Attribute Blocking Contest

Umbra

Recommended Posts

Your card recieves 58 points, on the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 14 points. Short text, and unnecessary sentence dividing.

Effect: 15 points. Am I the only one who think "OVERPOWER" when I see this card? A little activation cost, could have been good, such as 1000 Life Points or another monster?

Artwork: 16 points. Well, this one's good. Just a little compressed, just like much of the contestants in this contest.

Balance: 13 points. Once again, overpowered. The ATK/DEF fits for a lvl3 card, but the effect does not.

Your card recieves 57 points, on the following circumstances:

Spelling and Grammar: 12 points. You begin sentences with small letters instead of capitals. Not good.

Effect: 15 points. Certainly original, but uses different phrases than actual YGO cards, and therefore loses some points.

Artwork: 17 points. This was one of the better things in this card, even though the object itself looks a little misplaced.

Balance: 13 points. Since it's a Continous Trap, you have to count balance in Cost & Activation Vs. Effect, and this doesn't really fit. The cost should be somewhere around 4-500 Life Points per turn. Card discarding is more Instant traps, like Raigeki Break or Judgment of Anubis.

My entry card:

Your card gets 64 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 15 points. Spelling's good, but you have used different versions of the standard YGO phrases, such as "on your opponent's control" or "this card's ATK and DEF gains".

Effect: 13 points. Is not really good on it's own, and could use some of the other cards you mentioned. Sure, it's good, but needs support to reach it's full potential.

Artwork: 20 points. Now, this was good! Probably best artwork so far.

Balance: 16 points. A two-tribute monster with 3000 ATK/DEF (since it gains 500 ATK/DEF from it's own effect), but with a second effect that weakens the monster when it activates.

You got 2nd place. GAK drops to 3rd place, Carnage drops out of prize list.

Your card recieves 62 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 19 points. No complains.

Effect: 16 points. It's effect makes it only useful when it's Normal Summoned, since the Tiki counters are not placed when it's Special Summoned or even Flip Summoned. It has low DEF, enabling the owner to draw it using Witch of the Black Forest, but a little too low for the average Level 8-monster.

Artwork: 12 points. This's a little shady, but I think I can see a small logo or text in the bottom part of the image. Otherwise it was good.

Balance: 15 points. This effect could be a real pain in the @$$, since it can easily be used to keep your low-atk monsters safe. (Burn deck, perhaps?) Add a card that can renew the Tiki counters, and you have a 2,7 ATK defensive wall. And just 2 tributes! Thank God for the weakening effect. Also, the DEF is too low, just like previously stated.

You share 3rd place with GAK.

jrdudedj:

Your card recieves 61 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 14 points. Attributes are written as LIGHT, DARK, or EARTH, not Light, Dark and Earth. I am unsure if the name is s'posed to be "Kayotic" or if you misspelled "Chaotic".

Artwork: 19 points. This is the strong part of this card. The image is almost screaming: Onward, my soldiers!

Effect: 14 points. Considering the artwork, the effect does not fit. It's effect is not entirely good in this contest, since it is actually good against three different attributes, but also bad against these elements.

Balance: 14 points. The ATK/DEF is a little too good for a LVL5, but also since it requires three removals from Graveyard, that weighs it up a little. It's effect can be used in both good and bad ways.

Nate12345:

Your card recieves 46 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 17 points. The general expression here lowers the score.

Artwork: 12 points. The text (A Blizzard Image) lowers the score greatly.

Effect: 9 points. This card's effect is either GREATLY overpowered, or just very confusing. The way I see it, this card destroys all monsters when it's Scorch Counters exceed half it's level. (Which means, 3 End Phases later.)

Balance: 8 points. The ATK/DEF is very bad for a lvl5, and considering the effect, this card hasn't got that much of a balance.

uzairstheking:

Your card recieves 59 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 18 points. Some words could have been changed.

Artwork: 12 points. Good art, but doesn't fit with the effect. After all, Yin/Yang symbolizes the balance between darkness and light.

Effect: 14 points. This effect can be VERY easy to counter. Since it only maintains while "A Light Attribute Monster stays on your side of the field" it can be Tributed away, destroyed by battle, or even just Creature Swapped, since the effect if lost if a Light Attribute monster is removed from your side of the field.

Balance: 15 points.Like I said, the effect can be very easy to counter. An activation requirement, but no cost.

Yami Cookie1145: Your card recieves 41 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 8 points. Not good, not good at all. Attributes are written in CAPITALS, not small letters. Monsters are with a s in the end, and there is s'posed to be a (-) between "non" and "warrior".

Artwork: 13 points. Well... at least it fits the name. But a white background? No!

Effect: 10 points. This effect is a little confusing, even though I understand it. Why would those who are not warriors be weakened in battle if someone wields a Silver Bow and Arrow ? And why is it only equippable to EARTH monsters?

Balance: 10 points. It gives an EARTH monster 400 ATK, but drains all non-warrior's ATK by 400 points. Which means you have to give it to an EARTH Warrior for it to matter. Otherwise, the effect is plain confusing.

King of Games:Your card recieves 58 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 14 points. Text was a little short, and as you said yourself, it's too late to go back and fix the grammar errors.

Artwork: 15 points. It looks a little... dizzy, of some sort. Like it has been scaled down from a much bigger image.

Effect: 16 points. The effect itself is quite good, but effects like this should follow a certain pattern, like in this case WATER->FIRE, FIRE-> EARTH, EARTH->WIND, and WIND->WATER. Yours do almost, which makes a stop in the chain and difficult to read.

Balance: 13 points.Since it's a Field Card, it shouldn't have an activation cost. Your card has not. Currently, all Attributes gains a bonus against another attribute, which does not directly fit this contest.

OldMaster:

Your card recieves 81 points, under the following circumstances:

Spelling & Grammar: 20 points. No complains, long text.

Artwork: 16 points. Stunning, but a monster card usually shows the monster standing still. This makes it a little different than the others.

Also, the many effects and lightningbolts makes it hard to concentrate on the card itself, and find yourself just looking at the artwork.

Effect: 14 points. A little too much, especially if you meet an EARTH deck. A 700 points decrease, (which takes out the potential of most monsters) and also an Attack Blocker?

Ritual Spell: 17 points. Stunning artwork, but, once again, the many lines disturbs the entire card.

Balance: 14 points. The card's effect lowers the balance a lot. It's ATK/DEF are not that good for a LVL 7, even though it can be summoned by tributing as low as 1 monster.

Changes:

OldMaster climbs to 1st Place.

Deity Mitsu/Bastionsgirl drop to 2nd Place.

Talim Rave drops to 3rd place.

GAK/The average guy is removed from prize list.

wow i told you oldmaster was gonna crush us. i'll try making another entry :D BTW can you remind us the prizes cause i'm bored?

1st Place: 3 reps.

2nd Place: 2 reps.

3rd Place: 1 rep.

Note: Since I can only give out 6 reps, if any place is taken by 2 or more people, these will have to make another card with a different goal to decide the winner. The winner is given the place, and the loser is moved down 1 step.
