[spoiler=The Plot]The year is approximately 2152. The exploration and study of the alien ocean on Europa is long gone and Mars has just about as many flags as on the Moon. With transportation to the red planet developed to a skill humans have begun a much more ambitious project- Man's first ever attempt at Terraforming a planet. With millions of human made smokestacks on Mars' surface pumping Greenhouse gases into the Martian sky in an attempt to give the red planet atmosphere and warm up the ice in the North Pole and spawn oceans, you can understand there are many skeptics. The Cosmonaut workers on it also hope that the Greenhouse gases and water vapour won't just detach itself into Space because of the low gravity. But in the tiny little colonies surrounding the Martian factories a strange transformation is occurring among the colonists. Due to the low gravity adaptations the cosmonauts have developed a longer leg structure for jumping, have lost half of their muscle weight and developed thinner hearts and bones. Along with this brought extra cranial capacity and soon after 50 years the colonists have evolved into a whole different species from Homo Sapiens. Homo Gradivus, commonly known as Cosmonauts, were born. With greater brains Cosmonauts created greater technologies and soon the Terraforming process increased tenfold. The ice melted and spawned a great flood which water vapour created atmosphere. The continents were Arabia Terra, Terra Sabaea, Promethei Terra, Terra Meridani, Tyrrhena Terra, Noachis Terra and Terra Cimmeria. These seven continents were populated by the Cosmonauts. Of course, Cosmonaut and Human trade has been expansive and productive yet there has been much healthy competition between them for exploration. This is where you come in. You are an explorer from either species and you are a member of a crew, or manning a probe, or part of an exploration team or expedition to span the cosmos and quench our unquenchable thirst for curiosity.

Incomplete Description of Job, didn't specify which American Confederacy and... seriously Earth Joint StarFleet? This isn't Star Trek, Earth doesn't have a fleet of blasters blazing starships.

Basically, global warming has caused water levels to rise a bit so California up to the San Andreas Fault doesn't exist anymore and NYC has become a little bit like Venice (which is now completely sub-aquatic). Politics in the United States and Canada are a little tense, since Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa and the International Separatist Union of Quebec have formed the North American International Independent Confederate Union of Socialist Republics (NAIICUOSR) commonly known as the American Confederacy in the United States and Separatist Union in Canada. And don't even get me started on what's happening in Europe, what with the Neo France Revolution and all that. >.
