Sprite wings

To answer the question, no he didn't do this entirely from scratch. The body, head, and feat are all from the 2nd frame image of the emerald sprite of Noctowl. This only makes me question though why then he did this though, in the second frame Noctowl already has its wings out.... Well I guess you mean more like "wings that are open and flared out."

Well looking at Noctowl wings though we see a few problems with yours though. Noctowl tan feathers take up a lot more room under the wings, but the way you have it, they only take up a small amount. There really should extend farther. Depending also, maybe none of those brown tips should really be there. Also biologically, I don't know if owls and Noctowls are able to flare there feathers that high and stuff, but I wouldn't know for sure. The wing style also doesn't match exactly right, it's much more like Ho-Oh's wing type. In fact, it almost looks like a sloppy edit of Ho-Oh's wings.

As far as spriting goes, there are flaws. One thing I noticed how you have a large lack of shading. You mostly just have borders and inside color, which is almost missable to the untrained eye. The top left corner though of the left wing should though probably have highlights and near the shoulder of the right wing it probably have more shadows.

There is also a general level of sloppiness. You must have rushed near the end and neglected to get to the many stray pixels. On the left wing are a good number of dark black pixels that look weird, including a large block of them. On the right some borders seem randomly dark too. Near the left side of Noctowls stomach you can fine a stray pixel. Also the borders and stuff of the ends of the feathers seem sloppy. A few look ok, but others look blocky and unnatural.

Well that's all I have to say really. Keep a keen eye for sloppy mistakes, and work on neatness.
