Official Super Smash Series Discussion Thread

1) Ganandorf is terrible

2) The tier list is based off of copetitive win records

3) There is already a thread for Friend Codes

1) I like G'Dorf' date=' I play him, I don't see him as terrible, he's one of my best.

2) That tier does exist, I realize that, but I don't think it will effect anything. I hear tier list, I assume it's a ranking system which dictates which character will win in a fight if there is equal skill amongst both players.

3) Really? I didn't see one here, maybe it was somewhere else. Well I made my own.

The Tier List doesn't neccessarily dictate usage. It also doesn't dictate the effectiveness of characters against each other when used by players of equal skill. The tier list is a written manifestation of the in-game actuall effectiveness of one character against another between a battle of people of equal skill.

The definition you gave makes the Tier List arbitrary.

The Tier List is in actually based entirely upon moveset match-ups in real gaming situations, and thus not arbitrary, but dictated by the game itself.

I really shouldn't get involved in these arguments. It's in my nature to choose a side. I don't mind if you believe in one. I know my definition is off, one reason why I shouldn't be arguing. I don't believe in the tier because I believe all characters are equal, and after that point I try and ignore anything else. So for the sake of it, I concede to your idea. I can't argue you.

THERE IS ALREADY A FC EXCHANGE THREAD!!!!

Sorry' date=' but please, instead of complaining about lack of a thread, either find one, or make one.

Which Star Fox character is the best?

[/quote']

Falco is the best, due to chain grabs, a better DAir, and better results. But in Melee Fox is better. Because the tier list says so.

Also, I didn't see a thread.

I don't think Ganondorf is good, in fact I question why he's lower than Falcon. Falcon has the Knee >.>

Ganondorf is really great in HRC, but bad in fights. The only redeeming quality is his Warlock Punch which starts killing at REALLY low percentages. Otherwise, he's slow, has bad recovery, has no real way of racking up damage, and his only ways of approaching people fast are easily countered.

I liked the game but it's horrendously overrated (0MG SSBB IS LIEK TEH BEST GAME EVAR).

Wrong. SSBB is the best Smash game ever.

1) Ganandorf is terrible

Opinion.

2) The tier list is based off of copetitive win records

Which means it is useless. It is also based off combos and speed and power and all those tiny details that go into this game.

3) There is already a thread for Friend Codes

Yeah. You mean the one in Clubs? Made by Flame Dragon. Use his thread' date=' not make a new one that is almost the exact same.[/b']

Oh, in an above post i saw: Which is better Lucas or Ness?

Well that depends on the player.

Lucas Vs. Ness

I'm going to start off with saying they are both great characters.

They each have about the same strength, speed and recovery.

Lucas' UPSpecial is slower than Ness', but more acurate. Their recoveries also differ in a small manner, Lucas delivers several tiny shocks which leads to great damage, while Ness is just 1 hit with a major kick and knock back.

Pk Fire is different too. Ness' Pk Fire can be spammed easily then can follow up with some other good move.

(Bat, PK Cross or Pk Thunder bomb) Lucas' on the other hand fires straight forward whether he is on the ground or in the air, it has a good knockback.

DWNSpecial is different too. They both absorb energy attacks

(Guns, fire etc.) but Lucas' deals damage as well. For Smash attacks. Lucas' are definately stronger.

But again it depends on the player.

(I'm bad at reviewing characters.)

1) Fact. He is a slow version of Captain Falcon (who is bottom of tier list for SSBB)

2) Look at my more recent definition of the Tier List.

3) No, I do not mean the club. There are two FC exchange threads in the Games section.

First off, do we really need another thread about this. I know we now have a forum for video games, but wouldn't it be better just to use the one in clubs.

2)

1. Tier placement doesn't necessarily reflect your ability to beat your friends with a specific character. You might beat your friend's Metaknight with Sonic' date=' but that doesn't mean Sonic is top tier. It means you win that matchup against your friend. Tiers are not absolute measurements of match outcomes.

2. Instead of measuring match outcomes, tiers are more a measurement of potential of characters against the rest of the cast in a competitive, 1v1 tournament environment. It shows general strength of a character's abilities in a specific tournament environment. So yes, maybe Yoshi is a beast in teams or Ganon is REALLY good with items turned on... but this list measures somethingd different than those things.

3. This list is based on a combination of tournament result data, extensive discussions with top players and tournament hosts and looking at general trends in play in the current competitive metagame. It took a lot of work on the part of some of the best minds in Smash to compile this list.

He may be a slow version of Captain Falcon but he is also stronger, while C. Falcon is faster. You must learn how to use characters effectively.
