I don't write chapters halfway, ragnarok1945. I write them in full when I write them.I think I did pretty well with that duel. I couldn't weave Kim talking to John into the duel as well as the Yugioh 5Ds writers weaved Yusei talking to Aki into their duels, but I did it well enough to show that Kim was really trying to break John free from the Gods' control. THe thing with the scrap gang is that they are all duel spirits of the card junkyard, none of them are human. However it is your fic so nevermind. I think you should have a character named Satire, Satire is a duel spirit of the card copycat that has managed to cross to our world and has lived since Atem's time. He duels but is unique in that his deck changes each time to mock his foes (against a kingdom deck he would use a deck with Huge Revolution, against a crystal beast deck he would use an advanced crystal beast and so on). Just because they're spirits from the card junkyard, doesn't mean they can't take human form and travel to other places, looking for John. Also, all of the scrap gang will be in human form. The last one will be another spirit in human form, but John will recognize it as a conglomerate of his old card spirits. As for Satire, I'll have John duel him and one other member before facing up to the highest-ranking member of the Scrap Gang. There will be one surprising thing about the duel with the Gang Leader, besides what the opponent will be using. Wasn't Kim's Mirror Force Stolen in Chapter 5 or something? I don't recall. That wasn't really on my mind at the time Gemini was introduced, nor when Dark Kim was introduced, but now I have another plot twist to use or not to use. I'll be sure not to make the kids too exuberant, though I already think I did.LC, 4 children is generally a bit much. I'm not in favor of having that many either.
