Have you ever been severely BS'd in a video game? (or Spike VGA Awards Discussion)

Has something happened to you while you were playing a game that wound up royally screwing you over? (Not like, I was about to kill the final boss when something happened and he killed me first.)

 

Once I decided to play Pokemon Red from the beginning (I was about 7 when i did this). On a single set of batteries that were already used quite a bit, I got through all 8 gyms. BUT, as I was about to open the menu to save after beating Giovanni, my finger accidentally slipped on the A Button and I started to talk to him. And before I could finish the conversation and save, the batteries died. The catch? I didn't save the game since I entered Viridian City...AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME.

 

Also, feel free to discuss the failure of the Spike VGA awards.

One time I beat the elite 4 in Diamond. My battery had been low for quite some time. I got the charger and tried to plug it in. I accidentally pushed the Diamond cartridge in and it popped out and I had to re-battle Cynthia with like 2 pokemon that I barely survived with last time.

Anyone else wonder why GTA IV won GOTY, but lost both the best 360 game AND best PS3 game to Gears 2 and LittleBigPlanet (respectively)?

 

Also, this one award show in particular just goes to show how far out of their way they go to make sure major awards that are deserved by a Nintendo game aren't won by them (I'm reffering specifically to Best Fighter and Best Wii game).

GTA IV was the one game I was hoping WOULDN'T get GOTY. Besides, if it ain't the best game on BOTH consoles it was released for at the time and it STILL wins GOTY, then you KNOW they screwed up big time.

Well what other games were up for the GOTY?

MGS4, Fallout 3, Gears 2 (which won best 360 game), and LittleBigPlanet (which won best PS3 game). I'm actually suprised LittleBigPlanet was even nominated, considering how these guy are with non-adult games. >_>

Allow me to rephrase that: I'm suprised LittleBigPlanet was even nominated, considering how these guys are with games that seem to be family friendly.

well the game i get bs on all the time is call of duty world at war see every time i die i get respawned in front of some one and theirs also the fact that some people can apparently go under the ground and kill you and you have no way of knowing that thats where they are except on replays

royally screwed? thought I was in MGS2, the room where u meet up with snake and get your (lol) clothes back. All the doors were locked and there was nothing there, I was like "WHAT THE F***" then i went online and found out you gotta wait for a call >>

 

dunno if i've done anything else terrible, trying to fight it out in RE4 in that one room with the lock and the bed in the first village, with my handgun. lol

What I'm trying to say is that a game that wins GOTY should win at least one of the best *insert console here* games. Like Bioshock, which won best 360 game last year. What other reason should a game win that award if it isn't the best game of the system it was made for (or one of, if its multi-platform)?
