.Requiem
I got a question what happens if the pic is photobucket or Google or some random website that is from deviantart and we didn't know that?
Jericho
I sparodically made cards before the original rule was instated. I tried to ask permission from multiple artists on DA. None of the artists I asked about their art had been on for months, even a year at the most that I remember. So I quit. I've made a couple of cards since the rule was retracted, but haven't had the time to post them. Now I've lost the artists, so I can't post them. Now I'm being restricted basically to General, Fan Fic, and shops by some silly little false threat. Thanks for ruining it for me, all 12 of you on dA who actually care when you've taken no time to legally protect yourselves. Thanks a freaking lot! selizabeth
1) Users of DA post thier works in a public domain. Unless issued creative commons licenses or copyrights from the government' date=' their art is in the public domain in the same way Beethoven's 5th Symphony is.2) You only complain here, but not on any other site that has the art of DA users like PhotoBucket.3) No profit=no legal action, especially without copyright or creative commons licenses.4) I highly doubt that any judge or jury would convict people for "using images for a fake version of a children's card game". So please, SHUT IT.[/quote'] That's a myth actually, posting things online does not automatically release them to the public domain. Beethoven's works are in the public domain because A) there was no copyright then and B) even if there had been, he has been dead for so long it would have run out You obviously never go on dA, there is an entire forum section dedicated to reporting art theft. We fight photobucket as well, the difference being that they don't have forums. Either way the rule has been rightfully reinstated, so you might as well get used to it. gesasage
Its a tough legal world out there, many artists may not grant permission even when asked, some may not be contactable. It is another step in the game, getting permission, but it is more legally sound, and more fulfilling to get real permission from an artist, and the artists you get permission from will instead of being irritated because you used their art with out permission be very pleased to know that someone has actually asked permission to use their piece. Father Wolf
lol DA and there copy rights. i think credit should be given, but u shouldnt have to ask for every usage. this is the internets after all. DA are just like ppl who eat at panara bread, stuck up ass holes who think that there better than everyone because of where there at. maybe da should get over it and just be aw that their art was good enough to be made into a card... .Requiem
We should respect the wishes of DA because it is their work not ours.
Jericho
How is it more fulfilling? Really? And like I said before, there is no way a judge or any jury would fine us for using images for a fake version of a children's card game. Especially when most of what is not presented with copyrights, when we're not making any money, and when we CREDIT THE ARTISTS WITH NAME OF THE ARTIST, WORK, AND PROVIDE A URL!!!!!! EDIT: selizabeth has posted a link on DA to this site talking about how we're all ripping their art. so prepare for the whole site to get mega spammed. oh wait. don't. because 48% of DA doesn't care unless profits are being made and 87% of DA doesn't care if credit is given. Take a look at the text beneath each image on dA and you'll see either a creative commons licenses or a copyright symbol with the year and the name of the creator.lol DA and there copy rights. i think credit should be given' date=' but u shouldnt have to ask for every usage. this is the internets after all. Brentxbanshee
Okay well what if the person on that site neglects to show up anymore how are we suppose to ask permision from someone whos say dead, in a coma, studding abroad in france? I say all we should have to do is simply give credit on the thread anything else is just outrageous.

gesasage
The least you can do is ask permission, they spend hours, days, months working on some images they make, they should at least be able to give permission for its use and know where their art is being posted. We are luck some artists even let us see their art.
