I did a little experiment yesterday with the yugioh card game as the medium while testing the boundaries of the power of belief.

Yesterday afternoon. I went to the bookstore to buy a book I need to read for my English class. I was about 2 dollars short for the $15.00 price and 10 of those were my brother's. Leaving me with 3 dollars until I next day (today), when I weekly get some money for myself.

I decided. Since everyone I know went home already so I can't complete, and since I missed the sneak preview of the New yugioh pack. I guess I'll go buy a booster to the store that's more or less halfway between my home and my school (1 hour from school).

 

My thoughts turned like the following:

It would be nice to get the most expensive and desired card of the pack. That 80+ dollar Pot of Duality. Then I could sell it.

I'll make an experiment.

I decide I'll go and get one.

(I filled my mind during that 1 hour trip with the thought I was going to claim the card that was already there for me to grab. That I was going to absolutely get it for sure. I decided that out of 2 boxes of cards in the store, I would pick the bottom left pack from the right box as soon as went into the store. I said this to myself even before leaving school grounds).

 

Any thought of doubt or weakness of thought I would get in the way I tried my best to get it out of my head (I know, for an hour is kinda freaky).

 

Well, guess what. When I entered the store I picked exactly the pack I previously thought of picking in the same place I thought it would be and when I opened it, the card was there. xD

Some friends told me "you can't just come into the store, buy a single pack, and get something you are looking for".. funny thing is, when the card "Ally of Justice Catastor" was new and expensive, they told me the same thing (you can imagine what happened)

 

Some people buy full boxes of those packs and don't get what they are looking for. This is so funny I just had to post it. ^-^

And well, I got rid of the card while its still expensive. After this, I have full confidence I'll be able to pull another one xD

Actually, the store owner in the past, has told me to pick a pack from a random box and pull him something expensive and I've done it.

In the past by "feeling packs" but this one time I didn't even touch them.

When I was younger, I went to get the new pack that had just been released, with the three secondary gods in it (Hamon, Raviel, Uria)

 

My friend and I stood there for a second looking at the packs.

 

"You're supposed to get one towards the back," he said, "becuause you have a better chance of getting a rare card."

 

I closed my eyes for a second, and thought of how badly I wanted one of the three. Even though I wanted Uria really bad, all the sudden I was determined to get Hamon. I had no idea why, but I didn't pay any mind to it.

 

I concentrated really hard, but then I got really light headed so I stopped, and just picked a random pack from the middle.

 

"You're supposed to pick from the back," my friend explained as he reached for the pack farthest back.

 

"Whatever. Hold onto myine for a second. I gotta tie my shoe." I leaned over to tie my shoe, and suddenly I got really pissed. "Give it back!"

 

"What?"

 

"The pack! Give it back now!"

 

"Okay, whatever. Here." I studied it for a second.

 

"This ISN'T the one I gave you."

 

"Yeah it is."

 

"No it isn't."

 

"Give it back."

 

"What?"

 

"I want the other one instead."

 

"Fine, whatever." We switched packs. I felt like I had an extremely strong reason for being paranoid, but to this day, I know I didn't. We get to the check up counter, and ours are scanned, and are paid for by my mom, as we were only about 10 and 12 at the time. We go outside to the car, where my friend pulls a Hamon, and I pull nothing. At this point, I wasn't mad anymore, I was just upset. My friend was happy, though.

 

Three to four years later we were over at his house one day, when he gave the Hamon back to me. He said he never used it, and he wanted me to have it. We talked about the day he pulled it out of the pack.

 

"Yeah, that was funny. You thought I switched the packs, and I ended up getting Hamon. That was just...funny. I dunno."

 

"Did you switch the packs around?" I asked.

 

"No. That's what was so funny about it."

You may or may not be wondering why the name of this thread has been changed to "The ALD on YCM" (which I am going to do here in a second).

 

The ALD's HQ can be the new forum, with multpile lesser important HQ's on different websites.

I wanted to stay clean forever. I don't even care if people put extra+s in me, the bad one is still there and thanks to the forum is unerasable. TT_TT

What you are stating now is something I have lost sleep over since the club began, or since it became a significant part of our lives, at least. I was doing a terrible job of leading November-June because I thought that eveything was doing alright, but people were considering leaving even then, and just never did. At this point, it is almost too late for the ALD. If you, Saikano and I work hard, we can save the ALD. We will. So let's chin up; if we, the leaders, are negative about this club's survival, what can be said for the rest of the ALD? They'll be just as doubtful, if not more.

The new styled forum is easy to manipulate for the troublemakers, it seems. It's one of the many reasons I made the new ALD forum, which has very little activity, somedays. If you think about it, you Saikano and I were the first three to be in the ALD. After that, we invited Nick, I believe. Then, Arceus. From there, I cannit remember the order. XD

Anyways, not sure if this will really help but, bump. Its been 6 days of no comments.

 

If you and me are the only ones left here commenting the club, we might as well discuss the plan of action for the club..

 

-Getting new members?

-Getting the previous members to somehow want to come back?

-Think about some list of activities that will keep people busy?

-Probably starting a new thread from nothing to refresh ourselves and leave the link here. Also, send it via PM to actual members anyways. Who knows? maybe some will come back.

 

I'm in a mood of "stop crying, start acting" so... whatever we can do is good.

 

Quick ideas for club organization:

 

-First, an easy to understand explanation of the club. Like how its for artists in general, not attached to anime only, not attached to yugioh only. Even though they are the most frequent things :lol: etc.

 

-Rules next.

 

-Member List (no ranks, we don't want to create a feeling of superiority/inferiority among peoplez)

 

-Then a couple of spoilers for current activities. Or the activities could be held at different places so that only the links are sufficient. That way we can keep adding on, in case someone wants to see some previous event. For this, I'd say not more than 3 "current" activities at a time, but that's just opinion.

Activity suggestions could also be suggested.

If too many suggestions exist (yeah sure), an activity wait list could be made.

 

-Finally, a gallery of works. Not a giant one that will make the page slower. I mean, like 1 pic from each member. Maybe a weekly or monthly image from each member. That alone will leave members with something to do for the club. Image is free style. Whatever you want to do.

 

^those and other things might help, that what I can immediately think about right now.

 

[spoiler=@Fuzzie:] If you sort of like the idea =D but don't find the time to make it or to constantly be here to run it, I could also make the thread so that I get to organize stuff (sort of like the secretary of the club). That wouldn't change your leader status. Whatever you want me to change I'd change.

I'm thinking you can make the new thread for the ALD here, and look after the HQ on YCM, as I have a hard time using this place, anymore, and we'll still keep the ALD forum as our main HQ.
