Clubs & Organizations Section Rules

Recommended Posts

The Clubs forum is now being moderated by Hunter & Flame Dragon.

Due to the increasing amount of spam in this section, the request has come up to remove post count. I and many other members don’t want this to happen. With a bit of willingness from the side of the members to collaborate, it should not be a problem to cut down the spamming and bring back the good reputation of this section.

That being said, I don’t want to see the following things anymore:

  • § No spamming.
This rule will be insisted on in particular. Post sequels in the style of “Got to go”, “alright then”, “okay see you”, “yes bye”, “bye guys”, among others, will not be tolerated anymore, as they don’t contribute to a discussion and only clutter a topic. Keep in mind that spamming is not only ground to get your warning level raised, but also a penalty for your club.

  • § Troublemakers.
The clubs leaders are always free to expulse a member who doesn't follow the rules and inform me or a super mod about it. If said member is not willing to walk off, feel free to PM me.
There must always be a valid reason. If a member gets expulsed without any acceptable reason, s/he should PM a moderator about it and I will sort it out. This counts for any situation in this section which needs particular attention.

  • § No reputation system abuse.
Reps given to people for simply joining a club are equal to rep spamming and will no longer be tolerated. Leave them for the people who stick out by making great contributions to your club.

  • § One club per person.
It is only allowed to run one active club at the same time. If there is another active club of yours, you will be asked to give up one of them and obviously, you're not allowed to post the same thread again right after that. If you pass the command over to another member, it has to be mentioned in the first post of the thread.

  • § Stickied threads.
The stickied positions are reserved for the best among the clubs. If you think you deserve to be featured there, you can post in the Featured Clubs Application thread. I can accept up to 6-8 clubs at one time. If the topic is locked, you will have to wait until the next round.
So far, it has always been the case that a stickied club got removed after 2 warnings. However, this will be changed now in order to avoid any abuse of prejudiced positions. From now on, a stickied club will be removed after 1 warning. After all, as I explained above, the stickied positions are reserved for the elite among the clubs.
Currently ACCEPTING clubs to be stuck

This should wrap it up. As it is the case on all the other forums, the official rules of the site still apply.

Other than that, if there is a situation in this forum that needs any particular attention, PM Hunter or Flame Dragon and they will sort it out.

Any questions, comments or reminders of things I might have forgotten can be posted here. There might be some additions during the next days.

I have a problem with the second rule. As you may or may not know, many people spam... a lot in this Forum. And clubs should not be penalized if one person, as long as it is not the TS, is spamming uncontrollably. The club leader cannot do anything to stop the member, as it is their free will. So, if one person is spamming, I do not think it is fair to "warn" the club, instead, kick the member out of the Forum. But that is just my opinion.

EDIT: Also, if we want to apply for our club to be sticked, should we wait for another thread, or PM you or another Mod?

Simple solution.

If it's only one person (not naming anyone, even though we all know who we're talking about) then just ban them. Why let the rest of the club suffer for the actions of one person?

In that case, rely to this.

The leader is always free to expulse people from his/her club and if that person is not willing to obey, PM me or a super mod.

Also, warnings will not be given out if only one person spams, in that case it will result in an individual warning. The club warnings are really for cases in which clubs as a whole are running out of control.

About the sticked threads issue, wait until the application thread gets opened again.Hope that helped.^_^

Thanks' date=' that cleared most of it up for me. Are there any limitations to how many clubs you can be joined in, or does no one care about that?

[/quote']

No, you can join as many clubs as you want. Be aware that the creator is always free to expulse you due to inactivity, though.

Speaking of it, I added a rule about specific troublemakers within a club and sticked threads.

I like Rule 1 very much' date=' but I would like quotes like "What are we talking about?" to be counted. The member Shanoa refers to does this far too often, and other members have followed suit.

[/quote']

Oh believe me, so do I!:D Quotes like this are included into the notion of spamming.

A question for these rules. When you ban someone from a club because of misbehaviour or other things along that line how does that work. Do we ask a mod or supermod to ban them from that thread or if we say they are banned from that club can they not still enter and post in it? If i didn't make sense please tell me and i will simplify.

