Maybe not, but kids have to grow up sometime and accept cold hard reality

But, people who crash there spirits are the only ones suffering in reality. While I play along with it for my little cousins, let them have fun and enjoy childhood with santa to make them even more happy.

and what will happen on the day they find out Santa isn't real?

. . . . Are you suffering? Or you can't just see the wonder of Christmas? Do you like breaking little kids' spirits? Because, I think you do. Once they find out that Santa isn't real, they will be like me and find out for themselves whe nthey get older around 12. When they are around 12, it won't matter, just for their childhood let them bleieve what they would like.

To all of you saying "Santa is not real. He never existed. Your all retards for thinking he's real" well, YOUR DA RETARDS.

[do not read the following unless you are a christian.]

True, Santa is not some fat dude who gives you stuff once a year, while flying on reindeer.

Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Santa Claus. He was a 4th-century Greek Christian bishop of Myra in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity. In Europe (more precisely the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany) he is still portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes. In 1087, the Italian city of Bari, wanting to enter the profitable pilgrimage industry of the times, mounted an expedition to locate the tomb of the Christian Saint and procure the remains. The reliquary of St. Nicholas was desecrated by Italian sailors and the spoils, including his relics, taken to Bari where they are kept to this day. A basilica was constructed the same year to store the loot and the area became a pilgrimage site for the devout, thus justifying the economic cost of the expedition. Saint Nicholas became claimed as a patron saint of many diverse groups, from archers and children to pawnbrokers. He is also the patron saint of both Amsterdam and Moscow.

That's not relevant. What are they supposed to gain if you shield them from reality?

No, it's pretty illogical...Santa is bassed on St. Nicholas, who lived not to many hundreds of years ago and died not to far after. Also stories say he travelles the world giving presants on the same night when in germany opposed to england has there christmas eve on the 6th of dec. when england has it on the 24th of dec....

Just accept it's your parents...thats right...they lied...

which means that St. Nicholas, like Jesus, was once real, and is dead now

If you believe the bible. Which I don't.

While Santa is a nice concept for children to believe in, its all about the money. Imagine how much the places that have a 'Santa' thing make.

I remember getting told when I was in Year 5 by a Year 6, I can't remember being hugely bothered that it wasn't real. (Basically the Year 6 caught her parents)
