On the Subject of Using Potential Future Cards to Justify Banning an Existing Card...

You can pay 100 Life Points and send this face-up card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Psychic-Type monsters from your Deck. Those monsters are destroyed during the End Phase.

Therefore, we should ban Psychic Commander.

I like the way you think.

But really, when have future cards been used to justify banning existing cards (I know that it has happened, but I wan't a list to refresh my memory)

The Quiff used some hypothetical card to justify banning Beckoning Light.

The Quiff used some hypothetical card that interacts with Manticore to justify Limiting Manticore.

It's Semi-Limited. If we ban Card of Safe Return, there isn't any loop for Manticore to use, therefor it can be put at 3. However, The Quiff seems obsessed with the notion that, some day, a card that says "When a card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard, do X" is created, it will make Manticore abused again.

And he's opposed to the simply concept of "when this hypothetical card is actually confirmed for release, Limit Manticore, but keep it at 3 until then" on the grounds that he wants no changes to ever be made to his banlist in the future outside of the banning of cards that Konami hasn't made yet.

Which makes no sense whatsoever.

The only time that banlists should consider future cards is when considering a card that by its nature limits card design.

Example, Phantom of Chaos makes Plasma into a problem. (And DAD and JD, etc. but those cards should be banned anyways.)

The question is, which one do we ban, out of Plasma and PoC? We ban PoC, because its very nature makes any difficult to summon monster with a powerful ignition effect into a problem. It will require either a limitation in card design, or future bans, to maintain its place as an unlimited card.