In that case, inform the troublemaker that s/he's not part of your club anymore and add his/her name in your first post, but most of all, please PM me about it. I will take care of the situation and make sure the concerned member doesn't post in your club anymore. Actually I'm going to add a note about the club leaders here soon. And yes, you are free to report or neg rep said person.

I see what you mean, but at this point I don't think it's necessary to add a new rule about that. There will always be many clubs about Pokémon, music, etc., simply because of the popularity of said fandoms/themes. Putting a limit would create arguments in the style of "Why has the club of member X been approved and mine not?" and cause many members, especially club owners to leave this section altogether.

And you can call me Raven.;)

Roxas, how far do you want to change your club? Adding a new fandom/club theme should be alright, but if you plan to change it completely into something else, I would suggest to make a new one.

I've got a suggestion.

It's all about the rule that's common within the more large guilds.

It often says that you need to post more than once per week or you're kicked / etc. My suggestion is to prevent such rules. It's all up to the guild leader weather they're sure the member is to inactive to stay.

To me, it's just another cheap way to gain bumps, bumps and more bumps.

I have a question regarding the existence of "Spam Patrol" clubs.

It was brought to my attention today that a club known as the "Spam Obliterator's Club" was tasking its members to go looking for Spam, even to the point of spying on threads, in an effort to get members warned or banned.

On the surface, it seems like a perfectly reasonable goal. But I've also been brought to understand that Mini-Modding, which is precisely what that Club promotes, is a practice that is generally looked down upon by the Forum as a whole.

Should these types of clubs even be allowed to function?

Talking of which, they have malfunctioned, therefore, they aren't allowed to function anymore, even though I've made the club. Note: Don't ban me because of it, I know it's wrong. The SOC is the place where people look for spam and report it. They will spill the proof of spam to the thread and it's leader will check whether it's spam or not themselves. Anyway, what shall we do to the thread that wants to be stickied when the Featured Clubs Applications Thread is locked? Shall we PM you or what?

Sorry guys for replying late and not paying any particular attention to this thread anymore. I requested a full-time move to Music so right now I don't mod this section anymore. Once I'm done with my exams there might be some changes though (if I get an agreement).;)

For now I'm going to update this thread and keep an eye around here.

The idea sounds good and would certainly reduce the spam for a part.

I still see some problems with it, though. On the other side, a club leader has the overview and "control" over his club, if you want to call it like that, right under the mods who watch the section as a whole. So far we're always been quite flexible with how a leader can shape the club rules as he deems it responsible and fair, as long as they don't go against the section rules (reps for joining, putting a member on the "banned" list for no reason, etc.).

Your idea would reduce the spam in some clubs, which is a good thing, but at the same time I think it would penalize certain others in terms of activity.

Instead, I believe certain clubs which are known for being bumped too much should be watched more particularly, as well as the section as a whole. If it gets clear that the scenario you explained just keeps repeating itself iin a thread then consequences will be taken, but preventing such activity boosting rules as a whole is a bit too much. For the sake of keeping things fair.;)

Your point is very valid but for now, I don't think it's necessary to implement such a rule yet.

But keep letting them coming guys, ideas are always welcome!

I would suggest updating the spamming rule' date=' saying that members are not allowed to post in a club they are not a member of unless they are joining or if they are a moderator.

[/quote']

It's a bit like the rule above.

If you think members who have nothing to do with your club should stay away from it then you can implement such a point in the club rules. Other leaders/creators might think otherwise about it though (affiliating, allowing members to ask a simple question about the club topic, etc.) so I'm going to leave that choice to the club leaders.

But go ahead!;)

Oh well, issue solved.;)

These types of threads are generally locked though. I remember how the same happened with the Fail Police in 2008, it was quite funny at first but caused a lot of harassing, flaming and (how ironic) more spam.

It got unstuck for whatever reason but I'm currently working on a new application thread. For now PM's work but please copypaste and fill out the application form in the old thread. If you can't find it look at Tkill93's profile, it should be somewhere between his older threads.
