Can I take credit for an image if...

I think the criteria is, if you didn't draw it, you don't own it. As such, I believe you do have to give credit to the artist - and even more so for having altered the original that did not belong to you in the first place.

 

If you're talking about using Kazuki Takahashi art and playing around with it, I think a simple mention will suffice, but is probably not even necessary. ;)

Ok here is an example:

 

Here is picture A:

[*(^)*]

 

Now Timmy wants to use picture A, but he doesnt like the ^, so he edits it to look like:

[*(`)*]

 

Timmy posted his picture in a thread on the forum, and said he made the thread.

The next day, 7 Big Burly men dressed in black, came to Timmies house, and threw him into a van headed for Azkaban.

 

In other words, even if you edited a picture, you cannot take claim for it.
