How about this for a topic: Let's discuss the new threat from the creators of the Conficker virus. Who's scared, who's not, and if so, do you have any plans on what to do about it?

 

Remember, it can target military organizations and the government, so I'm damn sure it's not your everyday old virus. You are running under the assumption that even having MSN open, or even visiting your favourite websites, you will get infected in a flash without knowing. Heck, if you are on a router, even though you have no relation to the computer in the next room, you might be infected.

 

What I plan to do, is not go on the Internet for all of April 1st, then, after watching the results from the news on TV (first time in forever I watch TV), I will limit my Internet usage to very uncommon websites. Maybe YCM, who knows. If you don't see me on past April Fool's day, I have gone into a state of hiding, and won't be on for a while.

I am going on a school trip tomorrow so i won't be on the computer. Otherwise if the virsu goes to any computer even if it isn't turned on then i have already scanned and updated my computer's anti virus. If that doesn't work then to bad for me!

Thinking about the fact that it even penetrated thousands of organizations, companies, and even several governments' firewalls, I'm damn sure it's not as easy as leaving the computer off. The creator has probably already thought of ways to get around that update that Microsoft released a while ago.

If you guys actually read the news, you would know that the Conficker virus only targeted small companies like nuclear silos and banks on April 1st, activating false alarms and making bank machines spew out cash (DAMN! I want some >>).

Well since you guys don't give a damn about the virus, I'll brief you in on the details that happened (in case you didn't know already).

 

1) Nuclear power plants had false alarms activated.

2) Bank machines spewed out money. People near banks probably rich now, or sued for stealing money from banks. =P.
