. BUT ... the mythos was born far before Rome. And especially far before the christian conversion. And in the Ares -> Uriel example ... documentation of Uriel comes far before the Christians. Supposedly he's the angel that drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden. As well as the Angel who checked the doorposts in Exodus for the final plague.
