correct your spelling and sentence structure or your opinion is nulled.

And umm... Hello? You mean to tell me NOT once have you wanted to hit someone? Lol' date=' doubt that.[b'] Even I, (seriously anti violence guy) have had my moments.[/b]

And that reason is all someone needs. Epic question, it is not.

Lol.

You want to kill me ALLLL the time.

Lolz, no.

Just exaggeration used for the moment, no ill will, ever. (Otherwise I wouldnt keep trying).

Okay' date=' here is an example. In the Qur'an it clearly states that suicide, or anything similar to which you kill yourself, will send you to hell, no questions asked. Yet there are idiots blowing themselves up in the name of Allah, kind of stupid to not follow something so basic to understand.[/b']

Are you a Muslim?

Yes, I am.

And yet I am blocked.

Doesn't change much though.

Hmm, it appears I have got a little bit of progress on this topic, I must say, this is amusing.

Well religion does play a huge part in the world as you said it causes wars, but also overs people some hope or morals to live by.

I personally believe that there is no point is religion, but I seen people by believing in their religion that they feel relieved from their problems sometimes.

I read somewhere that religion is a way of worshipping human beings that others can follow them.

You mean Christopher Hitchens?

He is nothing but an ignorant bigot that lies and twists things to fit his own BS ideals.

Yes, him. + gets depressed +

I only have his words to go by, on your insinuatin' on Muslim suicide bombin'. Dunno if they're actually true, as I haven't read a single iota of the Koran yet (and in any case, I won't unduly harass mine self to read Arabic).

Religion is completely pointless and stupid imo.

I actually say 'BULL' to that. I've seen quite a few lorries saying 'Christian aid' going around my town, going off to places to give food and other things to some poor souls. Tell me THAT's pointless.

Religion is good for these people who need help, phisically, mentally and spiritually. As the Bible says ;

'Woe to those who think good is evil.'

In 2008, I went on a spiritual journey which made me a better Christian, thus a better person. If religion is pointless and stupid, then how has it done me so good?

Revolutionary string of thought, for some reason people didn't seem to realize that for millennia.

On a more serious note, religion is, if only, a spiritual support. Something to keep people going. Fanatical idiots who run about killing non-believers don't define a religion; its principles do. I do not believe a lot of things about my own religion, but I find its message to make the most sense, in that it promotes a lifestyle I strongly approve, so I stick with it.

That's what most religious people nowadays do - they're above believing every single word in the books. Those that do and take everything to ridiculous extremes are outliers, so to speak, and not should not be considered when discussing the harms and benefits of a religion, as they do not accurately represent its essence.

A lot of comments are pointing to 9/11 bombings and the Crusades as reasons religion is bad and should be abolished.

Don't take extremists as everyone. A good number of groups have used religion as a blanket, an excuse, to do as they please. (see: KKK, Al Quaida)

There's also a slew of comments complaining about overzealous preachers bugging them. Well, yeah, I'm Christian, and even I find them to be annoying, and frankly, hurtful to the spread of Christianity. But I can also see where they are coming from. Let me make an analogy (that I'm sure all you bright and chipper young atheists will just be drooling to tear apart):

If you are standing on a road, and see that the road ends in a cliff, you aren't going to keep on traveling down that road, right? But what if you saw your friend/someone you cared about, not only traveling, but sprinting, toward that precipice? Naturally, you would want to shout and run out and stop them.

Just my two cents.

And I must admit, the large number of people here renouncing God has me depressed...

Belief in X' existence =/= X' existence.

People could donate food to the poor without believing in God.

People could be better citizens without believing in God.

People could achieve what is thought as impossible without believing in God.

If people could do such, why need God?

There is no reason or point for religon. Religon is something you believe. That doesn't mean it's real.

That also doesn't mean there's no point to it...

And for them to move their asses and do such' date=' you need to construct a story about an old man with a long beard who lives in the sky?

[/quote']

I'm just saying that the people who have gone out and volunteered and such to better the world have had a track record for being religious.
