Wyhe
Try digging out an original concept around the series & then expand on it to make a good story. Here are some examples of original concepts:-like the ancient Egyptian background behind DM-or the 5 Dragons of 5D's-or the vigilante thing in Kale's Edge of Justice-or the Psychics that I use in my own fanfic, Key of the Mind

RyanAtlus
Do something with a world championship.(And let your main character win it by accident, even tough his Deck is terrible.)
Brushfire
Well. I'd firstly suggest thinking to yourself... what do you like writing? When you've thought of a genre and subject start thinking a bit more deeply. It might not work so easily for you but what happens with me is that when I get an idea the others just start flowing in and linking together. Don't ask others for ideas, let yourself think of them... that's the only way you'll enjoy writing it. :) Happy to help,-Faint Brushfire.
