ShadowKyogre
Okay, has anyone noticed that the YGO Anime bend the rules a lot? Anyway, I wrote up what would have happened if Marik was playing fairly and I was replacing Mai. And I don't know it this is in the right section. [spoiler=Me vs Marik]**This is what I think would happen if: 1. People in the show were not using made-up cards. 2. No one used the Egyptian God Cards. 3. People in the show did not make up made-up rulings. 4. They didn't use banned cards. Also, I will be replacing Mai in the duel between Marik and Mai, fast forwarding to the start of the Duel. Me: Before we start this duel, Marik, I have one condition for this duel. Marik: And what might that be? Me: Play fairly. Otherwise, do not use any cards that are not officially recognized and those that are not banned. If you don't know what cards I'm referring to, they would be Ra, Pot of Greed, Makyura the Destructor, Holding Arms, Holding Legs, Card of Last Will, and Sacred Stone of Ojhat. You also need to comply by the actual rulings of the cards. Marik: But I am adhering to their effects! Besides, none of my cards are banned! Me: (shoves ban list in front of Marik and a list of cards that exist) Take them out. Marik: (mumbling) I'll still be able to beat you. (removes listed cards from his deck) Since you're so brazen, why don't you go first? Me: Gladly. (Draws a card) I activate The Dark Door and Continuous Destruction Punch. Then I set 1 face-down defense. I end my turn. (Hand: 3, Deck: 38, Monsters on field: 1, Spells and Traps: 2, LP: 4000) Marik: I summon Revival Jam in Defense Position and activate Jam Breeding Machine. Me: You realize you can't Summon it in Defense Position unless it's by effect. It should be in Attack Position. Marik: Fine then (fixes Revival Jam). I end my turn. (Hand: 4, Deck: 34, Monsters on field: 1, Spells and Traps: 1, LP: 4000) Me: Wow, that's really intimidating (sarcastic, draws a card). I set 1 card face-down and Tribute my defense for Prime Material Dragon. It attacks your Revival Jam (Marik's LP: 3100) and after that, I end my turn. (Hand: 2, Deck: 37, Monsters on field: 1, Spells and Traps: 3, LP: 4000) Marik: If that's so, I'll pay 1000 Life Points to revive my Revival Jam to my side of the field in Defense Position (LP: 2100). (Token is Special Summoned in Attack Position) ...I can't do anything for this turn. (Hand: 5, Deck: 33, Monsters on field: 2, Spells and Traps: 1, LP: 2100) Me: Are you planning to lose? (draws a card) I set 1 monster and have Prime Material Dragon Attack a Slime Token (Marik's LP: 200). Go. (Hand: 2, Deck: 36, Monsters on field: 2, Spells and Traps: 3, LP: 4000) Marik: ...I still can't do anything since you won't destroy my Jam Breeding Machine... (Hand: 6, Deck: 32, Monsters on field: 2, Spells and Traps: 1, LP: 200) Me: I could if I had a specific card right now. (draws a card) Wow...this is stupid. Attack the Slime Token, Prime Material Dragon. (end game) Seriously...why does the show use illegal/non-existent cards (not all of them, just so many annoying and broken ones)? ragnarok1945
they used annoying and broken cards in order to make the anime more interesting (at least that's their intention)
ShadowKyogre
Yes, but it can still be interesting w/o the brokeness.
ragnarok1945
for example in BC the rule was made so that fusion monsters can't attack on the same turn you summoned it, but then they didn't want that anymore, so made up cards had to be made to manipulate that rule
ShadowKyogre
for example in BC the rule was made so that fusion monsters can't attack on the same turn you summoned it' date=' but then they didn't want that anymore, so made up cards had to be made to manipulate that rule[/quote'] Yes I know that. That's exactly what I mean...Although it would be nice to fuse all of your opponent's monsters to make the 5-Headed Dragon via Super Fusion (a real card). ragnarok1945
yeah some cards had MUCH harder summoning requirements than the real version like the 5 headed dragon: since in the anime you have to tribute 5 monsters with the attributes of fire, water, earth, wind, and darkness on the field to summon it
ShadowKyogre
Yes, which still foobars the duel. By the way (not really connected to conversation), do you think Marik deserved to be humiliated like that in the fictional duel I wrote?
ragnarok1945
technically yes he did for what he did to Mai, Bakura, Joey, and Yugi
ShadowKyogre
technically yes he did for what he did to Mai' date=' Bakura, Joey, and Yugi[/quote'] Not to mention he made Odion cheat by telling him to stop Serket's attack, Summon Ra, and then enter a second battle phase...and I believe that Ra got mad because he broke the one battle phase per turn except if Unfortunate Report is activated rule. Also...I have a weird tidbit of info I want to say to you via PM. Okay?
ragnarok1945
that's before his dark half took over. In any case the real Serket monster only gets 500 extra attack points for the attacks in the anime, not half the monster it destroyed
ShadowKyogre
I'm more upset about the second battle phase portion, which was the most disturbing violation ever. And as for the weird tidbit...do you want to hear it?
ragnarok1945
sure, I want to hear what you have to say

ragnarok1945
personally you should look all the way back at the DK series: back then you didn't even have to tribute for Level 5 or higher monsters
ShadowKyogre
personally you should look all the way back at the DK series: back then you didn't even have to tribute for Level 5 or higher monsters Oh yeah' date=' how could I ever forget about that one?! Just stuff a deck full of Fiend's Sanctuary, Yubel, BEWDs, PMDs, and Ultimate Tyrannos and you're set for victory! [/sarcasm'] Only that season would such a horrendous deck work. ragnarok1945
Speaking of Fiend Sanctuary, I think it's a normal spell card, not quick play, which means Atem never should have been able to defeat Marik in BC
ShadowKyogre
Sometimes they can't help resisting the urge to use normal spells during their opponent's turn unless it's by card effect. And yes, it's a normal spell.
ragnarok1945
are far as I'm concerned back then, there was no such thing as a normal spell card, they're all quickplay according to the anime
ShadowKyogre
Which makes things very, very weird.
ragnarok1945
yeah, but it suits the anime just fine
ShadowKyogre
True...did anyone ever play MST back then?
ragnarok1945
of course they did (I've watched DM plenty of times, but have barely watched GX and 5Ds): it was in season 3 in the virtual world
ShadowKyogre
(busts brain) I still can't remember who played it on what.

ShadowKyogre
Wow...I really didn't remember that. I keep thinking she finished him off in a ridiculously stupid manner (as in amusing).
